Ahh, so finally I ventured out in Mp-land and the first xperience ended in total victory. I tried a few insights I've sampled here on this board (many thanks for your kindness) and had a balanced army, distracted with my cavArc and flanked... Killing his (a finnish guy) Taisho when he assaulted CC tank rush style ended all...

Oh boy, I felt fine. The coming 3 battles had different music to it. Meeting this guy on a map where he positioned himself as def in a castle was a total no go. The other ones I lost too, but much more pleasantness attached!

Guess I wanted to thank all you out there for your support. I'll go back to sp and practice some before plunging out in Mp again. It has been great, my compliments to you all...

THe way to go Smisker is to play lots of friendly games, and be just that, friendly, chat to people and after they've beaten you they'll usually tell you why, and where to improve. hope to see you online soon

"I'd like to thank the Academy for recognizing my work fighting hunger and poverty in the rice paddies... And I'd like to thank Daimyo Joe for providing the chains we used to secure the workers to the rice paddies so that they could not flee. But, my most sincere thanks goes to the Taoist missionaries that came in to preach the teachings of Buddha when our local monk was killed in battle fighting Jesuit invaders. And lots of thanks to all the Daimyos and samurais that helped make this rice paddie the most oppressed and productive paddie in all of Japan! Thank you!"

Magyar,

A friendly smells? People have fun there, isn't fun what a game is for? Friendly doesn't mean that the battle lacks tactics.

If anything smells, it's the league table: there are many nicks there which belong to the same person.

TheSmisker, feel free to play the games you like.

Catiline spoke wise words.

LOL LOL LOL

If friendly smells so rotten, then why is it that every single tourney ever played under the sun has been using friendly games exclusively?!?

Surely the tourneys do not have an Odor-Eaters contract at stake...

Hey Smisker- i will play some friendly Svenski games with you.

I usually play with 2 other swedes - so we will be on in your C.E.T. even though i live in the P.S.T.

One of our favorite game variations is Peasant Revolt http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/redface.gif Now that is humor.

Just look for Black, Rata or Ask.

I know a young Japanese ninja girl that would be just right for you, however her honour level is rockbottom. Her father is a 10 honour yari ashigaru, you won't find anything better than that! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

I have been quite dissapointed with STW. When I came in 2 weeks ago I was thrashed, beatin and IGNORED. I not only play in ladders and other online tournaments , I put them together. I have seen things on STW that I have seen nowhere else... A lack of honor!
Just last night I played A stw hero. He not only beats me. Then as always I say GG! he then says hey bud(LOL) whats your honor? I then say Low. He then in front of 60 people says dam, I have to start whatchin who I play these people are ruining my honor. Totally embarrassing the hell out of me. I host a game and play who enters. I don't check their honor , wins, losses and draws first. Then beat them and gloat??? I for 1 play them all! I take my wins I accept every loss, and I am honourable!! The next time your ego goes over your head remember some things. How were you your second week online? Do you still carry that name? ARE YOU TEACHING FOLKS LIKE YOU WERE TAUGHT? Finnally I'd be willing to bet that the top honourable players aren't in the top 10. Ya know why? They take care of a bad drop. Another thing, I have asked questions to better myself with top notch clan leaders in the room. Like how do you esc from a game when a player is being dropped? I hit esc and then yes and nothing happens. No one is good enough to answear. The only clan that has been kind enough to even answear anything has been the Dread clan. So I applied to join their clan. But they only take on the better players which I understand completely. All things concidered, I am starting a clan of my own with true honor! I only ask 1 thing , you play with your heart. You play with Honor and you can share the AXE Clan Dynasty ! We are new but we are true!!

mcmaster:

I have rarely found people like that, but they are in every game.

I remember a time when I was attacking summer trying to get rain, but it never did. Then the other player started laughing. To my amusement, I routed his army and won http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif He had about 200 more kills than me though, so for about 5 minutes he was complaining in the chat room and then started calling me a rusher. I went at him fast, but I consider a rush a blind charge. I came at him fast with a double envelopment tactic, but he called it a rush.

Mcmaster I might join your clan if I have the time. Gotta work full time pretty soon so I'll see how that goes. I was going to expand on my clan(clan High Voltage) but didn't want to spend time with clan stuff and just felt like playin for fun http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Yeah I was alittle bent when I wrote that!! I am sure there are lots of awesome and honorable players because I have met some of them. Anyone is welcome to check out the Axe Clan. I am working on the site as I cam. Still have much to learn with HTML and STW but will put my nose to the grindstone on both accounts!

OUCH! That business with the grindstone sounds painful! I'd recommend using the chin instead, as there are fewer nerve endings in the chin than in the nose. Plus, you sure as heck dont want to get one of those nose-jobs from one of those unlicensed ashigarus claiming medicinal healing and beautician powers... A scar on the chin builds character, but the absence of a nose scares the geishas away!

McMaster -- Sorry to hear your of your experience, but there are all types on the board. There are many honorable players out there, you just have to get to know them. The good players know who each other are, and newbies, tend to be ignored a bit.

That player that you had trouble with might not have been trying to embarass you. If you have a low honor rating, it will drag that player's down, even if he wins. So he could have just been bummed about that.

That being said, the ranking ladder is so bogus that I don't know why people bother with it anyway. Many good players only play Friendlies now -- it discourages the need for some to cheat. I, for one, have a crappy ranking--and haven't paid attention to it in months. However, I doubt there are many players who want to play me for an easy win
;-) (Elms u stay out of this! LOL)

general mcmaster,

There are varous issues with STW that combine to make people wary of who they play online. The ability to make unlimited STW names means that someone can pull the same tricks over and over under a new identity. Thus, there is a lot of ignoring going on. You also have people who can't stand to loose. So, god help you if you beat them or make a mistake and loose as their ally. Then add in the ever present "drops" that plague the game. Was it technical or did the person just quit? You can see that an element of trust is needed not only in allies but also opponents. It takes a while to build this trust up, and establish your online identity. I think the game is worth the effort, and I've met many people online who are not into tearing others down to make themselves feel better.

If you see me online I'll be glad to play some games with you, and talk about them afterwards. It's best to message me directly by clicking on my name. I don't always follow all that stuff scrolling up in the foyer. I and many others still use my original online name. These online names have to be modified in order to change clan affiliation. I have the prefix 'Mizu' to signify membership in the Takiyama Clan. Also, it was quite difficult online at first. I think all the vets went through the same type of experience when they were newbies.

Thanks a lot http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif I will put my chin to the grindstone and keep playin (LOL). I am learning most things the hard way, which is ok. I do not join in on competive games with more than two anymore. My ally and I lost and man it was my fault and I was a horses Arse. This has happened to me twice so I'll stick with the 1/V/1 for now. I sure like playin with 3/V/3 though. I'll just do the friendly for now. I do have a question, when it says dropping player in 9 8 7 I hit esc. then Yes and it does nothing. Is this just me or is there a trick to it? If the player gets dropped and you get a victory , you should make it right somehow, give the other player a victory? How do you do this, let him thump you? Or is there another way? Thanks, much to learn!
