Not really, although that's hardly surprising considering it's bigger than our continent.
As a landmass, areas of it are much more homogenous than Europe, there are greater cultural differeces between London and Madrid than say Washington and Boston. But as a country, the answer would be no.

In Australia the answer is a definite no.

Generally, Is America perceived as a mostly homogenous nation in Europe?I don't know the word 'homogenous' but I assume this is another US gay thread.
Yes, America is preceived as a nation of gays. Lots of them. This is thought to be because you people are so religious. Christianity creates a lot of subconcious sexual tension in Americans, which makes them gay. Sexual repression makes people perverse. Take for example this thread. Of the thousands of interesting questions you could ask, you ask about American homosexuality. This reveals America's obsession with sex. Whatever the subject, an American will inevitably think of it in turns of sex and
Just kidding, of course. Although I fear again I will be the only one who thinks that was hysterical. ~:mecry:
Perspective on diversity then. I shall give you my thoughts on general opinion, and not on my own opinion. In general, that is, for Jean-Pierre Sixpack, I think the perspective is that yes, I think America is perceived as a mostly homogenous country. Etnically, the thought is: monolithic white, and monolithic black, with some very small other minorities. Geographically, opinion is aware of some regional differences, but this is crude, and mostly limited to enlightened San Fransisco and New York, with a vast and rather homogenous backwater in between. Religiously, America is thought to be overwhelmingly Protestant. 'Protestant' as somewhat monolithic - nobody knows what Southern Baptism is. And with a vastly underestimated amount of Catholics. And some Jews.

No, no, no! Carry own. Progress is clearly visible. I see you've taken my advice. Next time just throw in a couple of toilet jokes and that's it.

Yeah. An American is an American, we don't say texan, new-yorker etc. Oddly enough California is the exception, no idea why.

Not really. I think a lot of people here think about America as being sharply divided between religious conservatives and liberals (wich are often percieved as centrist or centre-left)
Most people realize that you can't compare Texas to NYC; but they're often unaware of differences between individual states when it comes to laws or whatnot- when they hear or read something from a particular state they often generalize and tell people "you know, in America..."

We are all the same.
We even look alike.
The men all have ginormous reproductive organs, and our women produce super babies.

Whites mixed with mexicans or blacks, but never mexicans and* blacks.
*Unless in prison. And even then...
It certainly isn't percieved as a homogenous country in the UK. It's seen as a country still haunted by racial segregation and endemic racism.

Which is hilarious considering the antics of various football supporters in the UK. ~

Yes; just as France is haunted by the battle of Agincourt. :juggle2:

Homogeneity means "being similar throughout".
You may wish to interperate what this means... much like the Bible and Qur'an.

How is the US perceived?
It's perceived in x country like y.
Well x country is worse because of (irrelevant and inaccurate example)
Great stuff drone! You have both drifted off topic, and been quite wrong in one grammatically questionable sentence!

Did I say country x was worse? I just find it very amusing that that perception exists, given all the racial issues in country x.
