Hey,

I liked the video. the music matched,. the scene cuts were perfect, in fact so perfect It can be counted as a EBMV (europa barbarorum Music video). overall, a beautiful mix (i even commented to that effect over there)

my advice (I posted this on you youtube vid): when using heavy metal or death metal, be careful not to make it too loud: some headphones (like mine), amplify the metal, boxing ears off. It can even box speaker users. If you blend it with the scene sounds (weapons), it might work.

just my 2cents, your video was great anyways-one of the best I've seen on youtube:2thumbsup:

EDIT: I rated it 5/5

Personally I turned the sound off as soon as the music started. Never liked that genre, so that's a minus from my part. Aside from that, yeah, it was pretty good.

personally i dont like the music "alone" too, that means if i had to hear or buy a CD, i dont even know what genre it is, i suppose some Dark, metal or things like that, but sayd that, i have no prejudice in it. So i say it fit very well with the video, and the Video is also sincronized with the music, so i think you should put your volume On. I thing it's the same with other kind of music one could not like, for example you'd buy the sort of New Age music from Gladiator? I wouldn't buy it, but i thing it fit very well with some scenes in the movie. Or again someone other could not like baroque music, but could appreciate a Movie with a baroque music soundtrack and enjoy it, like in Pasolini movies etc.

I say if you feel ispired by this music to make the videos, then continue with this kind of music

So who ended up winning the battle in the end? It was pretty fairly matched. I thought the Carthaginians would have been at an advantage with their pikemen and other special soldiers, but they lost a lot, including their general.

Well done, by the way.

The video was of exceptional quality and your movie_cam skills are par excellence, but the music, grhhh! It is always nice when the topic of the video matches the music. A funeral scene and rock do not go together, just like EB and heavy metal, or at least IMHO. Also, the frame rate got a bit choppy. Still a splendid video though, I gave it five out of five.

I remember watching the Baktria vs AS video, and I tell you, it was THE best EB video I have ever seen, along with Legion Strong (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiuWcv-Rp5M) (by Rilder if I am not mistaken). The two things that set that Seleukia vs Baktria video apart from others were 1: video editing, and 2: incredible and at the same time appropriate music (some of it was from Gladiator, if I ma not mistaken). Since there were other well-edited videos on YouTube, it was music that ultimately made that video so good that I favorited it (that's saying a lot since I have only 11 favorites).

Also, on a final note, I actually thought the music in your KH-Pontus video was pretty relevant to the video, even though it was heavy metal.

Well, it's not like I just went "AHA! Death metal! Then it must be crap!". ~ I was in all honesty exaggerating a little bit. The instruments are fine, and the lyrics no problem. It's the snarling voice that kills it for me. I've never been able to stand that, ever, and that's why this kind of music is the only kind (along with the ones where the "singer" just screams) that I don't like. I'm not saying that it's wrong to make a video featuring this music, of course it isn't and if that's what you really want then by all means, go for it. I'm just sharing my own personal opinion, 's all.

After watching it again, this time with the sound on, my opinion remains the same. The video is well synchronized with the music, I'll give you that, but it doesn't sound any better for it.

Thanks all for the nice comments, actually it was no one who won the battle, I have made the movie from 3 separate battles.

watching it some more time it get even better than before, i think it's the best of the three you did. waiting for the next mastepiece!:smash:

@celtic viking
i understand, me too i must confess have some genres of music that i cant stand in whatever manner you can present it to me (rock and pop in general)... peraphs it's just that i never listen to metal, so it dont hurt to me to hear it in a good video for once in a while, i even cant understand the lyrics, since i cant understand spoken english:laugh4:

Dear BirkaViking,
I have seen all four of your videos on youtube and I have instantly become a great fan of yours! Those are true masterpieces!:bow::bow:

I do not want to derail this topic and let it become a discussion on various personal musical tastes, but just for your encouragement I have to say that I personally find your choice of music extremely suitable with the theme of those videos. You have managed to make audio and video to be in complete harmony, one enhancing the effect of the other - not a small achievemet to say the least.
Yes, the music is violent - but so is war!:tnt:

To conclude my tribute, let express my hope that we will see more such movies by you.:2thumbsup:

Could have been a good video were it not for the disgusting death metal music.

you can of course just watch the video, blind out the so called music and put on your own

Thanks again, Iam very well aware that not many like Death metal but for me its suits very well the Brutality in war like you said V.T Marvin and I also try my best to sync the music with the video.
Iam planing maby to do some more videos to EB2 and definitely to Empire when they release it there Sweden is a playable fraction:)
Cheers

Well done. I'm no fan of death metal, but there was clearly quite a bit of thought and planning put into what happened where, and the whole thing came off quite well, I think.

I especially liked how there was a definite timeframe for the battle, and you knew where the key moments occurred, and the importance of strategic reserves.

I'd like to have seen more cavalry charges, especially as the general got knocked off in melee!

There was one moment where the camera zoomed out to show the front line, and I think a few more of those would have been good, but then again not too many.

Overall, I think I'll watch it again 7 or 8 times a day, but probably not more... :beam:

I would love it if you, BirkaViking, released two versions of your videos: heavy metal and some EB/RTW related music. That way, most people would be happy. I'm telling you, its music that makes a video good, as I have found out. Just about any video with the vanilla RTW credits music is very popular due to the outstanding quality of the music.

Yeah I will have something entire different for my other videos for Empire and EB2.

Very good video, Birka Viking. :2thumbsup:
There's just one thing thats not perfect:

the music is far away from being brutal enough.
How about some Agathocles, Haemorrhaege or Nasum? :laugh4:

The music fits nearly perfect. There's only one band, that would do a better job for this video:
Bolt Thrower. Especially "the 4th crusade" from the album with the same title.

nice video i thought the music fit very well with the battle although i think it would benefit from having some other music build up to the battle and then have the heavy metal kick in when the soldiers charge. just my opinion. keep up the good work.

PS just so everyone knows, AD/DC is the best rock band in the world :thrasher: just thought i'd let you know :beam:

Birka Viking

Hehe Bolt Thrower "the 4th crusade" well that was some heavy music:)
And AD/DC is ok but not my style:)
As I said earlier so will I have something entire different for my other videos for Empire and EB2.

I second this post. Death metal doesn't suit the ancient period very well - it's music for Doom 3 techno-bloodbath videos IMO.
