The year is 202 B.C. Through seventy years Roma has grown mighty indeed.. the scipii under Lucius Cornelius Scipio conquered the south of Italy and Sicily in just 2 years ending the bloodshed in 269. Unfortunelately for the Scipii Rome was to awed by the magnificent deeds of a newcomer, Cauis Aurelius Cotta. Only 19 summers old the young Cotta led an army of 35000(1:10) romans from Patavium through Illyria. conquering all. At 22 he destroyed the last stronghold of the Epeirus and had King Alaxandros paraded in the streets of Rome during his first triumph in 264. During his stay in Rome Ambrakia was assaulted and raided by Macedonia. Cotta reassembled his army of hardened veterans, who knew how to beat the phalanx, and ordered further conscriptions. After 11 years and a hundred battles, all of Greece, Macedonia(incl. Serdike; Tylis, Byzantion, Pergamon, Sinope, Halikarnassos) was under Roman control. Macedonia was erased from the histories. As Praetor, Cotta decided to exploit the fact that the aegyptians were tied up in a multiple front war against AS, Pahlava, Hayas and Baktria. Meeting almost no resistance he advanced east, and conquered Bythinia, Mazaaka and Tarsos. At Tarsos and Mazaaka he took a defensive stand, holding the river pass. At Mazaaka Manius Valerius Maximus defended the mountain pass to east of the city.
Now, I would like to know how I can get Ptolemais to accept peace. For ten years now, my armies have defended the river at Tarsos and the mountains near Mazaaka with great succes, slaughtering thousands and thousands of Ptolemais coward servants. Its obvious that they will never get through ass long as I keep reinforcing, which is easily affordable. Why then won't they accept peace(i have tried to give them large sums of money on top) ) Is the AI programmed to be superagrresive and selfdestructive?.
I apologize for spelling mistakes, English is not my first language.

Use force diplomacy, a mini mod which can be found in the submod section
When it comes to diplomacy, the R:TW A.I. might as well stand for artificial idiocy. The diplomatic A.I. seems to have only a vague idea what is happening on the campaign map. It doesn't realize when it cannot win. Tips to improve diplomatic relations are playing at Hard rather than very hard difficulty (the A.I. is programmed to dislike the player, but at VH it really becomes unreasonable) and paying all neighbouring factions a small tribute of, say, 200 mnai per turn. The A.I. dislikes attacking factions who own it money, however little. Giving lump sums doesn't work: the A.I. will simply accept them and attack next turn. Furthermore, don't give the A.I. targets of opportunity, don't leave armies on their territory, don't use spies or assassins against them (or at least, make sure they are not caught). The A.I. will also regard certain cities as rightfully theirs, and will not accept peace for long if you own them. Lastly, prolonged wars trigger a certain "hate" response, which makes the A.I. completely unreasonable. So in your case, it might be impossible to get peace with the Ptolemeans: you've simply been at war too long.

What Ludens said. You will have to download Force Diplomacy. Sadly, diplomats and generals of the AI don't talk to eachother, they will march their armies towards you regardless whether they are at peace with you or not. Watch out and teleport their attacking armies into the desert. When you think it might be time for war again, don't forget to teleport them back.
That's a bit harsh...if you give them a fair deal and don't stack armies on their border and threaten them, then they will leave you alone, unless they have designs for war themselves. Just teleporting all their forces to the desert because they are defending their homes is very harsh. But I guess it's whether you play for realism or not.

Errr.... I'm all for realism, that's the reason I made this purpose. When you have beaten a faction into oblivion, sacking their cities, taking slaves and so forth, they will gladly accept if you offer them peace. That's why you would use Force Diplomacy, cause the AI is too stupid to avoid suicide. But this will not hinder them to send their armies of freed slaves against you just one turn after you granted them peace. Attacking you is the exact opposite of "defending their homes". Also, placing weak forces at their border is a sure bet to lure them into war again. The best defense is showing your might. It's not a threat to guard your borders.

Yes. This is something no mod has been able to fix as yet.

After some time at war the AI will never accept peace. I was unable to make ceasefire with any AI faction after some serious fighting took place, no matter how badly they were beaten. Sometimes the AI has no troops to attack you and no money to recruit new ones, but it still won't accept a ceasefire. I hope in EB II the AI will be more reasonable.
Yes. This is something no mod has been able to fix as yet.
And it can't be fixed, since this is not something that can be changed by modding. It has to do with the basic decision algorithms, which are hidden inside the .exe file.
