Caivs Avrelivs Cotta for me please, Navarro. I'd like to be currently serving as a young officer in the garrison of Capua. Eager to impress and prove my worth to my Father and to Rome, I plan to apply to join the army as a low officer.

Ever since I was entered into the officer class by the wealth of my father, I have been ridiculed by my peers for my Plebivs standing. From a very young age, I faced hardships and often got into fights with a young aristocratic boy and his thug-like mates. However I learnt quickly that this would soon be the end of me in an environment such as mine. I began to sneak into the local school, where I hid while the aristocratic boy who I had had a few run ins with took his lessons. Over the year, I learnt to read and write Latin and Greek. The tutor also taught the boys oratorry lessons, and I practiced what I had learnt in the safety of my home.

When my father was awarded for his ingeniality with the Saturnalia feast, he finaly had enough money to buy in to the lowest senatorial class. He entered me, as a young child of twelve, into the officer training classes in the Capuan Academy. I spent four years there, anxious to prove myself to my teachers and my fellow pupils, but I have yet to acquire the respect I hope for.

My father died earlier this year in a illness. In consolation for his loss, I was awarded his senate seat. However, being so young and with so little experience, I realise I am vulnerable and need a patron and mentor inside the senate house. I am, however, determined not to be simply used for my vote, or to be manipulated by more powerful men.

And now, the southern legion is reborn. The might of Rome marches to capture the city of Taras in the south. I have just graduated from the Academy, and now is the perfect time to make my father proud. I have applied to join the Legion heading for Taras. But sometimes, I wonder. What's the point? They're never going to let me lead men-veterens-to war. A boy, they will see me as. I guess I will probably spend the rest of my life in Capua, or Arpi, or Arimium, the most exciting parts of my life being thieves in the market, or a fire in the Greek quarter. I dream of great things. Yet they are only dreams.

Great story and Capua it is for you only problem is that I will be playing your father as the faction leader and you as my son so that part needs to go ;)...and when i get this games "Story" thread up you should keep this one to put it in their and let our players know your backround.

TinCow wants us to do a trial three years to make sure we're worth the trouble of making a sub-forum, then we can start recruiting. I'd advise you to follow the game as a spectator, then you can be up to date with whats happening, learn how to conduct things, and be ready to jump straight in as soon as the time comes.

Today, yes. You may want to download the save games as well Potocello, but I would advise only to look, to touch. Seeing as technically its against the rules for you to move anything yet, if you interacted with the gameplay it would differ from what we will be doing.

Ok, I would like to be Servius Amicus, that guy. Where exactly can he start?
I need to catch up, so is he the Taras client ruler? If not, then who is he?

Also, I have the 1.1 Mod Pack as well. It messes with Roman recruitment, hoplite/phalangite stats, province stats, and that's just off the top of my head. Is that alright, or do I need to create a separate EB folder for this?

i think you might be fine just upload the save tell me what happens if not you may need a separate EB ya...and he is the client ruler of Ariminum but ill be taking that off soon I hate the client ruler traits. He can start where ever you want. So go ahead read the rules, check out the other threads, do an SOT post, and ill get you all set up in the library.

ur rank is Tribunus, and in a sense we are all senators, the senate is simply us. Historically ya there was 100 senators so if we had 100 players wed have 100 senators. But no for the sake of role-playing we are all senators. now at your rank, you are limited to voting only and debate. you cannot propose legislation when we have Congressional Council meetings which are once every 3 years.

@Desert, as far as i can tell the 1.1 mod pack will not affect the game, as we arnt doing enough for it to change anything major to the game. Plus the differences the mod makes will not be reflected on the save games uploaded by us-in other words...it doesnt matter

... for some reason, EB is working properly right now. I turn the game on, play for a minute and it tells me its not working properly and shuts off. Sometimes im not even able to load my game. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it , but i am having the same problem.

But there is another Rank, Tribunus, who is the third in command and has to serve UNDER a Legatus. So who is Tribunus. Don't players start as Tribunii?

anyway, member status allows them to use the .org PBM uploader and edit their posts (important for the SOT post)

sorry swiss had sum wierd problem when i would recruit the RGBs, the game would crash when i ended the save. Fixed the problem, but you will have to wait one turn and youll be just in time for the session that okay? i really look forward to you becoming and addition to the game.

Not that im picky or anything, but his attributes are horrible. I really dont see any potential in him. Maybe if he wasnt dull he could be put in the academy and over time he could make up for it....

Ya, but just look at his attributes, he has the worst of everything. If he was in my game I would recycle him (suicide charge and look for another candidate).

Nope, we let the game decide your attributes but they make almost no difference to how you roleplay your character. If you have 1 command star you can still be a really good commander.

You can fight against brigands in your land if you are confident that you can win the battle. Also, as I understand it is possible to 'borrow' garrison units to help you fight against brigands. But it's navarro's decision whether he allows this thing.

I am interested in joining this game. Please let me know which Avatars are available still, I'm having some difficulty discerning through all the posts.

I'd like to play a young Patrician officer if possible, highly aloof and above the day-to-day concerns of my men. My true concerns lie with the Senate! Navarro, I think we should begin to make parties within the Curia. Kinda like a mini or early version of a house. An obvious starter point would be the desired direction of expansion. Just means that it can be a prelude to houses, which wont come to later, and it begins to seperate and group different senators. No need for seperate sub forums for each group seeing as it wouldnt be that big a scale, just I think it would make it more interesting to have groups have a go at each other.

I believe they only get MoTH when they win (possilby heroicly) on "autoresolve". If you fight the battle yourself, they didn't win, you did.

Also, our generals shouldn't get MoTH because we are characters, whereas the Captains are not.

Characters in WotB have come up as MotH options after people have fought the battles themselves, so... :shrug:

yes if the generel was recruted then it is possible to get a MotH for him which gets you onto the family tree and such, I should know in WotB its what happened to me.
and fighting the battle yourself has no bearing on it, I believe its just if a faction has too few family members and a captain [or RBG] wins a victory [most of the time it does have to be heroic].

Unforutnately, most of us are not supposed to be there at the moment, though I expect you'll still get a welcome from aids or whatever.
