I am offended that the Babe thread is in the front room. I find it degrading and innapropriate for minors who do use the frontroom. In addition, it is unfiar to homosexuals, women and gender-sensitive males because the Hunk thread is in the backroom, suggesting that semi-nude females are appropriate while semi-nude-dudes ae not.

My solution is that we put it in the backroom, where I spend most of my time... :beam:

Wha? We always had the Babe Thread in the frontroom, and how can it be offensive and inappropriate? There are no nude pictures, so it can't be offensive at all!

perhaps he is suggesting that if they move the babe thread to the backroom, people can start posting nudes?

Too many dudes is always redudant.

The Frontroom is called the Kingdom of Peace and Love for a reason.

May I suggest a different solution? The Hunk Thread could be moved to the Frontroom... as I understand it the Backroom is for more weighty, serious issues.

Maybe you could spend your day looking at pictures of semi nude men to put in the frontroom (in your own thread) :p

On a serious note, it probably would be a good idea to move the thread to the Backroom where the opt-in option applies. IMO it has the potential to upset people with different cultural views (e.g. strictly religious individuals) as much as political discussion does.

I don't think said people would even consider opening the thread. It's pretty obvious what you're going to see.

You're completely right. We need two Babe threads.

I would have to say that I support TuffStuffMcGruff's call here - in fairness, both threads should be in the same place, whether it be frontroom or backroom - just for the sake of equality.

Given the choice between those two, I would suggest that the backroom is probably the more appropriate location for these threads.

Just my two florins worth....

no one should even care where they are  i highly doubt some religious nut is going to be furious over where to threads are positioned, that someone highly religious shouldn't even be looking at in the first place :clown:

The more important thing, I think, is that wherever they are, they should be in the same place...

You are quite right, those who may be offended should simply opt not to open the thread, but sadly the world doesn't always work that way. At least if both were to be in the backroom, it can be shown that steps had been taken to minimise any possible offence.

I wasn't aware that there was one either, but as Shieldmaiden so eloquently pointed out, such things do appeal to some members, so there you go.....

Just out randomly making a point, I'm sure some USA cooperation or other said a while ago that 40% of their clients were female. Link (http://www.gamertell.com/gaming/comment/esas-2008-report-forty-percent-of-gamers-are-women/).

Alternatively, you could look at another report which says that women actually outnumber men (64% of online gamers being women). Link (http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/tech-news/?p=367).

In addition, statistically 3.6% of all people in the UK are openly gay too (although something like 6.1% have had some sort of "crush" on somebody of the same gender at some point yet don't identify under the gay category). This was a random sample taken in 1992, but more recent surveys put the numbers higher. The figure is similar in the US with 4% of the population identifying under the gay spectrum (including bisexual) according to CNN exit polls for the 08 election. Link (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_sexual_orientation).

So yes, we need a hunk thread (and it needs posters).

No but if they were both in the backroom that would be prejudice to the frontroom as the dominant babe thread is in the frontroom, so i would create another protest campaign to move the babe thread back to the frontroom :smash:

Actually, it would make more sense to move the Hunk Thread next to its sibling in the Frontroom (which is, as others have pointed out, the Kingdom of Peace and Love).

People who are offended by ripped abs and curvy flesh should not be on teh internets at all. Ever.

Hi all, to the source of all this then….

:beam:

Now, let me tell you TuffStuffMcGruff...

The only thing that is offensive here is your attempt to impose some limitations on the babe thread and the freedom of choice and expressions here. This (displayed) misguided notions on the female body and what it signifies is just ridiculous. We have all came out of a woman, and a little female skin here and there won’t hurt anybody. For thousands of years the human bodies, female or male, have been the subject of art, in various forms, hell even porn and plenty of other things. A harmless little babe thread won’t change or alter that fact. Neither will it offend anybody who is in their right mind and have not just moved in from planet Mars.

Now, the notion of the exploitation of the female body is something that we have constructed and it is completely artificial. The male body is equally exposed but we have become culturally accustomed to that all over the world and thus think nothing of it. Female breasts are just that – breasts – nothing more. The idea that they for some stupid reason need the cover of a bra is just ridiculous and utterly artificial. Females have as non-existent reasons to cover their breasts as we males do.

Conan with a bra is just silly and I hear nobody complaining or screaming about any such thing. The fact that many males find it exiting to watch the curves of gorgeous females are hardly a new thing nor should it be regarded as offensive or strange in any way. Females enjoy the shapes of men as well so there is no strange offensive thing going on here at all. The fags and lesbians do too you know…

It is just a question of supply and demand. The babe-thread is obviously a result of that. Our average PC-warlord here at the ORG likes a little female skin now and then so “he” put up a babe-shrine at some point. It was hardly any problems in finding material for that because the supply of babes on pics is anything but scarce. It is the result of demand and preference. Most of these babes live good and excellent lives because of their bodies and looks. They sell ‘em, because they can obviously do so. The demand for it is a fact. Why on earth would that be offensive? As long as they do so (the babes) voluntarily I really can’t see any problems with it – at all. It is not offensive nor should it ever be regarded as such and any such notion could easily be regarded as inhuman and artificial. If anything, a worthy target of concerns, regulation and restraints in my book.

Ok, so there is hunk-thread - obviously also a result of supply and demand. If the PC-warladies here want a hunk thread let ‘em have it, since it also is an expression and as natural and inoffensive as the babe-thread. If anything it should be moved out of this secret area “the backroom” I hear so much about here. Looking upon humans on pictures is hardly offensive, naked or otherwise. It is not porn just because someone is naked you know… Besides, visiting these threads are completely voluntary and if an 11-year old boy wants too look at some babes, let him – it won’t kill, hurt or destroy him and the same is true for a girl with the hunks.

As for suggestions and values on semi-nudity, the only one I see suggesting any such thing is you and possibly a few misguided followers here. Jesus has been represented as semi-nude for roughly 2000 years and the same goes for Hercules even longer than that and this is also true for a bunch of others. I don’t hear anybody complaining and whining about that and those are hardly the only examples of male semi-nudity. There is tons of it everywhere, regardless if it is ancient, classical or modern, male or female.

Now, I have no clue if you were serious or not in that post, but your presented reasons here do not in any way warrant a move of the babe-thread anywhere. Not even close actually. I and plenty of other babe-lovers should not be deprived of some gorgeous babes if we want drool over ‘em just because you apparently have some lame and silly concerns for various assorted minorities (the gay and lesbians etc. are still minorities in general and probably here as well). That, if anything, would be unfair. So the babe thread should go nowhere I think and you should have to do the enormously demanding task of moving/navigate your concerned self out of the backroom….

- Your average defender of babe-threads signing off.

I can't believe some people are taking this thread seriously, when it's obvious the OP just wants the Babe thread in the forum he most frequents. Hence the Backroom regs want it in the Backroom, the Frontroomers want it to stay in the Frontroom, while Andres wants it in his Gameroom. I'm surprised no-one's put forward the case for it to be moved to the EB forums, as part of their exhaustive research into making the TW games more realistic. It might be tricky to think of a plausible argument for moving the Babe thread to the Scriptorium though.

That way we can add more variety (threads) and keep all pic threads nice and tidy...
