I'm not the first to try this for units, but I thought I would bring it up for units that lost the phalanx formation because they were not mobile enough. A few examples are the Mori Gaesum, Alpine, Ifikratean and other phalanx spearmen. Without phalanx they became less effective, but there do not appear to be many alternatives to retain their mobility and effectiveness.

For hoplite units, I've tried the short_pike and spear before and did not like how it came out for the units and eventually discovered this.

by adding 0.2 the units I tested in large size, no time limit, medium difficulty battles, performed much better then expected so I figured this could be used for these mobile phalanx spearmen who do not have an armor value above 9 or 10.

the unit radius at 0.2 appears to mimic a shieldwall formation without the BI bonuses with tight units like the classical, thorakitai and KH bodyguard hoplites, so I figured it could be applied to the mobile phalanx units that are not as tightly packed in their ranks.

the only obvious drawback that I have seen is that the unit keeps fighting when surrounded longer then expected, which leads me to believe that the smaller radius drains the moral slower so disciplined and highly trained units are turned into tanks, high armor value does not help especially being higher then 9.

Once I figure out how I'll post some screen shots with the units using the 0.2 radius.
Aradan has an EDU guide where he writes that the default is 0.4 but testing with 0.3 did not show as much of a difference as expected. Input is welcome because I know I need to do more testing on this.
Also, here is another thread where using 0.2 radius is discussed.

depending on what the EB team thinks we could turn this into a mini-mod :smash:

You don't need the EB team's blessing to make a minimod. I can move this into the unofficial mods forum if you'd like, or you can make a new thread there.

I don't think we'll be using those values in the main build, as EB1 is "finished" and it's not objectively an error that needs correction. I'll make a note to the stat guys though.

Could we see some pics of standard vs 0.2?
