View Full Version : Will There Be Any Military Changes For Greece?
The way Rome has them and some other factions also, i know everything is done historical.
But cant there be some fiction added for when you take a faction past the point they actually lasted.
Carthage and Rome have great depth cause of the history avalible but Greece was put to the sword early so any military changes would have to be made up along with some others.
Maybe killing another faction and devopling some sword troops or something, killing Rome and taking there armor technology.

... Rome killed Carthage first. Three times. Then after they burned down Carthage, they decided to knock over everyone else because they had nothing better to do with all those legions... Carthage -> Illycia -> Macedonia -> Sparta -> Chase Hannibal Around... etc.
Also, with regards to imaginative stuff... The idea was thrown around way back in X.8 about having some sort of Legionesque Thorakitai guys for the KH. So was a crossbow unit. I also think that there's a joke unit card of the Archimedies Laser Quinquereme somewhere.

exactly, the moment you say 'but' you'll need to be tied to a stake and have mike and meth poke you with pointy things.
It's a reasonable request, but the problem with speculative history is that it opens too many possibilities. There's only a limited number of unit slots, and I prefer them to be spent on real units instead of legionaries and cataphracts for all factions.
As for Roman armour technology, the Greeks already got that, from the same place as the Romans did: the Gauls.
If we're going to have speculative history, I demand that my aelophile "Industrial Rebellion" Reforms be included.

We already have plenty of speculative history. By the very nature of our game.

...This is fantasy. Why don't you go play Lord of the Rings or something?
Btw, you spelt Alberta wrong in you location description. O tempora!
Oliphaunts in EB? :laugh4:
I want to see the Romani besiege the Seleukid capital of Megas Tirith, and the Makedonian stronghold of Alex's Deep.

Yeah, the Tower Guards are from the Third Age Lord of the Rings mod.

I demand that if the Saka-Rauka conquer Hispania and holds it for more then 8 consecutive winters they will get access to these very historical troops that almost certainly would have come into existence if the Saka-Rauka technology had mixed with the Iberian one.

A Primarily melee cavalry unit, that has some soliferum to be thrown first before they charge...? too weird... the regional units is better anyway... they are too illogical...:laugh4:
But I support if you means about armour improvement...:idea2:

Good one, antisocialmunky!
But you make a valid point. This thread could easily go up in flames because of the possibility of the speculative versus history debate that has happened in several threads before.
Well, that is unless everyone can behave themselves....

And I would rather have lorica segmentata legionaries instead of hypothetical Greeks.

LORICA SEGMENTATA!
Hmm my earlier post was about SPARTAN warriors not lorica segmentata. I have therefore added pictures emphasising the HALO aspect for those who missed the SPARTANs (which are well camouflaged in the grass) in the first screenshot.
