Hey everyone,
I recently transferred about 38 gb of music from a friends computer to mine via external hard drive. Ever since then my laptop (running vista) has been crashing all the time. I assume its from the file transfer. What can usually be done (besides deleting all the files) to help fix this difficulty? If I Deleted the files and resent them in smaller amounts separately would it alleviate the problem?
Thanks,
Hiji

Have you run virus and spyware scans very recently?

I'd imagine you're now running low on hard disk space and thus on virtual memory also. This is likely to be the problem.

And you wouldn't happen to have transfered to some folder called "My Music", "My Documents", "My Videos", "My Pictures", "My Desktop" (or whatever the equivalent(s) in your language of choice) ? Windows XP and Windows Vista do some indexing at start up, and just about every "My" folder is part of that.

38GB to index.. that would sure hit hard.

Its not low hard drive space, I have 100gb left. I have no virus' or adware. And yes, I did transfer directly to the My Music Folder, does that make a difference?

All I know is the My Documents folders are part of Windows User Profile. So you got 38+ gb user profile (?)

Try moving it all out to a Windows folder and defragment.
