Whispers in the Night
https://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r162/salamander08/hauntedhouse.jpg
Game Hosted by yours truly, YourLordandConqueror (aka, YLC)
Many thanks to Sigurd who helped with some design element ideas
Your story begins late one day, after coming home from a stressing day at work, where you were reminded for the umpteenth time that you are simply not being paid enough for what you do. You hastily grab your mail from your box as you hop up the stairs to your apartment (or flat, depends on where you live) to dive in and attack the couch with your tiredness. However, before you can begin your plans of procrastination, you stop to examine your mail before you open your door, maybe for the first time in your life. You flip through it, searching desperately from something behind the bills, notices, and advertisements - all asking for money you don't have. Finally, you find it, and you throw everything else to the ground.
A plain envelope, with no markings upon it, not even a stamp, and yet, you can almost read the contents before you open it. Feverishly, you tear the innocent thing open to find a not just as simple.
You are cordially invited to attend an open house event for the next 24 hours. During this time, we ask you take notes on the condition of the house you will be staying in, and that afterward, you will be awarded a lump, non-taxable sum of 100,000 dollars US. We do hope you can attend today. Please hurry, there is only so much space...
Underneath, their is the address of the house you are supposed to go to. You check the note back to front, but even on the closest inspection it's obviously not signed (so stop looking!). A grin appears across your face - this is your chance! As your mind races through the possibilities, your feet race down the stairs, through the parking lot, and into your car (or automobile, depends on where you live). You race down the highway, intent on arriving before anyone else can get to that money...
This is not your usual mafia game, so be prepared for some unexpected surprises. There will be one or two mafioso, and a few power roles in the beginning.
Rules(shamelessly ripped from Netherworld, with a few modification according to this games needs ):
NO QUOTING PMS, NO QUOTING CHATLOGS, NO SCREENSHOTS, NO ALTERNATE ACCOUNTS, AND NO TRANSLATING PM'S(Andres)-You may claim whatever you want, including role name, so long as you don't quote my PM's word for word, or very close to word for word. Also, you cannot reveal victory conditions. Period.
The dead cannot reveal anything unless I allow them to, including previous night actions, but they may participate as much as they want to contribute to general discussion. The dead also may not communicate outside the thread in any way, shape, or form relating to this game, be it via PM, chat, quicktopic, or other, except at Host discretion.
I do not allow Vote: No Lynch as an option. Period. You may abstain, however.
If you wish to take back a vote, you CANNOT do it by editing a previous post. I will not count it. Period. You must unvote:playerX in order to recant the previous vote. In order to vote for someone, you must do so in the usual Vote:YLC style. Votes must be bolded, for reference.
WOGs will occur if a person does not vote 3 rounds in a row, or if they do not vote in 4 rounds in total. Please, please don't make me WOG you. It won't be a pretty death.
Suicides will only be allowed in the event of a person being very much unable to participate in the game. I do not allow suicides for any other reason.
No links to anything outside of this thread. Period. I don't care if it pertains to something completely irrelevant.
It would be very helpful for the sake of my sanity if player's kept a tally running.
DON'T MESS WITH THE TALLY! If I determine ANYONE is intentionally misrepresenting the tally, I WILL wog the offender immediately. I will not put up with BS like that.
Voting periods will be 24 hours, though I may occasionally extend it to 36 if necessary.
Any ties in voting will await someone to break it. First vote to either person who is tied will result in lynch, regardless of any posts after it.

If I kill you in two of them, will that help ?
Can I ask Andres to allow me to keep this open for awhile to gain some players? It appears that with the other games, this will receive next to no attention...
And Sigurd, you can join

Yoyoma feels overbooked.
Besides, I'll probably just get knocked off the first round.
But I really would like to join.... :juggle:
If it comes down to it, and you need another body, count me in. Otherwise, I'll have to regretfully sit this one out.

Hopefully this game will be open for a few days for sign ups. I'll even ask if Andres will allow more then 15 people if enough want to join, I don't like turning people away. Hopefully I can get a few veterans in here, cause trust me, this isn't your run of the mill mafia game

It appears we have enough players to begin, although I feel bad for Yoyoma and Boudica. I'll be doing the opening write up, game starts during the night phase, and PM's will be sent.
PM's sent! If you did not get one, then your just a normal townie. Write up coming soon
...Finally, you pull up to what appears to be a massive, looming mansion. You look at the address again just to make sure it's the right place, and without a moments hesitation, you leap from your car and race up the steps and into the main hall...where 15 other people mill about.
"Hey, wait a minute, what are you all doing here? You didn't all get the same letter did you?" All 14 nod, and you sigh in despair. How will you ever get that money now! As you walk further into the hall way to put your jacket on a hook after stepping out of the cold winters night, the grand double doors behind you slam shut violently. All 15 of you turn and look at the doors with surprise, fright, or a knowing look on their faces.
You speak first. "Must have been the wind..." You walk over to the doors to open them again, but they refuse to budge. "It's locked," you sigh "does anyone have a key to this place?" A middle-aged man raises his hand, and speaks in an eastern european accent. "Of course! I'm the groundskeeper round here..here let me get it..." You move aside as the groundskeeper pulls out his ring of keys and tries the doors.
As the first does not work, a frown crosses his face. he pulls the key out and tries another, but again to no avail. after going through half the ring of keys, and yet another failure, the groundskeeper tries to pull out the key. It snaps suddenly, the front end stuck inside the keyhole. He stares in a bit of disbelief and shock. "Oh no..."
You suddenly turn inquisitorial. "Oh no what? You can't tell me that we have no other way of getting out!" The groundskeeper shakes his head. "That's exactly it. Unless one of you is a locksmith, then were not going to open this door at all. and the other doors to the outside are boarded up solid, and all the windows are barred."
"You throw your hands up. Of course! You turn to one of the other guests. "Can someone try the phones?" The groundskeeper chuckles. "The phones don't work in this place, service was shutdown awhile ago. owners of this place always kept the electricity running though, don't know why..."
One of the guests yelps. "My cellphones isn't working either!" Shouts of confirmation go around as it appears no ones cellphone is working. This is getting weirder by the minute. You turn to the groundskeeper. "So how we going to get out?" the groundskeeper answers hesitantly. "Someone from a land developer is supposed to come out in a few days to look the place over. I'm pretty sure he will help us all out. Until then..well, guess we have to sit tight..."
The guests looked at each other warily as night finally descended and total darkness took over...

End Night One...
After the Groundskeeper showed each person to their rooms, everyone settled in for a restful nights sleep. Some floor boards creaked, the wind howled, the windows rattled, and the snow danced outside in the gale, but the night otherwise remained uneventful.
...Begin Day One
You may start voting now. Voting period will remain open for 24 hours, and an extension for another 12 hours can be called if two or more people ask for it.
may i ask what we are voting for? since this is not a usual mafia game, are we voting for a mafia/killer/zombie/ghost?

Unusual for me to not stay and give further opinion after a couple brief comments and a non-vote.
However, I am not mafia. Again. And if you were to kill me, I have a funny feeling I'd be able to get some hardcore revenge on you in this game.
So lynch me if you absolutely have to lynch someone.

Just for laughs let's make it a three way tie:grin2: Vote:TevashSzat
Sorry, got caught up in more "earthly" matters. Day ends now, votes tallied, standby for writeup
End Day One...
As everyone goes about their business for the day, trying to occupy themselves, murmurs begin about which among them sent the letters. Most really had no opinion on the matter, but a few voiced their own concerns, and a few of those concerns grew into paranoia.
As the sun began to set, a scream was heard from the kitchen. Almost everyone dropped what they were doing and ran to kitchen, and when they got their, they saw Mr.White and Vash looking at what was once O'Leary, the guy from the local deli who was a fanatic about beef. He had some how used all the knives in the kitchen to stab himself in strange directions that arms shouldn't be able to reach, let alone have lived along enough to keep putting them into himself. Mr.White looked at the body with a slightly crazed eye.
"He...just wouldn't stop...we couldn't make him stop...he never even made a sound while he did it." Vash nodded in agreement. "It was like something had come over him, kept muttering about a 'darkness come to consume as all'." The group eyed both men suspiciously, but the first priority was to take care of O'Leary's body and clean up the kitchen.
When all was done, the groundskeeper again showed everyone to their rooms and bid them a goodnight, but with the days activities, few would sleep soundly...

Erm, I don't understand why Beefy was lynched (and why, Beefy why? :wall:)
From what I gathered this was the (non abstain or change to abstain) voting history:
TevashSzat voted Askthepizzaguy
Then you posted and said voting would end in 1 hour at 1:22 AM Eastern time
Then Beefy posted and voted for himself 41 minutes later at 2:03. So the votes were tied 1-1.
Then White_eyes:D posted and voted for TevashSzat at 2:23, which is 1 hour and 1 minute past 1:22 so 1 minute later I suppose. But YLC wasn't there to end the voting himself so I'm not sure if he kept this deadline.
If the deadline was kept it should be a tie. And the next post (White_eyes:D vote on TevashSzat) should be counted as the tiebreaker. If the deadline was not kept, it should be a lynch for TevashSzat anyway.
1 hour later at 3:23, YLC ends voting in the thread.
So I guess I'm really confused as to what happened?
Most hosts don't keep to their deadlines in my experience :juggle:
It wouldn't have been a "tiebreaker" vote, since each person (ATPG, Beefy, and TevashSzat) each had one vote on them. I randomly selected one person to be lynched, and that was Beefy.
Sorry for not being on the deadline, I had gotten distracted in RL.

Its better to lynch someone who is willing to get lynched then those who aren't

End Night Two...
Seth Chao slept soundly in his room, completely oblivious to anything, and happily content. Unlike the others, he wasn't really all worried. So one guy went nuts and killed himself, happens all the time.
"Yes, it does happen all the time."
Seth bolted upright in his bed. He had always been a light sleeper, and the sound of someone coming into his room had awoken him.
"Who's there?" Seth peered into the darkness, trying to find who had invaded his space.
"Your judgment" Evil laughter split the night as someone leaped upon Seth and began choking the life from him. Seth struggled against his attacker, but he was to weak, and his attacker far to strong, inhumanly strong. After about a minute, the light faded from Seth's eyes...
When Seth Chao was found in the morning, his eyes were open and glazed, staring into nothingness, and his skin was pale and white as his sheets, as if he died from fright instead...

White_eyes:D did you learn nothing in the days of Scourge of Ephesus? You don't know that I like to role play? That I like to have fun in the games?
Guess why I didn't make a show in the Prometheus, oh yeah, because I won as Mafia. :2thumbsup: Guess why I played it cool in Fillet Royale and used letters, oh yeah, because I won, as detective! :2thumbsup:
You have to answer two questions here:
1) Can you say for sure I have a role? Or am I just messing with you and roleplaying.
2) If I do had a role, why vote for me just because of that? After all, I was roleblocked this round, and there was a kill. Maybe there are good roles in the game!
You're incredibly scummy in that way. :wink2:
Edit: Just to make it clear to the town, I edited added that funniest thing and woman thing spoiler to make the joke even more funny.

Ok, so I don't want this to turn into another Ephesus where everyone just is focusing on me and not looking at what is really going on, so if the town is going to lynch me, please do so now that I can't be blamed more and more for causing "confusion" when I'm just trying to have fun and people nitpick me.
What you must also look at, is that we actually got a kill today while I was roleblocked.
Also remember the way White_eyes:D just jumped on me. I've been thinking this through more and more, and am less suspicious of him, because it is the way he usually acts, but I still think it strange.
While there's still a chance that WE could be Mafia, I really now think the Mafia are just enjoying this little screen that they shouldn't have even gotten (thank WE ).

I believe I can offer a much better reason than WE (who I still think is somewhat suspicious but if he's going to call off his attack then it seems like he was truly misguided due to my stupid but fun fun :laugh4:).
taka voted straight up for me in Chicago Soiree even though there was much less of a reason to do so. Here the library excuse seems for him just to be noncommittal, as if waiting for which of me or WE would get the most votes on.

I don't like the role fishing from White_eyes. Having been involved in the designing of this game, I am sure we all have a role. 15 roles and 15 players.

We are looking for a killer aren't we? And RR was blocked last night. I therefore conclude that he was not the killer.

I think this game permits dead people to do more than talk, knowing YLC.
This is a game about ghosts and stuff. YLC is the host. Think about it. However, I don't wish to risk the game on a wacky theory. I would risk the game and my life on a much more conclusive theory, as I have done in Ephesus and Chicago.
Just in case I'm not clear, I don't endorse the above theory yet, and I have no plan of action even if I were correct.
lets just hope i get to come back and haunt those that lynched me XD

Just a friendly request from a townie who seems to always die for a silly reason. Now, onto my comment:
I did not get a role PM. I do not have a role, in a game where supposedly everyone has a role.
YLC, if everyone gets a role PM, I'd like to see mine. If I don't get a role PM, I will think something is up with Sigurd. Until then, treat this post like it doesn't exist.

People get roles after they die? So what are we supposed to do about it? Do we have a Ghostbuster here? And if so, shut the heck up and don't tell anyone, for pete's sake.
I doubt we can lynch ghosts, but maybe there is still a way to win.

Seth bolted upright in his bed. He had always been a light sleeper
light? white
"Who's there?" Seth peered into the darkness, trying to find who had invaded his space.
looked into darkness to see an invasion of space, perfect contrast with black is white, and would be the biggest invasion, white eyes claimed to be a ghost and more obviously the word white is in his name
the light faded from Seth's eyes...
practically spells out white eyes
his eyes were open and glazed, staring into nothingness, and his skin was pale and white as his sheets, as if he died from fright instead...
overwhelming, more reference to white eyes and ghosts

So ATPG has no role, but according to the host he could potentially get a role due to other people's actions.
So that means either:
ATPG was lying, then we lynch him now.
or
ATPG will get a role in the future, I highly doubt we would get anything but an anti-town role, as it would be highly unbalanced if towns could create new town roles out of thin air; so we lynch him now.
Unvote: Taka, Vote: ATPG

End Day Two...
As the guests gathered in the hall, whispers rang out, and were quickly followed by accusations. Mr.White stepped forward and pointed his finger at Rene. "You! You claimed someone here came to your room last night, and also claim you are a woman!" Rene raised an eyebrow as she leaned forward in her chair. "Um...no ones arguing that I am a woman, Mr.White, you sure your okay?" Mr.White's eyes gleamed with fervor. "So you admit it!" Rene's jaw dropped, and another guest stepped forward. "Mr.White, you have to believe Rene, she's telling the tru-" Mr.White whirled on the guest. "So your in on it too!"
Rene stood up and slapped Mr.White. "Get a hold of yourself, your starting to sound like you've lost it!" Mr.White stared at Rene in shock before continuing. "Yes...yes, of course....well, we still have to figure out who killed Seth Chao. And I say it was him!"
Everyone turned to look at Mr.Taka, and Mr.Taka then proceeded to turn around to see who was behind him. When it dawned on him that Mr.White was pointing at him, Mr.Taka and everyone else gave Mr.White a curious look. Until Rene spoke up. "Of course, you've been a bit dodgy Mr.Taka, staying all day and all night in the west wing where the library is. You have something to hide?" Mr.Taka laughed and brushed it off. "Oh, come now! I sleep in the library, I even had the grounskeeper move my pillow and blankets in there. I'm have a much better time then anyone one of you, and the only thing I have to hide is thousands of wonderful first editions of classical books, it's almost a goldmine in there."
The guests seemed a bit lost until one person, who looked as if he never made any sense, ever, and tended to be meek, spoke forth with firm conviction.
"I bet it was you Mr.White! You were there when O'Leary was killed, and now Seth Chao has been killed! He was just as white as his sheets, and your name is Mr.White!"
Several guests began to agree, and Mr.White looked on with a dumbstruck stare. "You have to be kidding! You claim my accusation is madness, yet, your going to jump on me for a person being white when they die?! It's called the blood draining away from the skin people!"
But it was too late, and the guests had already begun discussing a way to contain Mr.White. But when they turned back to speak to Mr.White again, he was gone.
A little while later, a scream was heard from Rene's room. Mr.White had been found, his skin removed and turned into a twisted leather coat and pants, his bones used to create the hangers. Later on, it was discovered where the rest of him had gone off to - the freezer, in little baggies, each marked with the weight and it's contents, as if someone intended to eat it later on...

were embedded into every sentence! you claimed to be a ghost, and hosts often uses players names to throw in clues, you can blame YLC for that, and as tevash said, it was only an idea! and afterwards i said im not just doing this to distract attention and vote for who you like, and be honest, there wasn't a better suspect, finally, white eyes, i was never suspicious before the write up, and it doesnt implicate anyone else, and no i always have relatively wobbley reasoning, ive only been mafia once, and my behvior didn't differ much at all, so that blackmail isn't working, to me, at least, i know your angry you got lynched, but there really was little other evidence, taka saying that was a stupid lynch is all fine and good, but he seemed to the most suspect to me, and still is, another pattern i find, is i get lynched because i reaped information from the hosts write-up, well i'll leave that with the remaining living players, not ghost eyes :inquisitive:
well i didnt say it was stupid, but i thought it was quite crazy how everyone bandwagon'd so quick and fast.

End Night Three...
As Mr.Taka sits huddled in a corner, reading the latest book on particle physics from 1956, with a horror book open to the the contents page. "Now where did I leave off of...devil of a chapter, oh yes, chapter 9.” Suddenly, a shadow loomed over him, and the lights dimmed, making it hard to see the attacker. “Why not check page 28 Mr.Taka? I am sure all your answers lie there...” Suddenly the books still on their shelves (there where few of them, since Mr.Taka was such an avid reader) and all flipped open to page 28, and each book began screaming, crying, biting, gnashing, yelling, and twitching in a mad cacophony. Mr.Taka scrambled to escape, but he hit his shin on a chair that he had moved to get to the higher books, and he fell to the ground in pain.
“Oh come now Mr.Taka, you don't make this fun at all! Run Mr.Taka, RUN! I wish to enjoy myself!” Mr.Taka was seized by fear and ran to the giant double doors that lead into the library, but as he got within inches of them, the doors slammed shut in his face, knocking him backwards and onto his back. “Oh, Mr.Taka you are a treat! I'll just play with you a bit longer!”
Suddenly, the doors burst open once more, accompanied by a man shrouded in pure light, as if the evil in the air where being lit on fire by his presence. “You will do no such thing! Begone scourge of the night! No more with your nonsense! BEGONE!” And with that, Mr.Taka's attacker ran from the room, screaming in agony, as he himself was on fire...

I would caution town to be extremely careful with their lynch targets. In this game, I feel that even wasting multiple lynches only to have townies murdered is better than continuing to lynch without evidence, because as the game goes on it will be easier and easier to spot the mafia. I know YLC's main concern with this game was to keep the dead players active.
Apparently our killer is a ghost and taka was saved by someone living. Someone with the power to expel ghosts. I am thinking either a exorcist or something.
Should we start voting for our recent deceased players? If I am not mistaken, the murders started after Beefy was lynched. If there is anyone with a role description that hints to killing dead players or blocking dead players, I am all ears.

Current personal theory:
The dead are not all aligned to the same faction, and they can kill one another, but most townies (living people) cannot. Townies, most of us, don't have a role until we die and are converted to bad things. I seem to recall something vaguely like this when YLC mentioned the game to me. But he could have changed it by now, and I cannot recall the details at all.
I also would like to say, I haven't been here, and I am expendable if you want. Like I said before. I will do a thorough analysis of the game and get back to you, as I always do. For now, I won't be responsible for the deaths of any innocent people.
I haven't even read the thread properly yet. Give me time, and I will do a follow-up.

Town will do better with fewer dead townies.
If we have a good lead, I'm content to vote. If I am convinced our best option is a random vote, I'm content to vote. After I've done a thorough analysis of the game and the writeup, I am content to vote.
I will not doom an innocent player out of foolish haste. Risks should be calculated.
I've heard some whispering about dead being able to do nasty things.
YLC: this may sound weird, but can we lynch dead players?
You may not lynch dead players, and that is not how the dead are dealt with. So fear not about voting to lynch someone twice.

01-22-2009, 13:09
Uh huh. But the dead DO something, and town appears to be powerless to lynch them.
I'm not trying to scummily get town to not vote each other, by the way, in case anyone cares. I am postulating a theory, and when the analysis is complete, you will see me vote or confirm that I don't want to.
Oops, nothing to see here - that means you too Andres!

Oops with a question mark is right. I think you're dropping hints.
Quintus has only 5 posts, only one of them was serious:
It would just be an coincidence, or it could be the little details that the host put in the write-ups that have possibilities of being discovered by the players. Your reasoning is quite sound Aries

may i ask what we are voting for? since this is not a usual mafia game, are we voting for a mafia/killer/zombie/ghost?
i'll vote: abstain for now
"page" or post number 28. Writeup refers to page 28, and Mr. taka.
You will also notice two supernatural beings battling it out. Do we have a priest or an exorcist, or something of that nature, I wonder?
I am not asking you to reveal.
My guess that there are at least two "dead" factions battling it out seems to have some evidence in the last writeup.
heck, that is a blummin' good discovery, ATPG
going on your theory, it could be zombie vs ghost
as for reveal, i am guessing that most people dont have a role (aside from the few at the begining) until we are either ghost killed or zombie killed, which would then maybe convert us and then "give" us a role
but im still not sure how townie are meant to win - i think we do have a priest/exorcists (since i was saved by someone). i think it would probably be a good idea that they contact me maybe
I think we need to lynch or kill the right player which will then deal with the dead (mafia).
Again, if YLC has followed the line that we discussed via PMs prior to this game, a certain dead player will be able to exterminate ghosts.
I guess this is all about second chances. Vanilla townies become mafia when dying and the pro-town will continue the pro-town efforts in the after life.

Taka, it's very risky and self-incriminating to ask that our best potential townie reveal themselves to ANYONE.
I advise any such person to think twice before doing so... it's VERY risky to just trust Taka. But if taka has reason for wanting this knowledge, he's either valuable to town (dead before the end of the game at the hands of ghosts) or a scum (we need to lynch him at some point)
In either case Taka, you need to die at some point methinks.

I think it's almost unfair to use our knowledge of PM's with YLC in this game, in retrospect.
I would assume YLC changed the game enough to make it fair when we join it, though. I honestly don't remember much.
Edit: From what I gather from talking with YLC, we haven't figured anything critical out yet. But must analyze the writeups, accurately.

i already said not too :sweatdrop:
thinking properly, it would be too risky if i was killed and know who he was.
the only thing i found on the write-up is the book:
Leonard Isaac Schiff. Particle Physics: 1956
i wonder if thats of any help (searched it up on google/wikipedia lol)
or even alternavitely:

chapter 9 - (to mean 2009?)
1956 - (the time 19:56?)
i have no idea why that post at all, but maybe someone can interperate this better?
i know im throwing around bits of information which even i dont know if it's relevant, but im looking hard at the write-ups :inquisitive:

people do make mistakes. And in this game, seems to me the dead are our greatest threat.
However, taka, I still contend we will have to lynchee you eventually to be safe. I don't think bandwagonning you over one error is best at the moment.
Fair enough, taka.
I get the feeling that Aries is just holding off his vote strategically so he can place it when he wants to live...

I do not feel the need to defend anyone, they can do it themselves;
It's possible that those who abstain can monitor the tally and vote in a strategic manner to keep themselves alive. He may have the same theory.
I've been looking over the reasons others have voted. Some fair, early meatballish reasons. I can't say any of them have been compelling enough to warrant my involvement.
suddenly a dark impluse surges through Askthepizzaguy:
You can be mafia if you die. You are always suicidal with your life. You love being dead. Your avatar is a freaking zombie. Get yourself lynched... get yourself lynched...
Dangit! It's my blasted bloodlust again. Sorry, fellows. Although I am presently in a state where I would be happy dead or alive, I swear I'll try to be a good townie.
I'm far too attracted to death for this game.
...Lynch me please? No! No.... stay alive. Stay. Good boy.
yes, i probably will need to be lynched soon - however hear my plea
let's not lynch anyone yet
i think it's our evil conscience when lynching that is killing people
looking at write-up lynch 1 about beefy, it seemed like he was possed or something when he "killed himself".
kill 1 also sounded like "someone" was possed by "something" that killed white-eyes, again his conscience or
"Your judgment" played a role
lynch 2 happened in reenk's room:
A little while later, a scream was heard from Rene's room
attempted kill 2 - read my earlier posts (#169), i dunno whether they are of any use, but it could indicate something :S
i dont really know how to put it altogether, but thats all i can figure out atm from the write-ups

That has precisely the strange twisted logic that YLC would use when designing the game.

Risks should be calculated.I'm agreeable in this tactic, esp. if dead people can be potential anti-town.

Then again, there exist votes against other people already:shrug:.

Indeed, and I think these could be very bad for town.
I hope people will reconsider their votes, but  everyone has to play the game their own way I suppose.
I can absolutely resolutely completely say that I am not mafia, and given my status as the selfless town, you guys should believe me
I really have no idea who to vote for (honest!), and I really don't get Taka and ATPG's conversation right now, so I'll just do it the old school way and look at the post counts...
Out of all players, 'khaan, Tevash and Glyphz has been uncharacteristically quiet.
'khaan has been hosting a game so I would kinda expect that.
Tevash - no idea.
glyphz, he managed to get 16 posts in Andres' game yet only 4 on here? and most of them are voting abstains :inquisitive:
However, the general consensous seems to be wait and see, so I will do just that.
Vote: Abstain,
I appreciate your help andres, but as ATPG said, i must address this personally, firstly apart from the fact im playing with my normal play behavior (which is lynch material in itself?) i want white eyes and reenk roink to elaborate on there points, seeing as there the most pathetic points i've heard in my life.
-reenk, you want me to vote? vote:abstain good enough? or do you just want to kill a townie for nothing
- white eyes, explain how im acting like i did on where? please :inquisitive:
Well, I don't agree with ATPG on that, because it's usually not defending that occurs, but attacking somebody who accused another player for a bad reason.
So, my intention was not protecting you, but provoking an answer from Reenk who voted you with as good as no reason.
Vote: Ares
For not having the stones to back your FoS(a bad one even) with a vote.
Is that really a good reason to vote for someone? :inquisitive:
tally:
Ares : 2 (khaan, RR)
Reenk Roink : 1 (Andres)
Quintus: 1 (TevashSzat)
Abstain: 6 (Ares, pizzaguy, glyphz, shlin, Sigurd, taka)
Not voting: 2 (Caius, Quintus)
YLC is due to do the write up in the next few hours, and i have to go very soon, seeing as i dont want to die through absurd votes, and reenk was SO unexplanative i will unvote vote:reenk roink because i'm fed up of dying and he deserves it, on the basis someone else doesnt slip in a vote against me.
Reenk Roink
01-22-2009, 20:04
What makes you think that?
Unvote : taka ; Vote : Reenk Roink
I thought it was self evident but quite simply, Ares voted for White_eyes for a terrible basically joke reason (and now he calls our reasons for voting him "pathetic :laugh4:). Then he goes and FoS's shilin but witholds voting. When someone accuses someone in Mafia games, but witholds a vote, it always seems to me that they are strategically sitting on the fence waiting for their vote to count in a big way. That is however better than switching votes constantly (which you have made a great example of :laugh4:).
My vote stands.
Now then Andres, maybe YOU should explain your voting. Instead of calling out peoples voting reasons (and using that as a reason to then vote then :rolleyes4:), perhaps you should examine your own reasons. After all, you honestly don't seem to have much confidence in them yourself with the multiple changes mmm... Neither does the town.
-reenk, you want me to vote? vote:abstain good enough? or do you just want to kill a townie for nothing
Read your post against WE and then come back to me.
EDIT: Just as I thought. He switches his vote to me to save his skin. :laugh4:
You have a choice town. Vote for me, the one who was roleblocked on the only night a murder took place or vote for Aries, who voted for WE with a BS reason, and now does exactly what I predicted him to do (Reenks Mafia Psychology 232 :book:).
Vote switching is the perfect tool to make people talk, especially in a round where nobody really is in the lead.
It made taka talk and it made you talk.
I don't know who's the best lynch for today, you or 777Ares777. I would be satisfied with a tie and an extension of this round.
Do you have other suspects besides 777Ares777 or, more in general, do you have some thoughts to share?

i couldnt care less, i realise im the easy lynch in any game now, go on, use me as a buffer as usual, like id care :shame:
guys, the more we lynch, the FASTER we all die (and lose), since we in theory we get a role after we die (which i assume is baddie role).
let's abstain the round, and let the pro-town do their thing with more time.
isnt there a game where we win by not lynching? (not sure, i think its the golden rule?)
i am sure that if we lynch, we're gonna get another killer of some sort afterwards
Just letting the town know, do to RL, voting period is extended till around 9:00 EST.
As always, make sure your plan makes sense, and take into account the character of those playing.
Please, like I said before, do not lynch anyone until you have some very strong evidence going. I'm not finding Reenk to look scummy at all right now, and lynching him will be a big mistake for town. A lynch in this game is much more significant than a mafia kill.

End Day Three...
Discussion ran rampant amongst the guests as Mr.Taka relayed his ordeal during the night. "And before I could ask my saviors name, he had vanished in a wink of an eye, gone invisible almost! I swear! I just wish he would step forward so I can properly thank him!" Someone from the back, Abel Tafani Profeta Gallo, or just ATPG for short, spoke up in a thick Italian accent. "Wait...if he speaks up, wouldn't it be possible that your atacker could try to kill him when he is vulnerable? That doesn't make much sense, explain yourself!"
Mr.Taka looked at ATPG weirdly. "Abel, I am just trying to thank the man! No harm in it! Here, I'll just say it - whoever you are, I thank you." A grumble went through the crowd. "But that still doesn't explain who your attacker was Mr.Taka!" Mr.Taka smiled proudly. "Thanks to my in depth studies, I have come to several startling theories, clues left behind by my own attacker - however, they are written in such a symbolic way that reading them as is won't help, you must look at it from a different angle. I'll start wor-"
From the back, Terrell Chance, the man who had spoken up earlier at Mr.White, opened his mouth once again. "Blah, Blah...your putting to much thought into it old man! I looked at your notes, the number 28 clearly implicates John Shlin over there!"
John, who had been thinking quietly to himself up until now, looked up with a start at Terrell's words. "WHAT?! What does the number 28 have to do with me except my age?" Again, Terrell shrugged. "It's what the evidence says." John did a quick double take, along with everyone else in the room. Terrell looked around at each person and shrugged again.
ATPG spoke up again. "Look, it's best we not loose our heads in this at all, letsa stay calm and I go make pizzapie for us all, and then we can go to sleep? Eh? Deal?"
Several nodded, although John spoke up. "I agree, however, it is obvious someone is trying to kill us all, and with the snowfall blocking us in, were trapped. I'm most suspicious of Serhiy Kwan, Vash, and Sigi Pictosoi over there - Serhiy's been busy lately, as I expect someone in his position to be, and Vash is just queit, maybe still in shock from O'Leary's death? But Sigi has made a ruckus down in the gameroom, and yet when we ask he come help us, all he does is nod and voice a "non-opinion".
But Rene then elected to speak up. "Hey now, Terrell has been the crazy one as of late, either outright using bad logic to accuse Mr.White or pointing the finger at John here and waiting for us to agree with him. And Andres over there keeps changing his opinion constantly! First he goes for the kid Quinn, then me, then what!"
Andres looked over with a knowing smile. "Dear child, I call out names not in anger or intent to harm, but only to ask the question of whom they are, and what they wish. How else do you propose I ask them? If I did not call our their name, would they know I was calling to them at all? You need not be angry when I ask your name, is it such a terrible thing? Here, to bandage old wounds, I retract my statements."
Rene brushed it off nonchalantly as the room grew stiller, until the groundskeeper cleared his throat. "Since we kinda of need to get the ball rolling here, can I have everyone just throw their vote into this here hat on a slip of paper? I'll then count it out and we can lock up whoever it is we voted for."
Everyone agreed and passed out their votes to be collected, and as each was drawn with a tense air, a squeak or sigh of relief could be heard. The groundskeeper looked a but perplexed at the final counting however. "Um, it appears we have reached a decision, and it's you Terrell." Before anyone could say a word, Terrell burst out in anger. "This isn't fair! I've at least tried to help us all while the rest of you sit on your hands! No, don't touch me, I'll go to my room and I'll lock it from the inside and slip the key under the doorway, just for you, so you can at least believe the killer is not me."
Everyone aggreed happily to the arrangement, and so Terrell was locked in his room, while everyone else went to go eat ATPG's special pie. Midway through dinner, the guests suddenly remembered poor Terrell, and Serhiy decided to give the guy a good helping of the pie - afterall, the guests weren't cruel barbarians.
But when Serhiy opened the door, he dropped ATPG's pie in shock (Later, ATPG would get angry at Serhiy for wasting his pie on him). Where once had been a rather ornate room, was now an empty canvas. It was devoid of everything except Terrell, you had been brutally beaten against the walls, and then, somehow, literally smeared across the whole of the room like wet paint until all the walls were covered in "Terrell custom color" that could make even the strong lose their dinner.
The guests went to bed that night, terrified for their very lives. Who or what were they up against?!

Ok, YLC wants me to read the night writeup, and this was my reaction:
you make-a me an italiano pisano eh? You thinka you can make-a me some big greasea-ball italiana stereotype? I wipe-a my dirty buttocks witha your mama's ankles, and shove a box of frozen spicy meat-a-balls downa your face.
Sorry, I'm usually ok at doing stock characters, but other than the old Mario brothers cartoons, I literally have never heard anyone do the classic italian stereotype.
Yeah, the Nintendo ones. Yup. I'm that much of a geekster.
I am surprised that no one has picked up that the host has elected to make me a giant greasy meatball, as if pointing the finger at me. After all, racial stereotypes aside, all Italian people are part of a new york crime family. Everyone knows that. And Andres is always wearing a fedora and smoking a cigar, and Beefy is literally just a piece of steak.
And Sasaki is always guilty.
End Night Four...
Everyone inside the House slept soundly for once, except for a couple people who got up to play cards. ATPG was dealer for a hard game of an Italian version of Blackjack that lasted 3 hours. Somehow, ATPG walked away with everyone's money. Later on during the night, Quinn awoke with a headache and kept everyone else up.
So I guess no one slept soundly after all, especially after what happened near dawn. A sudden cry out into the night was heard. It sounded eerily like Terrell, and after the cry ended, it felt like Terrell was gone forever.

I am flattered, but... why? Is this a clue? AND I KNOW I LOOK LIKE A TOTAL :daisy: -ish MAFIA by asking such a "naive" question,

But I am seriously wondering why the host is focusing on me. I haven't voted. I am a townie. The people who are dead are supernatural and killing people, except for the lynches.
I haven't contributed to night deaths or day deaths, and why would money be important in a game with...

atpg, i think you have a role. and your role is to keep people up at night to save them from things. and nab a bit of money from them at the same time :laugh4:
Askthepizzaguy

That would be SWEET.
Sadly, I have no role, that I am aware of. I am unfortunately a lynchable, murderable townie who is NOT getting where YLC is going with this.
Suggests I was more on track with the "other games clue" back a few posts. The rest, I kind of veered off course.

Forget what I was talking about 2 seconds ago.
Read all of Taka's posts, one after the other.
He was online night two. He was online all of night three.
He was just online now, having a conversation with YLC I believe.
He knows a bit too much for the average townie. He has the following mafiascum pattern:
This is part of an IM conversation I had with another orgah.

Vote: Abstain
I'm in agreement with Taka
Askthepizzaguy
01-24-2009, 11:23
Ordinarily I'd be too.
I believe that taka is directing town to remain docile so that he can do his dirty deeds, however, based on how he's been posting and when he's been active, such as at night time.
I am aware that the case isn't ironclad, and that's why I'd prefer to question his behavior rather than simply start a bandwagon.
In doubt, it's ok to be more cautious. If I were sure, I'd kamikaze him too.
Askthepizzaguy
01-24-2009, 11:28
And I'm also aware I called for people to be more cautious with their votes for this game, too...
And I know it can be seen as hypocritical, and as different from previous games. However, each game is different and requires a different strategy. A game involving the supernatural, and dead people being able to kill us, we would be better off lynching the right person, not just any person.
But due to his repeated requests to more or less control how the town behaves, I have to wonder just how innocent his suggestions are.
I'll probably be lynched for daring to make a suggestion that someone besides me is guilty, but hey, such is life, and I'll eat you all after I am dead.
I always seem to get more dangerous when I die.

Anyone want to kill me? No? Yes? No?
Either way is fine. If we're going to play me like a townie, I'd go with Taka. If you think I'm mafia, lynch me so I can eat you. Thanks.

Ok, now that Chicago is done, I need to work on this game.
I need to restate my case in a brief, concise way.
Here it is:
Taka
Votes abstain: 28
sowing doubts about others post 34.
Online at night post 65, joking, not solving the case.
Votes abstain: 88
Says he's in the library. I actually believe him.
Talks about WIFOM arguments, quicpost with smiley 93.
Votes Reenk. 94. Says what he could do would make him look scummy, which is overly defensive. Repeats his alibi.
Says he has no role, and he's bored. 96.
Cool under fire, 99. Points in his favor.
Quickpost with smiley, joke. 101
Agrees with me, but doesn't add to the discussion here. 103
Mr. taka is all over the night two writeups. not sure why. 120.
Quickpost with smiley, asks question, lols, smiley again 122.
Disagrees with a particular bandwagon 131
Taka is all over the night three writeups, was online night three. 133
Votes shlin. quickpost with smiley. 135.
Decides to tell town not to lynch anyone. 145 Abstains.
Doom and gloom 151. Scumtell.
Sucks up to me post 161, tells about "zombie versus ghost", posits new theory which is plausible. Bold mafia or townie. Asks priests to contact him... scummy, or townie, I am not sure.
Quickly reverses himself 165 after I scold him.
Andres votes Taka,
odd reasoning 167, but plausible.
Brilliant contribution 168, or mafia leaving false or self-incriminating clues. Not sure.
Posts another theory. Two theories... occam's razor suggests he's too bold to be mafia, but it's not proof. Quickpost 169
States a plausible defense 171.
Urges town not to lynch anyone, in a game where the dead can kill us or the mafia can. 175.
Even more creative theories 175. Now hold on... that's VERY brilliant. Or VERY scummy.
Asks if creative is good or bad, attention good or bad. Nowhere near a vet yet... too modest. Odd... 177
Urges town to abstain again 190. Why? I sort of agreed with it, but now I am not sure.
Taka is all over the previous day post 196.
EVER MORE CREATIVE THEORIES 203.
Too good to be a townie, I can't believe I'm saying that. 203.
Knows YLC only too well 205.
Oddly self-incriminating joke 207.
Odd post 208. Explain>?
Alive and active night four. How convenient.
urges everyone to abstain again 213.
innocent sounding question, posed to the HOST though. Scummy. 218.
Says I have a role in a silly post with a smiley 222.
Do you follow why I think he's questionable by now?
Askthepizzaguy
01-24-2009, 19:19
If Andres does not return at some point in the next couple days and explain what he meant by his previous post, I have to put him at number two on the scum list.
Fair warning, my friend. I trust you have an explanation.
Vote: Taka if I have not already.
I'm not following into a bandwagon that easily again! :smash:
To ATPG: What's wrong with Abstaining? For lack of better info, isn't it better to abstain and preserve our strength? Even if Taka is evil, don't we have a buncha pro-town roles who can stop kills and who knows what else, we may even have an investigator! So why not let them sort it out and let us relax in the sun.
I think you've become too paranoid :clown:
Askthepizzaguy
01-24-2009, 19:31
You should know better by now than to be dismissive of me. That really angers up my blood.
Do you want to try again?
Even if Taka is evil, don't we have a buncha pro-town roles who can stop kills and who knows what else, we may even have an investigator!
This is REALLY scummy reasoning. Even if Taka is a scumbag, let's leave him be???
Explain yourself.
:sweatdrop: Sorry, didn't mean to anger you... *backs away into a corner*
I'm just saying that if he is scum, there may be roles who can hold him in check, rather then basing it on some post analysis that although is very good, but not definite. Surely in this game, where we have no idea what we are against, it is better to conserve the town's numbers and get the power roles to do the badguyfinding.
:embarassed:
Askthepizzaguy
01-24-2009, 19:40
Very well. I would be willing to give Taka a reprieve while the mafioso or the investigators/blockers/whatever we might have go after him.
But Now I am suspect of you for defending him without a good reason. Do you offer yourself to be lynched instead?
To reiterate, it is in our best interest to conserve the town's numbers rather than lynching the most suspcious per a normal mafia game; so I thought it was quite reasonable for me to step in to defend Taka, given that he has not been online for 13 hours.
Also, I humbly ask not to be lynched
Askthepizzaguy
01-24-2009, 22:00
scummy, but not scummy enough to warrant my vote.
Stays on Taka for now.
Hmmm, what could I say that would not be scummy in your opinion?
1. Help Taka - Scummy!
2. Wants everyone to abstain - Scummy!
3. Explain myself - Scummy!
4. Post analysis - I think this is rather pointless at this stage of the game (because we know nothing of what we are up against) and because of that... - Scummy!
:clown:
just to let you know, im back. let me read up and i will post
edit
i will continue to push on the no vote theory even if u think i am scummy. but remember if i am lynched i will MOST probably become scummy
i have told you many times i dont have a role, but its up to you to believe whether i do or not.
THIS GAME is different to chicago, and since everyone says YLC games are not the same, i can only assume the worst for townie in this creepy game and that the best solution for townie is to preserve OUR NUMBERS. the greatest power of townies is NUMBERS.
im not sure which categories i've triggered, but i dont think it can work so early in game.
as with being up at night, i think im not the only one like that around - you too have been up all night as well as one or two others.
Askthepizzaguy

I haven't even been here, for 2-day stretches at a time, as per my usual pattern of getting online.
Shlin, you're being dismissive of me.
I never claimed to be foolproof, but I'm not a total moron.
I will however be taking a siesta. Good luck, I trust you can figure this out without my interference.
Vote stays on Taka.
Edit: This is a mafia game. Mafia have to be online at night. Certain posting behaviors hide a person's lies and guilt. It doesnt matter what kind of game it is, if there are mafia, they will smell of scum. And some people can be cleared, more or less, if someone knows what they are doing and correctly interprets the data, as I usually do...
with some recent and painful exceptions.
I am not being dismissive of you ATPG, I just felt that the ground for voting Taka and suspecting me was a bit groundless
Anyhoo, I'll be taking a rest too. Be back in 12 hours

Learning from my mistakes:
Not being single minded about things. If people act scummy, they can still be town.
I just think it's still better, on the whole, to lynch scummy people, don't you?
And I would be willing to just start lynching lurkers..... you name a lurker, I will vote for them. Lesson learned.
Vote stays on Taka.
sure thing
if i do get after-life role, i really dont mind
but still as a townie, i think we shouldnt lynch.
Reenk Roink
01-25-2009, 00:02
While I agree with taka's no lynch strategy, I was kinda suspicious how you try and lead to town like that. You seem to know a lot about ghosts and think that you got it figured out. Now you want to be our Messiah.
Vote: taka
However, do not forget about Quintus.JC and shilin28 and what they did in the first round. FoS or whatever on you both... :inquisitive:
Reenk Roink
01-25-2009, 00:09
Askthepizzaguy, going after lurkers is a horrible strategy in general. Just because you failed to listen to me and lynch Sigurd in Soiree (sorry, but I have to rub it in :beam:) does not make lurkers good choices.
What should have been realized is that boudica rarely lurks in games unless she was Mafia (see both Soiree and You Can't Win). Sigurd is too good for behavior systems anyway, he has a wide array of playing styles as both town and Mafia (and also pro-town).
