You'll be wanting one of the other forums I think. Also no one will be able to help you until you specify which game you are playing, and then post in that game's own section.

This section here is for Empire, which isn't released yet.

On the off chance that this is actually a question about ETW, trading will be pretty much like in the two previous titles. Sealanes will have those abstracted trading vesselss on, that are pretty much there for illustration. If an enemy fleet has a zone of control that intersects those trade lanes they take a chunk out of the trade and get some of that trade added to that factions money.

How transportation of armies are handled is unknown to me. Haven't heard anything about transports being under our control. Historically warships did transport troops, but the bulk was done by transports. Especially artillery and cavalry was moved on tranports, as they are quite unwieldy and hard to make place for on already fairly crowded warships. Troops on the other hand were frequently stuffed in every nook and cranny as their comfort was not a major worry to anyone in charge.

I'd certainly would like to hear more about the latter issue. Will we have to make place for transport ships in our fleets when we are moving large armies? I certainly hope so. The old "stuff any amount of troops on a single ship" just won't do anymore.
Ideally, every ship has a realistic transport capacity and every land unit has a certain transport rating and the player has to make sure their fleets capacity is equal or bigger to the load the player wishes to carry.
