I want to know who told them a tiny talking gecko with an English accent would entertain Americans. Because that man was right.

It was funny for a while. Now... something else, please.

I'm glad they're dropping the cavemen though.

More importantly, coors light has been dominating the beer ad competition. The miller light guy sounds like a douchebag and the bud light drinkability ads are so-so.

Here's a clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acCfnwTpdxU

Can one of our resident Brits confirm that the gecko is actually using an authentic Brit accent (versus some Yank with language training)? And, if so, where from: London, Man, Yorkie...?

p.s. Add me to the list of Caveman-haters. Also the list of those who don't "get" their latest icon (stack of cash with little plastic eyeballs on top).

Article about the Gecko (http://www.usatoday.com/money/advertising/adtrack/2006-07-16-geico_x.htm).

Now that the gecko has taken the lead in Geico advertising, however, he's had a subtle makeover. At the start of this year, The Martin Agency gave him bigger, more-expressive eyes, more humanlike movements, a shorter body and a slight heft to his shoulders. His voice is now provided by one announcer who speaks with a more common English accent vs. a rotation of three actors who spoke using more upper-class English.

I thought it (the voice) had changed over time.

It sounds authentic to me, I think it is from the south or midlands, tough I am not that good with accents.

They should have got a Scouser to do it.

Every bloody talking lizzard, parrot, fax machine, fox, telephone, wolf, lamb, elephant is out there selling insurance and financial services...

Also, I might say London's EastEnders (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RVlN73-V78M)? Try listening to the voice of this chap? Although, I do beleive he's actually from London.
