Carthaginian question :)

Hi all :)

What was the (historical) relationship between Carthage and the Libyan cities?? I know *some* cities changed sides very quickly. What’s the best way to portray this in a campaign. Wat kind of government should I use to represent the doubtfull loyalties of those cities??

Carthage defeated and dominated the Libyans in the same way Rome defeated and dominated the Italians. The defeated became allies of the victor - but through fear and self-interest rather than love.

Just as some Italians ended up fighting beside Hannibal, so some of the Libyans would have fought beside a Roman invader - had Rome bothered to make alliance with them.
