Multiplying units?

In this thread (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=109701) a member posted something about multiplying unit numbers, and I don't think they were talking about the ingame options.
Can someone tell me what they said and how to do it.

The limit is 240 men per unit in RTW. What the guy meant in that thread is that if the batttle involved 300 men, he would write 3000 in his AAR. Not that he actually had 3000 men on the field.

I see what they meant now, I wish CA would lift the hardcodes on such things.
