Here are 10 of the 230 children who were killed in Gaza.

Please think of them.

This thread is to remind people that in among the politicking and intellectual sparring - there are people, children, just trying to live their lives.

Far, far less of them, of course.

Loads die elsewhere in the world. Their death is no more special than others dying for reasons that are just as spurious.

I'm sure you'd agree with me that their tragic deaths were poorly commemorated by the over 200 children's lives that were taken in their name

the death of any children in armed conflict is always a tragedy.

And if killed through excessive or negligently used force it's criminal is it not?

What you fail to understand is that international law states:
> a nation state can take military action to achieve a military advantage even if it has civilian consequences, if its purpose is to secure the physical wellbeing of its citizens.
> that it is the actor that employs a human shield, not the actor that accidentally kills the human shield, that bears legal responsibility for the death of that human shield.

I hope you are not saying that these palestinian children were not military targets or that the Israeli action was disproportionate .
Because the most moral army says.....

Military action can be taken only against military targets.
The use of force must be proportional.
So according to that zionation site there were 3 kids killed in a 8 year period and as a proportional response over 200 were killed in a 3 week period .

1. indeed, the attack must serve a military end.
2. what is proportional? i would say that carpet bombing gaza would be disproportionate, it would seem the IDF agree.

The death of any child is a tragedy in which all of us lose a little piece of the future. I am sure all of the posters in this thread share a common sense of grief for all such children, be they Palestinian, Israeli, Burmese, or any other place where -- for a host of reasons -- death is untimely.

Further arguments as to the specific conflict referenced above may take place in the other extant Gaza thread.

This one will now close to prevent any unseemly argument from sullying a memoriam.

Thanks for the contributions.
