Chairete!

I have been messing around with 1.2 lately (just recently downloaded, whohoo:2thumbsup:) and I wanted to take out Casse and remake them into a new faction. So, I decided to give the region to the rebels from the descr_strat.txt file located in the imperial_campaign folder. First of all, I cut/pasted the settlement (Camulosomething, capital of the Casse) in the list of the Eleutheroi cities, then I did the same for the city garrison (placed it somewhere in the immobile armies list), but I took away all named characters, agents and fleets.

So, I was all happy and ready to go, until I fired up the campaign, only to get a good old CTD. Now my question is: what exactly did I do wrong? Or better still: How in hell do I switch cities between factions without getting a CTD?

Thanks in advance,
Maion

Did you remove all references to the Casse in all pertinent files? On brief inspection: EBBS, descr_strat, descr_regions, campaign_descriptions, perhaps export_units and export_VnVs, EDCT, descr_character, descr_formations_ai, descr_names, descr_sm_factions, EDB, EDU. There may be a couple others.
You may want to check out Hax's Great Faction Swaps (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=105682) in the sub-mods section. He has released a conversion for the Casse (into the Belgae).
EDIT: This also doesn't include the various files you'd have to make, like a new campaign map/description for the main campaign screen, etc.

Ah, thanks M'Lord. I'll discuss this with Hax perhaps:yes:

Here's another small problem I've encountered: After remoing several Casse units, I cannot get the Campaign to start and when I exit the game, I get an error message saying something like Generic error, DATABASE_TABLE or something... What is that exactly?

Perhaps there is a list of units, name lookups, or such which you need to edit in order to have # units = # data entries? Personally I haven't been bold enough to go faction-deleting and all the files I mentioned were just ones that had "casse" or "britons" in them. So any file that might need to refer to a unit's specific name or such was not included. It'd be best if you posted a thread in the sub-mods section and asked for help, or better yet check out the main modding fora for RTW in general and post any ?'s there.

For my own edification, what was it exactly?

Some references of the units I deleted in the descr_strat and descr_mercenaries files that had to be deleted.
