View Full Version : HOTSEAT - Anyone up for a Kingdoms hotseat?

Hello,
I thought I'd test the waters for a new Kingdoms Hotseat game. Having been involved of several of the previous ones here I think the Kingdoms campaigns are just the right size for hotseat games, with fewer factions that start off more developed.

The game would be Kingdoms 1.5, with battles fought by the players. I was personally thinking of the Britannia or Teutonic campaigns, as I think they were the most suited for a hotseat game. However, I'd be open to either of the others if the players preferred them.

Anyone interested?

I'd be willingly to play in one! Britannia or Teutonic is fine with me, although Teutonic is probably more in-depth.

Hi, I'm kinda new here, trying to get the EB PBEM started, but I'd love to get into a Kingdom's hotseat! Action would be more fast-paced for sure!

Teutonic or Britannia is fine by me.

Cheers!

That's at least three of us, then.
Only a couple more players and we could do the Britannia campaign (5 factions). A couple more and the Teutonic game is a possibility (7 factions if the Mongols are enabled).

Some thoughts how to set up the game.

Rules:
-48 hour turns
-Console enabled game (with admin faction, basically so if someone drops out and a replacement can't be found the faction can be switched to AI).
-Battles playable
-No cheats (including the blatant kind as well as the 20 merchants in a fort on a single resource one. :clown:).

I'm also thinking of having at least an OOC thread and one for diplomacy. Maybe a story thread if people really want one.

How's that sound?

Sounds all good to me! Hope some more people sign up quicky quick so we can start fighting over which factions we want :laugh4:

Just got word from a friend (TheFlax) that he'll join the game. That's four and counting...

I think if we get at least 6 people we should do the Teutonic game. I think it's the best balanced of the Kingdoms campaigns.

Does anyone have any preferences for how we decide on factions? I could open it up to whoever requests a particular faction first as soon as we hit the number of players we need. I've also heard of games where each person gives their first and second choices...

Whatever happens, I'll take whichever faction is left over at the end.

Well, with all the dead hotseats from the end of last year I'm up for another one.

Haven't played any of the Kingdoms scenarios yet though, so I'll be a noob.

Let's compromise on faction choices, and if two people want the same faction, we can find a fair way to determine randomly who gets their "first choice"

Glad to have you Ramses. After seeing you play in the BC hotseat, as well as your aars I don't think having to adapt to Kingdoms will hurt you much. :clown:

5 players. Only need two more if we want to fill up the Teutonic campaign. Even if no new players joined we could play the Britannia Campaign. :beam:

Redemption: That works for me. I've never seen faction choice be a huge deal, so any issues could likely be worked out.

Wtih most of the players needed we could probably start at least discussing faction choice. Assuming we play the Teutonic Campaign there are 7 factions, Denmark, the HRE, Poland, Lithuania, the Teutonic Order itself, Novgorod, and the Mongols (easily made playable).

Keep in mind that battles will be playable, so the non-catholic factions' weakness in autoresolve won't be an issue.

For my part, I'm happy to take whatever faction is left over. Having played Novgorod in the past one of these hotseats I'd kind of like to try someone new, but I'll play them again if need be. :beam:

My two faction preferences:

Novgorod
Teutonic Order

Edit: Actually, I'd probably prefer Novgorod.

I'd like the Mongols. Its the whole reason I said to Zim I'd join actually.

I'd go for either the Order or the Danes.

Or if we end up doing Britannia, clearly the Irish.

Posted the official OOC thread for the hotseat. We'll see if we can get two more players. If not we'll have two AI factions.

Redemption, I didn't know which faction was your first choice. If you prefer the Danes to the Order just let me know.

Didn't really have a favorite. They're both great though Order is clearly more of a challenge due to their central position and immediate war. So unless some newcomer is deadset on the Order, I'll be bringing the Deutschliebe to the pagan East.

As I recall, the Russians won with odds 6 to 1 in their favor.

Plus they had a LAKE on their side! That clearly counts as an exploit...

Remember the Teutonic Hoseat Campaign 2008, where the Order beat almost all the other factions (all but the HRE) attacking them in one swarm. ~;)

Do I have to beat the Teutonic campaign as one of the four starters to play as Poland, or is Poland not a SP option?

Wanted to see what I was in for. :laugh4:

Answering this in the new thread for the game (figure we better move everything there before we invoke the wrath of the mods :clown:). :2thumbsup:

I was more planning on making a few friends actually. Hopefully. Let's just say I don't necessarily rate myself as the most accomplished of hotseat players :sweatdrop:

You have to beat the Teutonic Campaign. Or change the files to make it playable from the go

You're in good company. I can't speak for Iggy or Ramses, but neither TheFlax nor I would strike terror into the hearts of enemies by the mention of their name. :clown:

Doh, there I go posting here again. :clown:

Just to make it official, I guess. Best of luck in your campaign, guys.
