Crazed Rabbit, ATPG, Karl and I all got spanked most severely at a game of versus this evening. Fortunately for the honor of this forum, we never mentioned where we were from. The shame shall pass.

Hey now, Theres no room for accusations pever. Just because CR Monk and I can own just about anyone does not mean the teams are stacked ;D

I got a MUCH better idea! Why don't you no good pieces of zombie bait get Killing Floor!? ~;) It is half the price of L4D, and it is a blast. If you do, I could join the Org team. ~;) Then you could finally get to see what this wolf has got to him. ~;)

I'm in for L4D night (Playing too much of it to buy another game though :laugh4:). I'm still trying to get at least bronze on all the survival levels too. Evidently the patch reset progress on that achievement?

I think that you will not regret buying Killing Floor. From what my friends who have both have told me, there are a lot of reasons to prefer KF to L4D.

I hate being kicked by n00bs.

For instance, I was on versus on the train level, a hunter jumped on me. This person was right next to me, saw the hunter on me, then decides to run over me away from me. Another person who was boomered (in a corner) had to get the hunter off me. While the hunter was on me I said in chat "You know, you could at least hit the hunter off me while you watched it grawled my face off then decided to run off next to me." then this guy started getting all upset in a sort of South America but very camp voice saying it is my fault the hunter pounced on me (?), then I typed back "It wasn't the hunter, it was the idiot who didn't do anything" and then I vote kicked off.

I have to admit, it is rather annoying.

I wish. The (*#&@_($&@*($@)goat($%#%$!#(@bar soap#*@$^@()$()!@#*$%@(*%&(*&@$melon)(*@#*&@$(*&@farming game made me lose my connection 1 minute after I joined, and then I was unable to join again at all.

I think we've got enough for a Org-on-Org fight.

EDIT: So is anyone going to be online tonight?

The army has me in this fancy virginian hotel with "high speed internet" for 4 months so I thought I might get some decent gaming in the evenings and on the weekend. The network is apparently 100 mbps according to my status info, but i suppose with 100+ people sharing it it slows down because I'm consistently getting 1500 pings except at 5 in the morning.

So now I have to pick a wireless provider and make some decisions that will land me in a contract for a couple of years, or just suck it up and not play.....

Does anyone know any good extra campaigns? I know they made it far easier for you to play them, but the lack of lobby in Left4Dead means I can't choose to download any that way.

I finally gave in and bought it a couple of days ago. Right now I'm busy working and getting better in the game, but I'll be ready to start MPing in about a month.

Crazed Rabbit

A month? No need to wait that long. MP is just like normal difficulty SP, except the zombies are much more crafty. And when you're a zombie, the main thing to remember is to attack in waves.

General, just go on multiplayer normal campaign mode. If you know how to point and click at enemies, you will be fine. Go on versus after you played a few times.

The changes they've made to allow add-ons are pretty cool. I tried a new map called "Dead Abroad" with Pevergreen and a few random people. It was fun and fairly unique, with stuff like a level in a giant cargo ship. Unfortunately, even after two tries, we couldn't make it past the crescendo event at the very end of the 4th level. The actual event wasn't too hard but boomers kept spawning more or less one after another and we were eventually worn down. Despite that annoyance, however, it was really detailed and well made, and actually made me interested in playing Left4Dead again.

It was a lot of fun. Who were you again?

I was Hedley Lamarr.

I played the map again and my team actually made it to the ending. The rescue vehicle is a balloon, which is neat. In the final chapter the house with the radio is a lot higher than the spawn points for the zombies, so this may very well be the only level where the sniper rifle is more effective than the other weapons. The house is also unusually far from the rescue point. It's not impossible or anything but we didn't make it even after a few attempts and we were only playing on advanced. :skull: I'd say it's a bit harder than the maps that came with the game, and not just because people don't know it as well. IMO it is more fun than the stock maps, however.

Thaats right. I thought I was playing with MRD, thats why I said burns. :sweatdrop:

The lag/me not playing well/accidently shooting people due to the two aforementioned things made me think it was someone else.

Really good semi Reunion match with CR. Ended on a good note. Hope we can get a orgah match going some time.

Crazed Rabbit
08-16-2009, 18:41
Yeah, it was quite fun. We were leading at the finale but got killed as survivors. The other team was rolling along well when it was their turn, and beat the final tank. As they ran onto the Helipad, one of them got smoked off and surrounded. I was the tank, and decided to pay the three people waiting in the helicopter a visit. :beam:

And so we pulled victory from the jaws of defeat. One of the survivors said he wished he had a 'leave the SOB behind' button. :laugh4:

To be honest I still don't have a clue what's going on in multiplayer, if you finish a map alive as the survivors do you go onto the next map as survivors? What happens if half the team survive? When playing as infected does it matter how many times you die, or do you just need to kill the survivors?

I really enjoyed the games by the way, thanks to the guys who helped me along.

pevergreen
08-25-2009, 13:36
Versus mode:

You win by having the highest score.

Score is determined by how far you get through the map before dieing, or if you reach the end, 100, plus health amount, multiplied by how many survivors reached the exit. Then at the end of all of that, it is multiplied by the map difficulty modifier (so more for a harder map etc). That is your score for the round.

The team with the highest score plays as survivors first, as the other team then gets to know the approximate location of weapon spawns and tank/witch spawns.

As infected, you have to team up. Boomers should drop down and vomit on as many as possible, while at the same time, the hunters go for ones that may be running to assist and the smoker drags anyone he can. You want to disable everyone, so if you get 3 hunters and a smoker, you should wait until a choke point (like a single doorway).

A classic one is the finale of No Mercy. When the survivors climb the ladder to the top, you should have 3 hunters and a smoker ready to get each one as they come up.

Co-ordination is the key. It will come with practice.

I really want to get back into L4D but I simply don't have any significant amount of time for gaming in the evenings right now. I am going to find some soon I hope.

I revived this thread for a reason. Because I have a question.

I live in Australia. Decent country to live in. But there are a few drawbacks. One of them is the classification system. Because of the laws in this country (which will change come 2013), Left 4 Dead 2 is heavily censored. Now, I can't wait a year, having waited 3 years since the game's release, to play the uncensored version.

My question is: Is there a way to get the uncensored Left 4 Dead 2 on Steam? The page shows that if I buy it, it will be the "Low Violence Version", which sucks total balls and ignores all the penis.

easytarget
07-19-2012, 02:45
I'll save you the suspense then, there's nothing in the unedited version worth waiting three years for.

Btw this definitely ranks as the necro of the year, congrats.

I don't really know anyone from any other country. Except Japan, where all my relatives are. And they aren't really gamers, so they don't have a Steam. And I doubt they'll make one just to gift me a game. And their English isn't great, and neither is my Japanese.

I'll just wait...
