View Full Version : eurogamer preview video
A bit of an oldish Eurogamer preview video that i havent seen linked or mentioned here - at least i think so...
Its interesting in that it puts a face in certain names that post here too as its taking place in CAs studios it seems. It also shows a bit of gameplay footage that isnt included in the promovideos - only a little though.
Enjoy;

EDIT
The bit i am refering to is the RTW like infantry vs elephant melee @3;55. The battle engine looks like M2/RTW - although this is just a momentary impression of course. The game might feel differently.
PS do i need to mention who wins in the melee?
It seems that either everyone has seen this video or its too early in the morning or CA members arent particularly photogenic...

Saw it, hadn't seen it before. Nothing I hadn't heard before, but the art guy stressing that we could get destroyed was hopeful.

It's a combination of bad lighting and no make-up on the CA guys.

From what I've seen and read so far, it's the campaign map and the naval battles that are the main difference. Land battles will still use a, presumably improved version of, the M2TW battle engine.

Agreed this goes back to that revoultion evoultion thing that CA is always on about.
Rome was a revoultion
MTW2 a evoultion
ETW a revoultion
So the thing that they revoultionized, was the naval combat. They did that engine from the ground up.
The campaign map has been changed slightly, but as you can see it bares similiar graphics to the past maps.
The land units seem to be a refined engine. Which is fine by me, I liked MTW2's engine and animations I just wanted more of them. Now I have it :)

It's a new engine guys, all of it. Yes the land engine draws on our extensive experience from previous games, but it is still a new engine with big changes under the hood. And the campaign engine is completely different, it works in a hugely different way in Empire.

Well there it is, we can now be excited about all the engines :2thumbsup:

Hopefully not in the graphical department only.
Thanks for clarifying.

Quote from the video,
"This will be the most accurate Total war to date"
Lets hope it lives up.

It will live up in regards to what they mention it for ie the ships appearance - as for the gameplay (that matters in mp), its another story.
