This day is friday, and my university closed on saturday...

So today I give choclates for all my best "girl-friend" (I didn't have any girlfriend yet), but I save the largest choclate for the one I have a crush......

And I still confused, what I have to say for her?!? that's why I create this thread:oops:

I hope you broke those jokesters teeth in. Boy or girl. People who do that are usually trying to deflect judgement on themselves.

I got my first kiss on valentines day. A short dry affair but an affair none the less. Those were simpler times. I was eleven. Holding hands was scandalous and beer tasted like crap. Needles to say I don't miss those times.

Also the first girl I ever kissed is now preggers and married at 18, so I'm glad I got her outta my system early.

To all the hopeless romantics of the Org. Good luck tomorrow and remember if you don't bed your women you get your man card revoked. ~;)but not really~!!!!!!

Actually, it has its roots in old folk traditions, but is just exploited like everything else. People just need to use their brains and get a life. I am not saying that getting your girl flowers is a bad thing (my first girl loved them), but people get obsessed.

I agree. I have a sort of disdain for the holiday that creates the second highest revenue for holiday cards (behind Christmas). The flower companies get a boost for natures beauty harvested by greedy capitalists. It's the way of the world, though so I cannot blame the poor saps. It doesn't help that I have no one, though; could be a motivating factor for my less than optimistic attitude.

Happy Valentine's day, nonetheless.

In my high school one can buy roses with some sort of note/message attached; these are sent to the appropriate official class mailboxes, and our OC teachers hand them out on the Homeroom day closest to Valentines (this year, it was today).

Let me tell ya, it's really amusing watching girls attempt to stuff their massive haul of flowers into their lockers. :laugh4:

Many even buy small bags from the school for the sole purpose of carrying the roses. :sweatdrop:

It should be noted that something like a quarter of the roses are from one guy to another guy, and half from one girl to another.

I once had a friend who was so depressed and lonely on Valentine's Day he decided it would be possible to cheer himself up by taking the train to Darlington for the day.

Which, hopefully, is a note of encouragement for those Orgahs not expecting Valentines tomorrow. Just keep reminding yourself, "it could be worse. I could be in Darlington."

For the record, tomorrow I will be one half of one of those irritatingly smug happy couples. The plan is to go see a soppy rom com in the afternoon, followed by a fancy dinner. My smugness is somewhat tempered, however, by the facts that:

1) It will cost me an arm and a leg.

2) It will mean missing the rugby.~:mecry:

well, I have decided on what I am going to spend febuary 14th doing.(warning: wierd and unusual behavior included):

1-praying that I can forget what happened 2 years ago.:shame:
2-listening to the most depressing rammstein songs..
3-doing an online VCT quiz for physics (amazingly, though I'm a poor mathematician, I'm doing pretty good (average: 99)).
4-finishing the online chemskill builder.:skull:
5-email that portuguese uniform over to Richard, for www.kronoskaf.com , plus a few more other things too complicated for non SYW buffs:clown:
6-engage in the ritual, held since 2008, of al-madhallah (lit. place of humilition)*:clown:
7-cry like a baby:clown: (actually, I won't, but you get the idea)
8-drown myself in some more work. helps me not to remember what happened that long ago.:shame:
9-of course, the only non depressing part, aside from prayer: post here with all my cyberfriends, as all my close friends have either suffered PTCD**, or are miles away, and I have no car. darn, still depressing.
10-remember and laugh at the incident, where this guy theatened me (jokingly), with "disappearence", me telling him he doesn't scare me, and a friend then quipping him that I had been through worse, in reference to that time in highschool along with that embarrassing incident in St.francis college, when I made that dumb answer.:sweatdrop: doh! even more depressing.:wall:

and lastly:

I will pull a spoof of the linkara "I am a man!" joke. here is the draft of what I have to say:

"I am a heartbroken misereable mutt, who is confused as to whether he is American or Arab, which means that I probably have to go to the library an read on this subject, as being born of 2 diametrically opposed cultures is not covered in the media as It should be" *punches some random fellows guts out*

even more depressing.:wall:

*it involved self whipping with a fake whip, banging me head through a wall, all while saying "darn ye!"-still hurts though. the head butting part is ok though-being khaleeli has advantages:clown:

**PTCD: post traumatic college disorder. symptoms are losing control of thyself, falling into the wrong crowd, doind drugs, and slipping grades. I just plain suffer from something locally known as "the chills": chilling flashbacks hurt. no I don't suffer from PTCD.

The bad thing is... that I need to study, and I'm nto sure if its such a good idea to go to the cinema, oh well...

You know how my Valentines day started? I woke up in my shitty little apartment on the edge of town in Szeged, went to take a shower and found out that the water did not work, so I went to the kitchen sink, washed my face and hands, dressed, went to the supermarket to do some shopping. Went home and found out that the woman had taken advantage of my foriegner status and wrang my fish fingers up three times (They cost 900 Forints each), then settled down on my computer to Skype call my gf and tell her something romantic. She was not signed into Skype, so I logged onto my email to see what was up. She got her eye scratched by her stupid cat this morning when she was playing with it. She is gonna be ok, but right now she has to put crap into it and she says it hurts a tonne. Now I am gonna go do some romantic laundry, clean my bathroom in a romantic fashion, take a much needed romantic nap (I have been getting VERY little sleep lately), then finish the day off by doing my Magyarora homework.

(And if you think that is too much bad luck for a holiday, then you should have seen last Valentines day. We decided that we were gonna go to Romy's (It is a Nightengale that is locally very popular here and serves VERY good food). I go to her house to pick her up and she jumps into my arms and wedges her darned knee right into my darned testicles. I spent the rest of that night barely being able to move on her parents couch wishing that I could die, then she drove me home and wouldn't stop crying and apologizing. That was when I decided that Valentines day stinks.
I didn't make any of that up either. Valentines day really stinks.

I woke up went to football practice, but couldn't play because I'm injured. I then proceeded to go play FIFA '09 with a friend and get my butt kicked multiple times. I went home for lunch to find my mother was upset with me after she prepared a great lunch that I didn't get to eat right away (because I went to play FIFA with a friend).

I sit at home reading "The Logic of Life: The Rational Economics of an Irrational World", which is pretty good, but I'm a bit tired so I accidentally fall asleep for about an hour. This is absolutely horrible because I hate naps and haven't taken one in at least a year; I feel horribly disoriented and drowsy when I take them.

So then I'm home all alone because my dad's old friend is in town and my mother and sisters are seeing my grandparents and I was supposed to have dinner with a lady friend (it really is just a friend), but received no word from her (it was a tentative plan).

So here I am posting on WAF about my wonderful....and I mean wonderful Valentines day. :wall:

Well, my Valentines sucked goat nads....

First of all "Aunt Flow" is in town this weekend, so no Valentine's booty. Then at 0400 Valentine's morning I rollover and my 5 year old boy is in bed with us burning up with a fever. The old lady and I had planned to drop the kids off at my 3 year old daughter gym (she's our little gymnist) because they're having a parent's night out so you can drop off the kids before you run off and drop off some tadpoles (of course that wasn't gonna happen cuz Aunt Flow was still chillin in the swimming hole). So for the night I cleaned our pet rabbit's cage (no sexual innuendo), picked up my daughter's new dresser and carried the mutha up the stairs by me self, and took the old dresser to some friends of ours that are making the same life mistakes we did when we were younger. So next year, I'm cancelling this Halmark holiday BS and gettin torqued!!!:2thumbsup:

I haven't received a Valentine since age 7, when Margaret Conway gave me one, and cried that I hadn't given her one (nobody had 'splained Val Day to me).

I have learned that the women I've been "with" (married, or girlfriend) expected something on Valentine's Day. A card, at minimum. I've forgotten a few times, and they've gotten a little pouty for a day or two - so I've learned to pay more attention.

Ms. K gets a nice card with her morning coffee, and a pajama-gram (http://www.pajamagram.com/?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=CPC&utm_campaign=TRADEMARK&ne_ppc_id=547&ne_key_id=712742&tracking=712742) later, if the Post Office comes through.

After-Action Report: We don't usually 'do' Valentine's Day stuff other than a card. But this year, I'd won a few bucks on the Superbowl, so had some discretionary funds. Had the usual greeting card sitting by her coffee cup (also a 'funny' one from the cat, to her). "Oh, but I didn't get one for you. I was gonna...". "Don't give it another thought, Sweetie", sez I, "I knows ya luffs me. 'Sides, it's kinda a girlie sorta holiday, right?". "Okay".

Missus K https://jimcee.homestead.com/files/lindasmall.jpg is a dear, gentle soul, automatically given to cheerfulness and compassion. She also has an abiding sense of 'even-ness', developed over years of raising 2 boys, and making sure that each got their own (of anything) in equal measure. So, even though she said "Okay.", I could see the fair-play wheel starting to spin in her adorable li'l head.

I went to work. She had the day off. About 1400 a txt msg arrives: "Home @ 4?". "No, 3 rtes 2day. Hm @ 6", I txt back. Twenty minutes later, another txt msg: "Guess wut UPS dropped off? Jammy-gram!!!". I respond: "LOL.LUV U" .

Cut to 1730. I finished up more quickly than I'd thought at work, and pulled into the driveway at home, only to see my Darlin' rushing toward her little car. "Six O'Clock, you said!" as she backs out and takes off, "Go clean up. I'll be right back." I shower, wondering 'what the...?'. She returns promptly at 1755, bag and bottle in hand.

"Sit", she orders, while laying out
https://jimcee.homestead.com/portofino.jpeg
Seafood Portofino & stuffed mushrooms, while uncorking a nice little Chianti. <---Kukri's fav meal.

She'd planned out and timed with precision this whole dinner affair (only to have my work schedule mess it up). She later explained that she'd hoped to meet me at the door with a cold can of beer, wearing the (flimsey) robe I'd got her from PajamaGram, and usher me into dinner.

Heck, she could'a handed me a can of corned beef hash, and I'd have appreciated it just as much.

I sure love that girl. Have no idea what she sees in me; but I'm grateful she hasn't kicked me out yet.

And that was my Valentine's Day, 2009.

What a lovely story Kukri. Apart from the texting part.

Is it that hard to key out proper words?

LOL. I have fat thumbs and tiny keys on my ancient cellphone. So I used a pen to type 'em out, and resort to cell-speek.

Thanks.

As someone else with fat thumbs I empathize.

And congrats on the lovely Valentines, I wish the girls I dated knew how to make pasta. I need to move to Jersey.

wow... nice Valentines day account Kukrikhan

I'm in trouble this year - apparently an email-card and a phone call explaining that Valentines Day is actually just a commercialised holiday promoted by enviromentally destructive card making company's (hence the e-card) didn't pass muster

"I thought I might go to Mukenai."

By the gods - I wish I were in Hellas, regardless of female attention!

Am I the only member of the forum who actually forgot there was a Valentine's Day, and it's date, until coming to this thread? My nephew's birthday is the 14th - I forgot Valentine and I forgot him too!

There are some miserable souls lurking this forum.. my my.. I remember the shallow days of Valentine in the High School yard, when I believed it to be a silly game that children grew above eventually.. ha!

If there is a virtuous soul who belittles the consumerism that surrounds these exploited shopping spree holidays, and who will easily present to me a gift in each day, and not on occasion - without falsehood - when this lovely creature of innocence and pretended blindness to the modern craze would exist - she's the wife for me!

Ha ha ha!
Do not misunderstand me - I could not ignore the many girls I have known and have refused them friendship and gifts; for indeed I have very chivalrous customs for my own, and have held them since I was a young child;
I mean that unless I run upon a certain lady who harnesses no fickle vices or greed in her spirit, (as I have inevitably found in all others..), I shall not be considering marriage. Or indeed anything other than a firm friendship.

Recently I thought I had discovered such richness of soul in a girl my age.

However, when I was staying at the house of her family for a week, one day she returned from work with a jewelry box which she said a friend had found in an evicted residence.
She and her friend had divided the box up like loot.
I watched her fight playfully and girlishly with her sisters over gold and silver, and they became bitter, like dogs.
A brooch, of carefully carved wood in parts - possibly a valuable heirloom to someone, was cast out in the garbage because it was not fashionable enough.

At that moment I became once more disillusioned and disappointed with my age-group and with yet another girl whom I had focused myself upon. I am confident that I shall not find what I ask of a lady until I am much older.
I hope that I am incorrect.

Surely, a beautiful girl who is sought after by every boy in her school, and charming no doubt in her playfulness.
But she is disloyal, greedy and weak - and I want nothing more than to remain her friend and do what I can to make her a wiser being.
I do not want to give to her flowers on Valentines Day and hope she will do something physical with me.

Invited my cuttie at my place for diner (lasagna and delicious eggs with mayonnaise, everything home made), then we went to a gay bar in downtown.

Don't even ask.

I didn't have a gf, but yes a girl I like. We went to dance with our friends, but saw her once in the disco. Left the disco, and went to bed. It sucked. Big time. Huge time. She won't even notice that I'm interested in her, yet I stand looking at her like I was under trance for some secs. SHE DOESN'T EVER NOTICE!!!! !!!!

Gah?

Now, I don't know much about girls, but I'm pretty sure doing that is a bad idea...

Took my gf to a murder scene from the Zodiac in San Fransisco. She loves the movie and I thought it'd be a great morbid date... and it was... :2thumbsup:
