quote from the shogun on the official page (live in sweden has never sucked more(joke))

We are holding an open day on the 25th of Feb (though this date could shift a day or two, I should be able to confirm this shortly). This will be a chance for a very lucky few to come to our Horsham office and play the game for the first time and let all your forum buddies know just what all the fuss is about. If you are UK based, over 18 and can make it to Horsham for the morning of the 25th and would like to be considered for the chance to be chosen this is what you need to do...

Email me (shoguntw@gmail.com)

With your user name and the boards you post on.
A link to some of the posts that you feel best represent your posting style
Where in the UK you are based.
Then cross your fingers really, really hard.

Good luck and please only contact me if you can make it and you are happy to write a review for the forums.

I think this means bad things for a potential demo release. I can't see them releasing a demo before having people come round, play the game and then post reviews on their forum.

Their going to play most likely the full game not a demo of the game. I dont know why everyone is making a big deal that just because they are going to play the game on the 25th means they cant possibly release a demo that contains a couple of battles before it.

Yea you know they are only going to pick 3-5 people, and let them play it and then be like, well we know we didn't give you a demo but hey these suckers got to play it.

I swear this demo is like trying to get a closed beta. Gosh dang it Sega just give us the frickin demo :P then we can all tell our friends how cool it is.

People have said it before, if they want fans to have a exclusive review then having everyone play the demo a week before limits the appeal.

CA could suprise me and actually show they care about the fans, but so far I'm not seeing it.

"Open day" my ass.

:gah:

Well, demo arguments aside, who can the forum muster to go? I'm sure we have plenty of Englishmen on here, we have nothing to lose in trying to register and hope someone on here gets selected and hopefully lives near by.

Well since he works for CA I was thinking that Jack Lusted could do a review for us. But then again, he works for CA so he may not be as critical as some.

Somehow I don't think Jack Lusted wants to do our review, espically because the only thing he'd probably here would be,

"That's great, but you still owe us a demo, about two weeks ago" :P

It could be me !!

I've sent off an email to say that I am able go to the open day ( anytime.. anywhere.. in the UK !), but as I've not posted much in the past I doubt I'll get picked, but then again I am a very experienced with 25 years of computer wargaming under my belt !!

Prehaps we can start to put together a list of questions, tasks and objectives for whoever ends up going? Do we need to start a new thread for this?

Such as -

when will the DEMO come out...!

How fast does the combat part play, ie. Average battle length in minutes, how long it would take a unit to travel across the whole battlefield ( important for setting up formations)

How long does a big sea battle take to play?

Do units fighting abilities work as in M2TW? (armour/gun upgrades, experience chevrons...bronze, silver, gold....)

When will the demo come out?

How 'modable' is the game ?

Expansion packs? ( or when will the Napoleonic expansion be released ??!!)

When will the DEMO come out ?

Victory objectives ? ( and are they same for each country ? )

PICK ME CA !!!

I fulfill all of the criteria except being able to get to Horsham on the 25th . Why did it have to be so far away?

I don't think we have to worry about getting the demo. This Open Day will be palying the full gane, including the campaign. The demo will just be a coupl of battles, so they will probably still release it.

If there is no demo by that date then you can just forget having one until after the game is out. It is only a week prior to release.

They will need, I would guess, a week and a half to get disks to shops before release. If they are still making changes now it will be hard to get the manual printed or updated in that time. Of course it could make changes even at activation but that would mean they are still in a state of chaos even now…

The demo is made less code changes to the one seen on Steam…what gives?

i bet the demo will come out a few days before the 25th

then when people show up CA can say "well you've played the demo so here give the real thing a shot!"

or at least here's hoping ^

Here's hoping it comes out tomorrow. Because at this point it's best to be super optimistic rather than realistic. (Because realistically it wont be out until just before the game is and that is depressing ).
