I just accidentally rewrote my 174 BC KH campaign...and I have no backups.

If you will indulge me... :furious3::furious3::furious3::furious3::furious3::furious3::wall::wall::wall::wall::wall::wall:

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

:gah2:

:shame:

I don't understand how this happened! The save was clearly labeled "Greece"! Why did I save my SWEBOZ campaign over it!! UFOUeofdakclekl.eql tyjtf154135azf

I was so close to the Yuezhi...so close! I was just about to send spies there...

I feel like Hitler from that scene in Downfall. :sweatdrop:

Happens to everybody, mate. It's good to vent the anger in these cases.:beam:

My mouse sometimes automatically double-clicks something even though I click once. You can imagine all the ways it can go wrong, and it does...

(btw, what are the triggers for the Yuezhi? I'm interested to know since I'm uncomfortable close, being Baktria).

EDIT: Der Untergang is an awesome movie.

I had something similar a few weeks ago - I realised in the last moment that I had overwritten all my favourite Arche Seleukeia saves with Makedone ones all except one:sweatdrop::wall::sweatdrop:, thank god I realised it in time. Luckily I have 20 saves per faction in most cases.

How well was that KH campaign going Desert?

/me hands poor Desert an Ale nr 16 from Refsvindinge. That should make you happy.

My heartfelt sympathy, my friend. I know this situation too well :shame:

That's why I save every 3-5 ingame-years with another name

Heartfelt condolences, desert.

I would offer one of my own campaign saves, but I'm only up to ca. 248 BC
...and using the Karthadastim
...and haven't upgraded to 1.2

...sorry.

Sorry to hear that.

Always save the same game at least twice, under a different name.

Yuezhi show up in 172 BC, 4 full stacks I think. I expected them to be either Casse or Luso (they show up as soldiers of one of those factions).

Thanks Macilrille, but I don't drink. :P

Here's the reconstructed map, as well as I can remember it...

Baktria recently rebelled to Baktria after the Seleukids emptied their garrisons to counter renewed Pahlavan aggression 50 years after they nearly obliterated the semi-nomads. Parthia retook Astuene, and the Gray Death took their capital at Margiana and Khwarazm. Lusotana and Carthage were taking turns sieging Arse. Rome was trying to take back Messana again.

*sighs*

I'm always paranoid about crashing or corruption with my files, from everything including game saves, schoolwork and miscellaneous documents. I mean, in EB I save at the start of my turn, during the middle of my turn (before and after each battle), before I end the turn (on one save, mind). Then, to inflate the OCD-like traits even further, after every sitting (say of 90mins to two hour) I make a back up of said save in a special back-up folder of saves (and I even have a back-up of that back-up folder on my memory stick).

Though, I'm not that crazy; when I do save my back-ups I overwrite the old back-up (which led to me quitting my Romani 1.1 campaign, but it was the impetuous for me to move to 1.2).

Tell me about it. You'd think I was playing an FPS or something, the way I save before every doorarmy move.
I've got a well-established save system though, use it almost everywhere... My current save is called camp_baktr_1a3 for example and it's easier this way to find an earlier point in the campaign timeline.
...I'm not saying it's the only way, of course. I've got a friend whose saves are called something like "F***ING SELEUCID!!!!". Also quite to the point...

Well... I overwrote all my saves as Rome, and everytime i loaded them i had to re-build my governamental buildings... Not going to play as Rome so soon (they were hell easy anyway).

I also save a lot, usually at the end of every turn (Epirus1, Epirus2, like that).

Hitler was pulling out his hair ever since D-day. As for the saves.... I'm sorry for your loss.

Macilrille

Nothing to do with Ancients, but I suspect it was not D-Day which made Adolph pull his hair out, probably he rather started during Stalingrad or Kursk.

Let us get back on topic.

No drink? But... but... Ale nr 16 tastes so nice. Is why I drink it, not to get drunk.

/me hands Desert an icecream desert.

I'm not even American, let's put it that way. Hitler thought he could pull off a peace treaty with either side (He couldn't) but D-day cemented it into his mind that he had no way out.

I often name my saves in a rather simple way; like "vhmpontus" (my first EB campaign to tell the truth :laugh4:), "hmromani". But then of course the lettering is similar at the start, so to seperate campaigns I often invert it like "pavlovahm" (and giving a joke name to your save also helps you notice it as well :beam:).

Mostly I just double check before loading or saving - I often go by the date modified and the order they're in with the file name is actually the last thing I check (as I often play a campaign for a month or two, so it is clear which file is my current game as the other saves havent been touched).

Poor fella, I usually keep two saves so if I make that mistake I usually only lose a hour of work, nothing compared to you!

If you need it I can offer you two nice city building campaign of a Epeirote (1.0) or Roman world (1.1) around 190BC.:clown:

Or try to complete my Pontos campaign (Antolia minus Bythinia, plus Rhodos, Krete and Kypros, also plus Hayasdan territories and Antioch!) (1.2)

Tell me how to upload if ya need.

Hints to vent frustration!

Get a big wooden plank (or even better a large wooden toysword) and start ramming an empty plastic bottle (has to be a large one) or hacking a giant cardboard box to pieces. works for me!:sweatdrop:

If you have an axe, cutting wood also really helps.

Just swing that axe/sword down on it with all your anger, feels awesome!:smash:

Heh, I am the usually pretty difficult to anger, but yes, that is just about the most effective treatment for rage I have ever encountered. Just imagine the wood is the computer/person/some-other-thing you loathe and hack away!

This has happened twice before. My first campaign with Carthage was erased by saving during a Rome campaign, which was erased by saving during a Saba campaign. After that I began actually naming my saves. Thankfully, I was only about 20-30 years in in those two campaigns.

I overwrote the KH save because I had played them for so long that when I tried to save as Sweboz my subconscious mind said "Greece" and I saved over Greece.

So I'm afraid this will be a recurring problem that might lead to me karate-chopping the monitor into pieces and having a mental breakdown.

I could try to overrite the appropriate save as soon as I switch to a different campaign, but I'll just forget to do that and save over the wrong thing because it's at the top of the list or something. :shame:

And thanks for the save offers, but I have to decline.

Instead of saying "In before the lock" I'm going to add in...

I did something even worse than this.

One time I had to email savegames from multiple games(Fallout 2, EB, and Galciv) to myself on another computer.

At some point I got mixed up and put the EB savegames in fallout and deleted the Fallout saves.
