Recently, I bribed a British Aphistamenoi army, and got a small unit of Cidainh with 0 mnai upkeep for my investment. I guess I now have a "general unit" without a general? No costs, and maybe even self-replenishing on top of that?

That's rather odd. I think it won't be self-replenishing, as it's having the general in the unit which decides that.

It probably is the bodyguard version of the Cidainh. It comes with zero maintenance as family members have their own upkeep cost regardless of their bodyguards. They occasionally get spawned for the Eleutheroi. It won't be self-replenishing though. That's a trait of family members, not units.

Is it possible to prevent this, i.e. make them spawn ordinary Cidainh instead?

Not as far as I know. The team would have implemented such a thing if it were possible.

The eleutheroi and revolts often ignore any restrictions we place on them. For instance, the eleutheroi "capital" can create any unit.

Thank you both.
