I need an advice.
I have started many Ptolemaioi campaigns but always I loose interest when I have conquered Mikra Asia and Syria and pushed Seleucids out from Mesopotamia(that's about 15 years in game). When that happens I just can't continue that campaign anymore!
So, how do you keep interest when playing Ptolemaioi? Any tips?:embarassed:
Well one thing would be to not kill the seleucids so fast. it takes the fun out of it, at the beginning all factions have only troops more or less levy and consecuently are pretty easy to defeat. Try only taking mikra asia and waiting a few years, maybe with a peace treaty with them, expand into africa, and get ready for an attack or to attack. That should be pretty fun.

Send your entire army to southern Italy. But dont forget to bring some elephants.
The best way to avoid getting bored of a campaign, is to play multiple campaigns at the same time. At least for me.

interesting to hear about, because i started my first real ptolemai-campaign (never liked the ptolemais...) some days ago.
i conquered very slow and i build up slowly growing.
it is a very "save" empire/campaign and i have alot of mnai. hope i don“t get bored to soon, too.
I've had the same problem with the Ptolies too. They're just not that interesting to start with.
Here's what I did to spice up the campaign a bit. I know its not that historical, but it made for an interesting political situation.
First I used move_character to evacuate all my troops from the cities in Asia Minor and Sidon. Then I used force_diplomacy to give them to the KH (I also gave them Anitoch). Then I gave KH's greek cities to Makedon (so they wouldn't be too overpowered). The idea was to simulate a shift in foreign policy for the Ptolies. Instead of taking an active role in the politics of the north they create an allied league of Anatolian and Levantine cities which will act as a buffer between them and the Seleukids. Then I was able to concentrate on Africa and even capture Axum within the first few years.
I was happy to see that the KH took well to their new location. They went of the offensive, siezed Palmyra, Babylon, and even Seleukeia. Of course then they betrayed the alliance and attacked Jerusalem :dizzy2:
As the game stands now, the Arche has struck back and captured Antioch and Babylon while I've taken Sidon. I suppose the Levantine League's days are numbered, but its still been a fun ride!

When i was in my "EB experimental phase" i tried to restrict myself to recruiting hellenic units for the
Ptolemaic army and only use local troops in certain emergencies.
Look for historical Ptolemaic problems and try to use these in your campaign ;)
