SFTS I believe you mean "capitalism at it's best".
As I understand it, JK+8 has the highest ratings on TLC and was a very intelligent thing to do overall. They have an item of value (raising an 8-kid family) and marketed it successfully to TLC. Heck, if I had 8 kids, I'd be figuring out to pay the bills somehow. I'm sure other people have large families, but they didn't become TV stars because they didn't market themselves now did they?

It's not like they're begging for cash (are they?). They were smart enough to make a TV show out of it and get someone else to pay for it, who's getting money from big advertising for a "good" show. I think y'all just jealous.

not so hot.At least they're providing for their kids with advertising dollars instead of welfare checks. Hopefully they're saving some of it for when their 15 minutes are up.

My mother was one of 8. They didn't get a TV show. And instead of the Tooth Fairy, they had a Tooth Rat.


When they lost their teeth, a nice rat would come and leave them a little something in its place.

Actually they probably aren't making serious cash. One of the reasons reality shows are so popular with networks is they are dirt cheap to produce. IF they have to pay the people starring in them at all. It's the lowest amount they can get away with under SAG rules. So these two are probably making less than $500 per episode between the two of them.

They are getting divorced... so I'm told.

I work with a woman who told me her friend met John somehow or another... long story short they are getting divorced.

Oh yeah. I forgot the best line of the story. Apparently John was going to buy a couple pitchers of beer at a bar and this one student remarks "You better save that money, Jon. you'll need it for child support. :D
