Hello to my nice little corner here on the org. Here you get screens: New ones, old ones, boring ones and of course exciting ones. :beam:

If you want to know why, where, who - please look at this: https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=113362

I also recommend this video (german speaker) for deeper interest:

The Factions: http://www.gamestar.de/index.cfm?pid=453&pk=11871

Guess what happened this morning! Our lovely buddy Max (his full name is Max Emanuel) got his copy of ETW. He is a very lucky guy!

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/56/1884556/1440_6434626339366237.jpgI ordered at amazon, so i am certainly have to wait til Wednesday/Thursday. Max is a fiendishly clever dwarfen rabbit, so he ordered at a shop outside germany. But unfortunately he isn't able to play! First, he has to wait til Steam is allowing him to play and second, i won't let him play on my comp. ~
So he gets a bit uninterested right now ... i wonder if a can bribe him with a carrot ... :idea2:

South -> New Grenada / New Andalusia / Trinidad & Tobago / Dutch Guyana / French Guyana

Now "I" like Independent ... or "India". :beam: Please excuse my lack of geographical knowledge, so i'll count Persia to India ...

Persia / Afghanistan / Baluchistan / Kashmir / Punjab / Sindh / Hindustan / Rajpootana / Gujarat / Malwa / Bengal / Berar / Ahmadnagar / Hyderabad / Orissa / Bijapur /
Goa / Mysore / Carnatica / Ceylon (Dutch)

Now from the north-west of Africa to "Minor Asia" - means "Don Voisko":

Major Factions 1: The United Provinces

The typical "Trade"-Faction. Only one Province in Europe, but 2 Provinces in wealthy regions: Ceylon and Curacao. Playing the United Provinces seems to be a tough challenge.

The main Province with the Capital Amsterdam (don't forget to visit the "Banana Bar"!):

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/56/1884556/1440_3430626239343738.jpgThe commercial port, the "door to the world" a nice little town with harbour, today no more nice and little ... but still harbour -> Rotterdam:

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/56/1884556/1440_3164663465663165.jpgA possible target in a dutch campaign could be Flanders. Also rich province, intently guarded by the spanish:

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/56/1884556/1440_3163306532666333.jpgCeylon, the dutch "foot in the door" to india:

Curacao, the dutch base in the caribean:

http://foto.arcor-online.net/palb/alben/56/1884556/1440_3261343966323665.jpgPossible first targets in the caribean: New Andalusia or Hispaniola?

Bumped for update :2thumbsup:.

It might be an idea if you post in here every time you update the OP Marten, so that people know to come and look.

This thread is great by the way .

Nice one, but Rotterdam isn't the door to the world in that age yet :2thumbsup:

So let me guess: a window (no, that's Hamburg) ... you are right. Rotterdam was at that time a nice little town and the only one with a harbour (at start of the game).

I wonder if Texel or other places could be used ... in later game :inquisitive: Updated: Text for Rotterdam changed (just kidding Wausser) and known minor nations coloured in "dark orchid".

Yes one of the benefits of steam to companies like Sega and CA is that they no longer have to worry about smaller shops breaking street day releases. They can hard code it so you can't activate it until release day.

So yea, no one is playing till 3rd or 4th, depending where and how you ordered it.

Technically I should be playing on the 3rd, but it all depends on how generous Play.com feel about when they ship the game.

You do start to wonder what the point od pre-ordering was when you won't get the game until days after other people are playing it.

Polemists

Well I always pre order due to

A. Downloading takes forever
B. If I don't amazon messes up shipping.

But yea if you can go buy it in the stores your just as well.:2thumbsup:

Ah crap... I just realised if theyre shipping on the forth most of us wont get the game until the sixth.

Unless of corse shipping on the forth means arriving on the forth then disregrad.

Polemists

Everyone is different.

Some sites are shipping on 4th, some on 3rd you've have to check with yoru shipper.

Amazon ships the regular edition on the 3rd but has slotted Special Forces Edition and Collectors into the 3rd-4th slot.

For me there's a 3 day window to get it here, and I won't be able to pick it up till seventh anyway so dosn't matter.

Only way you are playing on the 3rd tho is if you download or go out and buy it at a store.

Greyblades
03-02-2009, 13:01
Wait... amazon sells the collectors edition?

Polemists
03-02-2009, 13:40
Nope my bad they only sell regular and special forces edition.

Gamestop and Ebgames sell the collectors.

Had to keep track with 3 versions

This is how my stuff reads on Amazon. I order special edition

Delivery estimate: March 6, 2009 - March 13, 2009
Shipping estimate: March 4, 2009

Usually the delivery estimate for me is about a day off, so i'd say 7th i'll have it :)

So there is no way to get the collectors edition in the UK?

That's why I didn't pre order, I'll just go to the local games shop and buy it there(+ I still have a €10 discount voucher)

They lured me in with their offers of an exclusive unit...

On the bright side it looks like Play.com will actually be very prompt with shipping the game, so maybe there is no need to worry.
