View Full Version : Store Specific Special Forces
Hey, I've Preordered mine from Amazon UK; so I'll get the Amazon (Who actually are Amazonians :laugh4:) unit. I'm a bit of a collective freak and was wondering fo you guys think they'll ever release ALL the certain store unlockable code units to everyone eventually, or if someone will find a way of modding it? (as it seems it is already in the game for Online play).
:juggle2:
Thanks,
Relic.
P.S. To my dismay they did the same thing with Dawn of War II. Damn it! :furious3:

Hmph collectives. You know what I got for my trouble in RA3? A free +1 hat in a game i wouldnt get in a thousand years. Damn wow rippoffs couldnt even copy a half decent game.
Anyway I think all these special units are allready in the game and just need a code to unlock them, which will probably end up on the internet withing a day anyway.

The units will probably pop-up for sale on Steam, or included in an expansion. Or maybe even included in a free download if CA is feeling especially generous.
Does anyone actually know how many Pre-order units there are? I only know of three, one of which I will have.

There are only 3, so you already know of em all: The Amazons, the USS Constitution, and the Deaths Head Hussars. Then add in the 6 units in Special Forces Edition and it brings the total to 9 units available for customers outside of the regular version of the game.
I hate it when companies do this. It just burns my goat...

I see on the main page that several are for the British and 1 or 2 for French, Mughals, and a few other factions.

Well that is natural; CA is British based

And since I intend to play as Britain a lot I don't mind at all :2thumbsup:.
Typical marketing strategies, diversion, incentives etc....man, i shouldn't have flunked that marketing exam... :sweatdrop:

Yeah same here... Though I still dont know why they decided to give the collectors edition to the australians.
Actually, I believe only the HMS Victory is exclusively for the British, I'm pretty sure CA have said some of the others (like the Gurkhas) are available to anyone who holds the relevant area of the map. I'm guessing that's how the "Amazons" will work too, since AFAIK there are no playable factions in west Africa.

Rogers’ Rangers are Britain exclusive (Or at least I think it is)

I don't think this can be ruled out. Give the game a month or two after release and we could see bundles of units on sale for $10 or so, can't discount the possibility!

We need a list of what stores get which units to help peple decide where to buy it off of :P it's a shame they did do this though seems like they'll do anything to get money
Amazon : The Amazons
Game : Deaths Head Hussars
Play.com : USS Constitution

Or you could just do a search, there are lists of it out here around.

IIRC the only other one is the USS Constitution if you order from Play.com.

The special units sound a little silly to me, but I think paying a little extra to support a PC gaming company isn't a bad idea at all.
I simply can't understand why so many people think the Amazons are in fact Amazonians. These ladies are African. Dahomey was a kingdom in western Africa in the time scope of this game and actually had female soldiers. However, you could argue that they should be named Mino, which was their official title.

Amazons is a word that gets thrown around a lot whenever there is a tribe of warrior women in media. It doesn't help that no one actually knows for certain where the 'original' amazons were from, or whether they even existed.
'Real' Amazonions can arguably only be found in the Amazon rainforest now, as that is what the inhabitants are called. :laugh4:

Didn't the Spanish send back stories of female soldiers in the Americas because a lot of the Native Warriors they saw in South America proper kept their distance and had long hair?

USS Constitution is also from Best Buy.
I think this strategy is silly. Different units from different stores? Seriously, why?

Because the stores want to give you a reason to order from them rather than another store. It's standard marketing prcedure. I'm not going to complain if a store wants to give me bonus content for something I would have bought anyway :2thumbsup:.
