So...looks like Portuguese possessions in Brazil don't feature at all. Huh.

I suppose thats why they aren't one of the major factions..

I suppose, I guess they are a minor faction, but at least they are included in some form.

It looks like there is a lot of territory that is not ownable.

At least pre-mods…

That is a bit surprising all by its self.

Well I never thought you'd be able to own much outside Europe, America, Asia and the trade theatres.

maybe that's just me.

Lol, yes indeed. He wasn't amused, i had to steal it from him. And add some pieces on the corners ... :sweatdrop:

He loves to shred paper ... Anyway, i don't care ... made a copy. :beam:

Btw: Included is a 38 pages manual (mine is german of course), some nice infos but no pictures except two screenshots from campaign and battle.
Watch out for all the paper, i almost lost my code for the hussars, it is printed on a small stripe of paper. Lots of several pieces ... :inquisitive:

Not to rain on your parade, but is this...legal? It is not distributed with the normal copy of the game, and you are effectively giving it to everyone.

He's not giving a code, or the map, he's giving you a picture of what the map looks like.

The only thing the sf states is that the world map will be a custom map given to exclusive buyers. Your paying to actually own the map, not paying to own a picture of a picture of the map :P

It's no different then when gamespot shows you all the cds and items included in the Collector's Edition.

You arn't paying to see a couple pages of the art book, you are paying for the art book itself.

IMO there is not a lot of difference between the physical map and the digital version, which is what you have here.

I really understand your concerns.

1. I asked for permission (as always) to post it here.

2. Sooner or later ... It's a picture of the map. You can still download a map of feudal Japan on some locations ...

Edith says:

3. Imho what makes the Special Edition are the "Forces" not the map. It is a special offer, i payed extra money (well, Max payed). Besides, the manual or package isn't any special. Not like the one from e.g. "Anno1701" (which was really good - the whole package), made with "passion" ...? This one is just a manual ... :inquisitive:

Did you order it that way?

I hope they don’t send min that way…:sweatdrop:

Translations always loose a bit, even if it is just some pun.:laugh4:

Is there anything very revealing in the contents?:idea2:

To me there is a difference between physical and digital.

The physical I hang up on my wall or sprawl across a battle board and reinact greatness.

The digital I just look at.

So clearly I want the physical copy :2thumbsup:

Mmmh ... 2 things i remember now (have to check it after work):

You have to promote your generals and admirals - leaders start as "Brigadier" or "Captains". If you do this often e.g. you promote a lot of them, the quality of each of them will fall (new promoted ones).

If you loose the fight for your capital in rebellions and you've chosen the wrong side you'll also loose the campaign - game over!

This is interesting info! :2thumbsup:

The map looks great! Although some color to indicate factions would have been nice. Still it looks very 18th century, which is nice.

While that might have been nice for pre release I think the map is better off uncolored.

Rome's map was uncolored, and I liked it that way. Felt very roman. This in turn looks very Empirish.

Soon as you start your first turn the diplomacy screen will show you who owns what. This isn't MTW2 where you need to go trade map info.

So just knowing where the provinces are is good enough for most of us. :2thumbsup:

Actual maps from the time period usually are coloured, painted in fact. After all the British liked to look at the big red Empire covering a quarter of the globe. :2thumbsup:
I just think a coloured map would look better on a wall, but it all comes down to personal taste in this case.

yes and we all know who has better personal taste :laugh4:

Uncolored man!

Go to a local shop and purchase colored map pins and flags. Plan the campaign!:laugh4:

Of course this is not the best idea to ruin the map, so buy a large plotter while you are out and make many, many maps…then you can use your tempura paints to color your lands as you go.:beam:

:inquisitive:wonder who is rich enough and crazy enough to do just that?:sweatdrop:

Not me! I'm laminating my map to protect it from the mean outside world. Which is much to harsh and hostile to flimsy paper .

This glimpse of the map is only making me want the game more, ship the game already Play.com!

Cheers, thanks for sharing this with us!
But.. how'd you get it early? o_O

Lots of reports from people in Germany and Britain getting it from retail stores. They won't be able to play it until Steam activates the software, but they do get to look at the (I'm sure) painfully thin manual and the pretty map (if they bought the SF edition).

So is the big empty space between the great plains, northwest territories and the N American eastern sea board un conquerable?
Same for the land between the caspian and aral seas.

Thanks for posting, would someone be able to use paint or something to place factions?

Come to think of it I haven't actually been to the shops o' games in a couple of weeks.
