Hello friends,

it seems that EB multiplayer is getting more popular than ever before, yet it might be difficult to find out various Hamachi networks created to this purpose. Moreover I suppose that their number would quickly increase due to the rather narrow limit of players a non-commercial license of Hamachi coud support in one network.

Therefore I have decided to open this thread with the intent to maintain a complete list of EB dedicated Hamachi networks in order to allow us to meet in the field more easily.

I also ask for your cooperation: if you create a new network you may wish to post its name and password in this thread and I will then add it to the lit in this opening post. Thus you will have a common place to advertize and the others a convenient spot to look when searching for MP-mates.

Just a note: my hamachi got a bit messed up so if you see two Silence Hunters in one network please creators of the network delete (or kick, block, whatever the option there) the not working one. I changed my nick to be clearly recognizeable which one is working one. Sorry for any inconvenience caused...

Good idea to make this thread, Marvin. There's also a thing I'd like to add about my network (Greek EB): Due to the fact that too mnay people simply join without being very active (or not at all), I decided to kick out those that do so, in order to give space to people who actually play (considering the 16 member limit).

I am glad it actually helps you!
The list is updated now: Jebivjetar´s Croatia EB and the Phalanx300´s Tournament network added. It is great that online EB apparently gains more and more popularity!!!:2thumbsup:

And a big plea to all less active players: when going offline, use the "leave the network" option to make room for others. Once this become universally shared behaviour it will make the quest of finding partners for battle much easier for all of us!

There has to be a solution to this. The problem is you have to look up the rooms and rejoin networks every time. Maybe there's a better way out there.

Yeah, its not very useful leaving and trying to find the groups again. The only thing is, if someone takes a long break from Multiplayer battles, is for him to just leave all groups. Of course, we can always simply expand the number of groups to cover our needs  Just make sure to keep a list of every group for people, as to not get things to messy (especially for newcomers).

The only thing is, if someone takes a long break from Multiplayer battles, is for him to just leave all groups.
That was exactly my point - leave all networks you are logged in when going offline - quite easy actually to do so and to log on again when you want to play again. PROVIDED that the network is not already fully occupied by a host of off-line egoists in the meantime. That is why I am appealing to the community so that leaving networks will become an universal rule.

Of course, we can always simply expand the number of groups to cover our needs
Unfortunately we cannot. Let me give an example: you have 10 different networks (from EB00 to EB09) each capable to accomodate 16 people, right? Now you have just 16 guys who are logged on to each and every of those networks. The result: nobody else, except those ones, is able to play no matter how many networks there are.

What to do about it? Let us say, for the sake of arguent, that nobody can be member of more than one of these 10 networks. Now you can have 160 people playing and stay logged on permanently, which is great. But again, each of them will have only 15 other people to choose from for an occasional game. You can have a situation that at any given moment there would be just one person online on each of these networks so that nobody will be able to play at all, despite the fact that there are actually 10 people online at the same time.

Therefore the only real solution is to leave network when going offline to make room for others. This way one or two networks will be quite sufficient for everybody. Face it, frankly, have you ever seen a moment when there was more than 16 people online (that a single Hamachi network could support - IIRC) at the same time???

Simple answer: You just create a hroup that will satisfy a certain players, not all of them. I understand your rationale, but more groups can counter the problem in a way.

You are right Maion, in a way... You know, my trouble is that my time for playing is severely limited - I have a job and family to care about, so that when I occasionally find a while for an online battle I would be glad to play with just anybody. But unfortunately, most of the networks are already occupied or there is nobody online at the particular moment.

Anyway, ALL HAIL ONLINE EB!!!! :laugh4:

Thanx for adding Croatia EB to the list, V. T. Marvin :2thumbsup:

I've just read this about leaving network when going offline so i've logged off myself from all networks (except CroEB) in order to free up some space for other players (i wont play untill 15.06., but, when i come, you all should fear my mighty Carthage

How can we, the EB community, establish a VPN network over the Net (like Hamachi) that could support more than just 16 people, and that one would either be logged into or not logged into (not just a gray, space-hog off-line user)?

Isn't the room size only dictated by the owner or just everyone?

Leave the networks when you are signing off. It is not too much to ask for you to have to sign in again when you open Hamachi the next time. If it is too much to ask, let yourself be known publicly.

I think that EB00 and EB01 are private networks now: always full....

vartan
05-29-2009, 10:38
If you look at it that way, all of these networks are private. That's irrelevant though. I thought people made the networks on Hamachi so one could join and play with others. If you think about it well enough, you would see that one only needs a few networks (e.g. EB0 to EB9), because if any one was full of ONLINE persons, then you would simply move on to the next network, and so on and so forth. Not only do we have excess, unnumbered networks, but these networks are filled with OFFLINE users. That is the problem with Hamachi. It does not automatically sign you off a network until you choose manually to leave the network. If everybody did this, then the EB0 to EB9 concept would easily work. It's all theory, and as you may have noticed, does not work well in practice. I guess OFFLINE users need to hear this--spread the word. Until then, I'll be researching how to set up a virtual private network server in order that virtually unlimited members can log on to the same server...that way we won't have to worry about Hamachi network limits. It's like making your own Gamespy server, but for EB.

I disagree that EB MP networks are private: they are created so everyone who wants to play can join in and play. They are created by private persons, of course, but after all they are supposed to be public networks, available to every EB player interested in MP: in other case, why should they be enlisted on this topic anyway? I said that EB00 and some other networks are "private" in meaning that certain players behave like they are the only ones who have the right to play on these networks. I dont believe that they are always full of active players, but someone has a "reservation", like in restaurants and such...

Anyway, i will never-ever try to log such networks again. So i call them "private" networks (read: available only for "primus inter pares" persons)

Sorry guys (especially the ones who are annoyed by full networks) I've been inactive due to my exams and will be so for some time. Hopefully will get some time to play when the exam period ends. Anyway I've just left two networks I've been logged in (I haven't been on EB00 or EB01...).

My suggestion would be to restructure the networks. By it I mean deleting all existing networks and creating a EB00 to EB09 networks from scratch. However we need some people who are active MP players to do that job. Say divide it for 5-6 different people so they can create these ten networks. It would also be good to create them according to timezones. Let's say EB00-EB06 for Europe, EB07-08 for Americas and EB09 for Asia and Pacific. Assign these networks to corresponding active MP people from each region. These people would also have the means to kick people from networks. I don't mean kicking people just randomly, but say do a "maintenance" every two weeks and kick everyone out of the network. This would mean that the networks operate well and even people who forget to leave the network don't use the valuable slots.

Just my :2cents:

vartan
05-29-2009, 17:37
You wouldn't need to kick people if they were intelligent enough to leave the networks themselves...and why would you discriminate according to the time zone? Log onto Rome: Total War Internet Gamespy Server and you will not see it asking you for a time zone. Its point is to bring people together for gameplay, no matter the timezone or location on Earth. The whole idea is to enter these Hamachi networks, and start a game with whoever is online in whichever network...

hey guys, i made a new Hamachi network that is always free.

This because i kick out (maybe everyday) all members who are inactive.

than the network is open to all people, but if you doesn t leave your slot after use i kick out you.

so, if there aren t 16 members active, you can always join this network.:2thumbsup:

this is network for person who was annoyed of see network full.:smash:

The network is EBFREE password EB

remember only for active slot.:rtwyes:

vartan

I'm doing the same thing ACS:

Network: EBFREE2
Password: EB

If you do not leave after use, you will be kicked. This way space is freed up and you have to reenter network either way.

By the way, this allows for 30 players online at once...more than enough for EB Online at the moment from the looks of it. (16-1 each network for admin is always 'on', times 2 equals 30.)

In this manner, users will only need to log into two aforementioned networks. These would be monitored and moderated weekly if not more frequently. Any other networks would then truly be temporary (e.g. for special occasions, events, and tournaments). A great example would be the Greece vs Rome tournament, or the EB Online Tournament run by...I believe it is Phalanx300 if I'm not mistaken. Hope this message gets across to the community.
