:stare: Excuse me? North Carolina Barbecue IS the real barbecue. It's been around the longest, and it tastes the best. Plus we don't ruin it with Mesquite.
At least you know what sweet tea is. Otherwise I would seriously question your southernhood.

Pulled Pork is not BBQ, neither is putting slaw on a hamburger. Brisket and sausage are the backbone of any BBQ.
Meatball you're my boy but I will bury you.

Pulled pork is the ONLY true BBQ -- and by the way, it's only "pulled pork" to people who don't know. It's sliced or chopped BBQ. And anyway, you can't BBQ a sausage because the flavor won't soak in right; that's the point of real BBQ.
I also fail to see Hushies in your list of sides; I'm afraid I'll have to count that against you as well.
A Carolina boy never stands down. Why do you think they call us "tar heels"? We stick to our ground, that's why.

Jayssuus. Brisket is the true BBQ meat any yank or Californian can do pulled pork. Brisket is an art form passed down from one Texan to the next. Pulled pork is an abomnation of God
Hush puppies? A side? Yea a side dish for the appetizers Maybe and thats if it's a light BBQ

A barbecue is not right unless the sausages are charcoal on the outside, and raw inside. And it has to be raining.

I'm sure your brisket is fine and all, but you're definitely right about one thing: any damn yankee can do "pulled pork." Only a true North Carolinian can do Chopped BBQ. Besides, I bet those damn yankees don't have the patience to cook an entire pig over the course of an entire day. That takes dedication and skill.
Trust me, man, if you've never had true chopped BBQ, you don't know. Your problem is probably that you've only had the "pulled pork" ripoff crap.
And don't you dare knock the Hushies.

My Irish father actually cooks some of the best Italian I've ever had. It's better than every "authentic" Italian restaurant I've ever been to, no matter how expensive. I seriously doubt anyone but a true Italian could beat him.

Pulled pork is pulled pork, I'm not budging on that.
As for Italian. Kush I know you are a posh northerner in 2 ways. More French than Italian. If it's not for them Mezzigiorno it isn't Italian. ~;)

Most food i find in Italian restaurants is either not as good as my grandmother's or too fancy. By too fancy, I mean she doesn't cook it because of their poor upbringing. The average Italian didn't eat it.

French? Heh... hardly.
My ancestors came from small farming villages near Naples. My grandfather still doesn't like Northern Italy.
Pulled pork is pulled pork, I'm not budging on that.
No it's not. Chopped is the way to go. And NC does it best, the stuff here in VA does not compete.
Brisket is good too, but the real BBQ is found in small, rundown looking restaurants scattered throughout North Carolina.

Personally I'm a rib man when it comes to BBQ.
I prefer brisket cooked down in Greens (with ham hock), and served with black eyed pees (with pig's tail).

Why are y'all so close minded. Any animal can be barbecued. Be it rabbit, duck, shrimp... beef, pork, whatever you catch..
My favorite thing to barbecue is beef heart.

And that's the way it should be. Everybody thinks their BBQ is the best, it's a great food to be passionate about. Makes everyone raise their game.

I'm with Strike here- pulled pork is the absolute bottom of bbq, if it even makes it on the ladder.
A rack of KC bbq ribs is tough to top, in my view.

IT'S NOT PULLED PORK! PULLED PORK IS WHAT PEOPLE MAKE WHEN THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW TO MAKE CHOPPED BBQ! IF YOU ARE EATING PULLED PORK YOU ARE EATING CRAP!
God almighty! :wall:

Yeah, me too. :laugh4: I'm not really so absurdly passionate about the BBQ thing (although I still think NC BBQ is the best) but I remain bothered by the idea of Pulled Pork. No barbecue place that knows how to make real chopped BBQ will call it "pulled pork." That's for people who think sweet tea is Nestea and eat grits with a spoon.
