Hi there, i bought Empires through steam and have downloaded all the content and installed it. Several of my friends are currently playing and everyone who has a boxed version can view multiplayer without trouble. However myself and another friend who also has the game from steam can view no games in mp at all. This is not where the problem stops, we cannot even join eachother when in previous games we have had no trouble whatsoever. Neither of us have had router issues with eachother, no firewalls are active, no anti viruses are active. The game is updated as far as steam will see fit... so really we are stuck. Are we incompatible? This happened to everyone who bought the game d2d for medieval 2 as well. Im hoping the same mistake has not been made twice.
Any tips would be helpful
Not that I'm saying your thread doesn't belong here, but it would probably be best/fastest if you also made a duplicate thread at the Steam forums in the ETW section.

Ive posted this in 5 different places, and steam support reply within the week, not the hour

Because ETW uses Steam for copy protection the game will only become active on Wednesday 4th March.
Does this have anything to do with it?

That'd be my guess
It's possible that the different versions can't see each other due to some activation error, or needing to be unlocked. Though if that's the case how could you even install if your version wasn't ready to be activated yet? :dizzy2: I guess when tomorrow comes we'll know the answer
It's mainly the North American version that isn't unlocked until the 4th (something about authentication servers). Plenty of people are playing, as evident by the MP group. Gah. :skull:
