Irish Units?

Hi, I was interested in playing a casse campaign, but without the elite irish units, it feels a bit gutted. I dont really care if they are ahistorical, but how do you reanable those seleucid look alikes and the hammer troops? Also, im running vista, and any time I try to use word pad or anything else to change the files, it wont let me save. Any hints? Thank you

Check to make sure the files and folders aren't write-protected. I usually use word pad to do any editing / html, etc.

Yeah, the units would add some uniqueness and help make up for sucky chariot generals. Good luck resurrecting them, I'd use your mod if one was made.

Do you want those units available as well? In that case, I should probably resurrect all the banished units and upload that EDU for everyone to use.

But first of all, you guys have to tell me the names of those units taken out in 1.1/1.2

Vista doesn't allow you to edit files in the program files folder directly, you have to copy them to your desktop, edit the copy and then replace the files in the program files folder with the edited ones.

Open the export_descr_building.txt file in the eb data folder (usually something like Rome - Total War\EB\Data) and do a search of the text for "goidilic infantry ordmhornaght"
you should see a line like this

recruit "goidilic infantry ordmhornaght" 0 requires factions { gauls, scythia, britons, spain, } and hidden_resource NW and hidden_resource B and hidden_resource y1 and hidden_resource n2 and hidden_resource n4 and hidden_resource n8 and hidden_resource not_here to re-enable them just delete "and hidden_resource not_here" do this for each entry for the unit. to re enable the other unit just search for "goidilic infantry uachtarach duboGaiscaocha" and do the same. Have fun!


edit: you can also enable the iberian version of the tank men using the same method, the unit name to look for is "iberian infantry dosidataskeli".

It does say in many places not to put RTW and EB into your program files. This is one of the many problems that stem from it. But I don't think there's any problem with just cutting the whole Activision folder and putting it outside your program files.
