Well, this is a bit of a personal problem, which is as follows:

Usually I get up in the morning and my stomach feels a bit irritated, I may be a bit hungry but at the same time don't feel like eating, eating something hard like bread or so can even cause me to feel relly bad. Then after about 4-6 hours of sitting around wasting time I eat breakfast and become more active, food-wise the rest of the day is then like catching up with my hunger until I eat shortly before sleep, wake up the next morning and usually the same happens again.

Now what i can eat very well in the morning are light things like yogurt but eating a yogurt every morning can be pretty expensive and doesn't give a lot of energy either, I often ate muesli but that is also expensive and also not light enough.

So I'm wondering whether anyone has an idea for some light food that is easy to make(well, it can cost a bit more if it has to) and will jumpstart me into the morning without irritating my stomach which apparently cannot handle much in the morning?
Or should i just force myself to eat something else every morning and hope my stomach changes instead of making me feel like throwing up all the time?
It's been like that for a while now and I slowly start to feel like it ruins my days/mornings and I should get this sorted out.
Any advice?

I eat shortly before sleep,

Don't do that.

For a light breakfeast, take a bowl of cornflakes or muesli with milk or yoghurt, a glass of orange juice and some fruit.

I agree, yogurt usually treats me pretty well and I have a similar though less severe problem. On occasion I will feel quite hungry early in the morning, though usually I am not hungry at all. My solution is usually to eat something with my coffee, though not a lot, a bagel with cream cheese, some yogurt, something light, and then I generally feel okay.

More seriously.

During my adolescent years I had an issue with eating bread to soon before I woke up. It would make me vomit. Maybe my body hadn't started producing the proper enzymes need to break down the starches, I don't know. It would take several hours before I could stomach it.

During that period I usually ate dairy, fruits, and proteins (mainly meats [pork chops or calf liver])) in the morning.

You might try this as well.

Oatmeal is easy & quick to make, versatile and can be combined with fresh fruit or jam and some milk. It's also cheap, about $1 for a 3lb. box, and it's healthy too.:2thumbsup:

Well, I recently tried to start eating oatmeal again... I mean, if it's good enough for a mule, it's good enough for a man.

But it doesn't take going to the spicy side as well as other breakfast cereals.

So I'll have to stick with cream of wheat, cous cous, and grits.

I'll still use them to make oatmeal lace cookies though.

Maybe you could fry some pancakes and cook some bacon but without making it too crunchy?

Avoid oily products at all cost.

Yogurts are always nice, some bananas will be pretty good as well.

Then move on to breads when you feel well.

I remember I vomited almost every morning at one point. Fried rice I got fed didn't exactly help either..

Sounds to me like your problem doesn't lie in the morning but in the evening or the day before, actually, and like your stomach is overstrained with something. You eat late, shortly before sleep - don't. Eat earlier. Do you smoke or drink alcohol in the evening? If so, try to cut it down in the late hours. Do you drink a lot of coffee/black tea? Try to cut it down. Maybe try to sleep earlier?
Anyway, try fruit for a first breakfast. Orange, satsuma, pear, apple, sth like that, plus plain water. Take a second breakfast 1-2 hours later, you can try some dark bread here (avoid the cheap toast stuff. You're german, get some good stuff from the bakery for reasonable price).
After all, it's difficult to give advice, since much of that depends on your rhythm, your general nutrition, your general health status, your sports pensum etc.
Be careful with milk products. The quota for milk sugar intolerance is roughly at 20% in Europe, the estimated number of unreported cases or of those who don't even know about is definitely higher (Asia has 80%+ for comparison). So milk is not necessarily what you need, and might even have bad effect on your bowel movements and, ahem, the noses of your fellow men. Hope that helped.

Cheese on Toast for breakfast helps me to get active during the day (it is my hangover food and does pick me up a bit).

People who's opinions I generally respect tell me: "Breakfast is the most important meal of the Day!".

I suppose they're right. But I admit: it's coffee and juice for me, until mid-day, when stuff of substance gets consumed.

If you're like my grandmother was, you mean your 11:30 cocktail.

I'd concur with similar experiences. Ironically most of the folks who've told me that are ex-military guys. One I used to work with said "You can go all day on a good breakfast". I don't necessarily agree completely with him, BUT every once in awhile when I do have a nice, big breakfast, my days are usually much better and I have much more energy. Unfortunately I tend to do the same, most of the time it's a powerbar and some milk, maybe some OJ... but that's about it.

Bunny Frogger, perhaps you should visit a nutritionist? Maybe a good investment in time and cash.

Eating well in the morning is very important to your health. Best practices are to eat most of your calories for the day before lunch and have a light dinner at least two hours before bed. I recommend fruit. Apples, peaches, bananas, blueberries, etc. Nothing with too much acid, like pineapple.

Personally I have a large smoothie for breakfast every day, made with frozen fruit, active culture yogurt, and some light juice mixed with water.

Yep, if I don't have a strong coffee before midday I struggle.

Thanks for the replies, I got/made myself some oatmeal this morning, then had some pommes frites with fish before work and I felt surprisingly well-fed at work, I even skipped the power bar I usually eat there.
Not eating before sleep is something I know about but very often it comes down to eating shortly before sleep or not sleeping at all sue to hunger. :sweatdrop:
That's what I want to change so I just need some ideas for good breakfasts.
I have a tendency to be too lazy to eat, there was a period where I ate very regularly every day etc. but that doesn't really work out when you work for 6 hours in a row etc. etc. so my habits changed for the worse somehow.
For tomorrow I got a banana or two ready, then some toast to follow up.

Also by the way, what i could eat before sleep without problems was low fat curd cheese, usually put some strawberry or similar jam into it because it's horrible by itself, works very well and suppsedly keeps your protein supply up over night, also caused me to go to the toilet rather reliably every morning so it has pros and cons, but can be done now and then. ~;)

I would probably end up having to admit my horrible "taste", or rather, tell them about all the things I don't like, i.e. most vegetables and fruits. It's gotten better at least concerning vegetables though but my parents sometimes say as a kid, milk prolly kept me alive because I drank almost exclusively milk.
That and the fact milk cures most of my stomach problems and that I believe that i generally felt better back when I drank more milk, makes me think I cannot really be allergic to milk, milk and dairy products are part of my life just like uhm, bread, I should probably have more of them.

No, not with cashews... :whip:
