Game installed fine, steam is working as it should, but everytime I try to start the game (either through steam or desktop shortcut) I get a near-instantaneous crash ("Empire.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.")
I went through and "verified" (what ever that means) the local cache files through the steam window...nothing unusual happened. Any suggestions??? :furious3:
How about a nice clean reinstall?

Mine did this too. I restarted the computer and it started....tried that?

Same here - I thought it was because I'd unlocked of the special forces and USS Constitution before trying to start the game and started panicking, but then I remembered the old 'turn it off and turn it on again' trick, and now it's 6 hours later and I'm going to be horribly tired at work tomorrow (today?)
Tired but happy!

I'm going to get the game tomorrow. So let me get this straight, I need to uninstall the demo, install ETW, restart pc, then run ETW? Am I missing any other important steps? Also, am I going to be screwed if my main harddrive is my "g:" drive and not my "c:" drive? Thanks!

You can uninstall the demo anytime you want to.
You just need to install the game to the steamapps folder.

Thread temperarily stickied, as it appears to be a common problem.
