Hi, I didn't want to be rude and post this in the actual tournament thread, so I made this one.

I'm just seeing if any of you Romani enthusiasts would like to join the Roman PBM Beyond the Seven Hills (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=264), situated in the Throne Room (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=38). I know many people from the EB forums don't know the Throne Room (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=38) or ever go there, but I strongly recommend you check it out.

BtSH (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=264)is a Roman PBM (Play by message, if you weren't sure), and has only been up a couple of months. New members are always welcomed and sought after, and I would really like to see you show some interest, maybe even sign up yourselves. It's a perfect game for those who like the Romani, enjoy roleplay, and for those who would like a bit more excitement and something a bit different to a normal Romani campaign in EB. It's all about having fun. Here you can interact with other players, make new friends both in character and out of character, and possibly even take your army into a full scale civil war. The prize? The greatest city in the world-Roma!

For more information, such as what is involved in this game, what has already occured and who is involved, please head to the BtSH forums (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=264) and check it out.

Thanks for your time.

I'm generally interested (though I'm not Romani fan, steppe people FTW) but it seamed kind of complicated and I don't have the time to read trough all the rules...

Edit: (Actually I already checked it out after reading your post in the AAR section)

The rules are more of a scan through to get the gist; most of it you pick up playing, or we'll tell you if your doing something wrong.

I think the main problem is that I've never played a "PBM" before...

Also I would have to install EB 1.1, Is it possible to have two different versions of EB at the same time? (As I need 1.2 for the tournament and my campaigns)

@Tolg-Yes, I started with no PBM experience, its really easy to pick up. And I can also PM you instructions of how to have both 1.1 and 1.2 on your comp if you want

This is also my first PBM too - my multiplayer gaming experience was solely Starcraft, Counterstrike, Command & Conquer, Cossacks, Empire Earth, and World of Warcraft. You get the gist, RTS.

A PBM is definitely a change of pace; but it REALLY fufills my RP hunger. It's not quite the same as D&D; but you make up for it by playing this awesome video game. At times you'll see that its more dialogue than action; but, it's necessary to set up our events. As we grow in the number of players that we have we can grow the number of legions and the number of fronts on which we fight - which means more action for everybody.

Come try it out, and participate how you will. The most we require is the occasional post to show that you're active. I'm sure that once you're in, you'll want to at least read the new posts every day and comment where you need to. Navarro did an excellent job setting up the entire thread structure, with additions from Bean and myself. Come on by and say 'hi'. You won't regret it.

I don't want to be a rat, but- while I have considered joining the BtsH PBM, I've already signed up for the other one, "Will of the Basileus". I'm not sure if I can do both at the same time, though I am tempted to tell you the truth.

I like the idea of playing a Strategist/General instead of being the Emperor, for a change. RP-wise, it sounds like a sound experience.

And I was thinking of installing 1.1 anyway since some of the minimods are still on 1.1-mode.

If it helps many of our players play both. I don't purely because this was my first one and I wanted to put everything into it.

I would so love to try BtSH nd DL-ed it as I restarted EB a couple of months ago (about the same time I got active here again), but it will not install :-(

BtSH is a PBM, its not a mod...we have our own forum (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=264) if you'd like to see what we mean.

Just being curious here, but how far have you actually gotten in the game?

Aha, I see. Well, it's not easy to go forward in a PBM game, you have to organize everything.

Maion, i reckon we should create a Makedonian one, for the sake of the civillized world?

One type of PBM game we haven't seen in the throne room in a while is a succession game, where someone plays the save for so many turns (usually 20 back in the old days) and then passes it on, writing a short description of what happened during their reign. They're pretty easy to set up.

With two big LotR type PBMs going on for EB, going for something different might attract some players.

Just a thought. :clown:

Thats what King of the Romans did right? I didnt like that...someone else could do it though. I dont really see what everyone else does while that one person has the save though. I thik our version is better; its the same idea on a smaller scale, that the Consuls change, and with them change the style and direction of gameplay, but while they are in office they basically hold sway.

KotR was far more like the newer games.

In succession games we just waited for each person to finish with the save, sometimes for a week at a time. Did I mention we had to walk through the snow to get it, uphill both ways? :laugh4:

I suppose he could create LotR type game if he wanted for Macedonia. I was just thinking the Org might be saturated as far as that type of game goes, but you never know.

I guess we could do a PBM game of Makedonia  When I get my Internet set up at home (about the end of the week), we can talk about this. PM me anyone who's interested so we can stay on topic here.

I have been interrested in thoos PBM games on the forum. What kept me from trying is the fact that I have little time and even less for EB at the moment:wall: (for some months to come..)

One thing however I don't really understand - how much time does a member have to make his moves and post the save? 24 hours or so I quess...

Personally I would join a Roman PBM and a Makedonian PBM aswell if I could:idea2:

Just join :)

You can actually do quite a lot without having to take the save a lot when you're short pressed on time :)

I'm enrolled in every PBM currently in the throne room (3) and it's fun :)
i'm a normal working guy, even got no pc in the weekends and yet I've got enough time to make a post here and there to matter :)

And if a macedon one is made, i'll join that one too! Or anything else :D

I'll join if I'm made faction heir! :clown:

By the way, mini, how do you work with all three of the PBMs? Don't they each have a "mini-mod" of their own you have to install or something like that? I know WotB has one, but I'm not savvy on what it edits in the files.

Actually I got 3 RTW directories on my HDD :)
one clean with EB1.2
one with EB1.1 for btsh pbm
and one with 1.1 + minimod required for wotb

I originally only had 1.2 installed. So I went to that directory and just deleted the EB folder in that directory.
This left me with a clean RTW folder :)

This i copied 2 times :) those 2 copies i used to arrange the PBM's.
Then I put the deleted folder back into the map :D

and everything still works, so it's all good :)
