My girlfriend's father was going to sell these and others he found in storage at the local flea market, though because he knows I really like ancient history, he let me keep two of them today. They're engraving blocks and thought I'd share them here with the community as I don't really know what exactly they represent (my guess is maybe the Trojan War?). Enjoy :)

I don't see much in the way of identification... sorry.

It would of helped if I could of kept the others, as they seemed to almost tell a story in different scenes, such as I think some guy getting a crown put on his head or something in one of the others.

The second one may be Megas Alexandros cutting the Gordian knot?

It certainly could be something related to the life of Megas Alexandros, the boy on the first one resemble him a bit, and if you look at the background there are some spears (sarissas?).
Very interesting:yes:

That's definitely the gordian knot as AP says. The first one therefore would seem to be either Alexander exhorting the troops or Achilles (with Patroclus) talking to the troops.

The second one looks like Megas Alexandros cutting the famous knot.

^^What they said.
You can get a general time period based on the armor, and it shows it's not from the time of the Myceneans

Yeah one of the other ones that I remember has a guy (at the time I guessed Philip II) with what looks like a scar or something on the one side of his face, a woman (I'd guess Olympias) and two young children...maybe Alexander and his half brother? They looked like they were talking to soldiers or something. Man, I wish I had the other ones...

Most likely the Turtle Creek(Treasure Aisles) Flea Market, or it could be Trader's World across the road from it at one of the outside vendor areas but he hates that one, just off of I-75 at the "touchdown Jesus" exit, or in other words, the Monroe exit. Ohio.
I agree with the people who say it's about Alexander. They look very interesting.:beam::2thumbsup:
Do you know how old they are?

No not exactly, but they look pretty darn old. I mean, I don't think people use metal engraving blocks as much anymore...by paper stuck to the back of them, my guess would be...maybe 10-20 years old? The paper looks severely faded/yellowed.

It could also be that the larger man is Alexandros's father Phillipos II and that the other is young alexander.

I know it's horrible form but I didn't otherwise know how to do it at the time and the first post of mine here is now quite large. I managed to buy the rest from him and I put the pictures of the rest(including the two I had before) up in the opening post of mine. Enjoy. The last four pictures are small blocks, not seemingly related to the larger blocks and scenes. And the first one didn't rotate right.
I thought those were real antiques, until I saw "serutaef", only then I realized Greeks wrote in reverse English! :D
