Perhaps this better belongs in the Citadel, but the whole thing was just so....weird that I couldn't help but share it with you guys. Already many of the dream's details have faded, but here's what I remember:
It was a bizarre amalgamation of Medieval 2's battle engine with "real life": I dreamed I was the castellan of a small European town (I think it/I was French). I was in the central keep, when a messenger came running in reporting that a band of Seljuk warriors were trying to break through the main gates.
I hurried out to the walls where the attack was taking place. After observing this for a minute or two, I went back down to the ground, where I then led a sally of my men (on horseback) and chased the Turks away from town, but was unable to actually capture them. I was still satisfied they wouldn't return, however, and went back to the keep.
After several hours had passed, I suddenly heard a noise. Exiting my private chambers, I discovered the Seljuks had somehow sneaked their way into not just the town, but the keep itself! They were ransacking the main audience chamber, indiscriminately killing men, women, and children as they came across soldiers, servants, etc. I still have the image of dead bodies strewn about the place....and what's odd (well, odder than the rest of the dream, anyway) is that some of them were wearing modern-day clothes. :inquisitive:
It was around that point that I started waking up. The last thing I remember from the dream before I became fully awake was my leading a small group of survivors out of the city to try and find help.
And that's it. I have no idea why I had this dream at all, much less why the (first) battle was from the Total War game I spent the least amount of time playing. Nor do I have any clue as to why I was the French, the invaders were Seljuq/Turkish, nor how I had no idea that an entire company of turban-wearing warriors managed to slip into the city unnoticed.
This is definitely one of the strangest dreams I've had in a long, long time.... :dizzy2:
