Flashes back and forth, I think they are doing something to a trade lane. How do I negate this without open war?

I have forces and fleets ready to begin war on france in quebec and am about to raid Pirate strongholds, cant risk another conflict yet.

any help please :dizzy2:

Means those dastardly Swedes are engaging in a bit of secondary mode monetary acquisition by force, AKA: Piracy.

Not necessarily against you, though, unless you're at war.

I dont see my name in the trade lane, which is od, I have my fingers everywhere. Its right near London.

Like I said, they're not necessarily after YOU. It does it for ALL ships engaged in piracy on ANY trade lanes.

I think these types of ships only go after trade routes of their enemies. If you're allied/neutral with the country responsible, then there's nothing to worry about.

If you are nation A and trading with B and C, but B and C are at war, it will hurt your trade if B cuts off the trade lanes for nation C. Though you aren't at war with B or C that doesn't mean you aren't impacted when B or C cuts off the others trade because it takes 2 to trade. I don't think there is a way to get a nation off your trade route unless you go to war with them.

There is no way of stopping this without resorting to war unfortunately. However if you aren't at war already they can't be after your ships, so it shouldn;t be a problem :2thumbsup:.

The only time it's a problem is when Spain and Morocco clog up the straights of Gibraltar with fleets parked on trade lanes.

Spain, Morocco and the Ottoman Empire seem determined to out-pirate the Barbary states :laugh4:.

Strangely enough the Barbary states are not much of a threat from my experience. All they have are light galleys, which while dangerous against brigs and sloops, if you bring a few Galleons to the fight you'll absolutely murder them.

They seem to be a faction who is only dangerous when you don't have the resources to fight them, otherwise they are easily crushed. Take a full stack of infantry and land in North Africa, burn 2/3 of their cities to the ground and withdraw. :idea2:

Interestingly enough the Barbary states were like that historically. Most of the major European factions could have wiped them out if they had wanted to, but the other major nations always interfered. Various factions liked the fact that they could count on the Barbary states to raid their enemy's ships, while they themselves paid tribute for protection.

At various times Britain, France, Spain, Portugal and even America fought the Barbray pirates, but they always came back. Until Fance invaded them they were a pretty huge thorn in the side of everyone. Apparently people in Italy stopped living on the coast because of the slave raids they made. They even raided as four North as Ireland and Iceland.

Their main fleet has a ton of galleys, I went into the first fight with them with 2 sixth rates, a few sloops and a few brigs. It was about 6 vs 13 and I thought I could crush them easily. No sir! I sank half their fleet but their strength of numbers was too much. There was a somber moment when I watched my fleet slowly sink beneath the waves, thinking of all the brave men of France who were on their way to The Locker.

Barbary would have blockaded my ports had my ally Spain not stepped in and squashed their thrust toward Savoy. I was amazed when Spain stepped up and stomped their fleet in my defense, my meager two ship reinforcements just sat back and watched the mighty Galleons rip the pirates to bits. :2thumbsup: It was poetry in motion, especially when their flagship scored a hit on the lead Pirate's magazine cache!

The deeper into the game I get the more little moments like that I'm having.
