Everyone remember the outrage about the CEO's flying private jets? Well appearantly Madam Secretary has her own private jet service, the United States Air Force. Of course, unlike the CEO's who run companies that generate profits and jobs, Old Stretch-face only generates money through taxes in which she is wasting or as some say, "stimulating". So....

During this time of economic crises where are Fearless Dear Leader has asked us all to tighten our belts, shouldn't our Congress be expected to do the same? BTW, Newt used commercial airlines when he was Speaker.

I wonder who pays her carbon credits? This doesn't sound very green...

I guess it's the same everywhere. At least America is big using a private jet actually makes sense, unlike here where 2 hours in the car covers just about the entire country. But I am not a member of the green party so I am probably too stupid to get the greater picture, and I wouldn't be able to afford it if I did.

They should stick her on a C-130 hauling hydraulic fluid and chemical toilets from Andrews to Beale. :yes:

In Pelosi's defense, as 2nd-in-line for the Presidency, her being in a position where she can, quickly, be returned to a secure facility etc. IS a matter of national security.

Which is not to say that she hasn't been abusing the privilege. Insisting on only G-5's, for example, is a touch presumptuous.

Her being so high in the group doesn't mean she can go as she pleases on non-emergency situations.

:laugh4::laugh4::laugh4:
Heh, post of the day. What about the would-be VP Palin? That would be the ultimate, perfect insurance. And I do not see why people abhor Cheney so much. I like his hard-line reputation. Attempted murder of a person in a hunting trip... How attractively ruthless and resolute.

As for the jet, meh, it was originally intended for emergencies and not everyday day, I am certain. However, I have read an article about the use of private jets, and according to it, it is nearly impossible to resist further tempatation following the first taste of it. Not a justification, but even if it was, either way, the politicians are doubtfully will choose to give up any of their priviliges on the pretext of innumerable excuses.And excuses better than Biden's reamark that the rich should pay the taxes because it is "patriotic" :laugh4:. What a naive slip it was. Obviously he does not believe in it, but still, what a gaffe it was.

Wouldn't it be great if you had a high speed rail service to stick her on instead...

Agreed, hence the post-9/11 provision for AF transport. for Speaker and Pres/pro-tem o/Senate.

But:

Under the principle of separation of powers, the Constitution specifically disallows legislative officials from also serving in the executive branch. For the Speaker to become President, she must first resign her position, at which point she is no longer in the line of succession. Lawyers would have a Field Day, LOL.

Let's revert to the golden, olden days, sez I, and make the Postmaster General, I dunno, 4th or 5th in line-of-succession - and entitlement to Air Force transport.*

*the fact that I aspire to that positon, means nothing. Really.
