so as everyone knows there is a bar at the side of every piece, displaying the strength of that army.
but there are 2 colors: gray and gold.
what do they stand for? the gold i think stands for the number of units, but what does the gray stand for?

I've been assuming (in the sense I have no real evidence...) that the grey bars represent how many units of armed citizenry you'll get if someone attacks that city. Can anyone confirm/set me right?

Grey is the natural garrison of troops in the city, the exact troop type differs from faction to faction. They can't be moved or used exept when the city is being attacked directly

The citizen armies are a great feature, since a garissoned building can make life tough for any force, it really adds to the challenge.

Yes it does, but these units are easily brushed aside by experienced regulars.

It does? :inquisitive:

Line up the cannons and obliterate the building, or if you don't have the patience for that, fix bayonet and charge! :charge:

When I see units taking cover in a building, my first thought is "sweet, one less unit on the field I have to worry about!" :laugh4:
