View Full Version : Trade Guide? Help?
I think the game is great but I do not have a lot of time to play. The documentation on the game is one weak spot. (As well as long load times for battles) I am posting a request from the Masters of the game to develop a guide for all aspects of trading and building money. All of us amateurs out here would appreciate the help.:help:
Updated Info:
I am requesting a guide to all aspects of trading (Fleets, ships, requirements for trade partners, etc.) and ideas on making money in the game. The documentation says send a ship out to trade. Send it where? What do I look for? What are the best places to send it? What ships are best? The documentation for trading and for units is very lacking. I do not have time to explore all the units in the game. I want to play when I have time to play and then sit on the pot and read about game. (The only time a busy man has to read) When will they make a manual that has some info in it and I do not mean a guide book for $19.95. I hope that clarifies what I want.
The combat controls are great. I love pushing a button and changing the facing of a unit. Move a unit up, change the facing and wow, you have flanking fire on a unit. No more point and drag.

I'm intending to write a guide to ETW. Trade will be one of the things covered :2thumbsup:. Unfortunately though it's gonig to take a while to complete, and you probably don't want to wait that long.
* Trade ships are specialised ships with a coin on their unit card.
* You send them to trade theatres which are seperate sea-only areas on the campaign map. There are some yellow anchor signs there, park a trade on one of those to set up a trade route.
* Protect your merchant ships, other factions may sink them to get your trade spot. Ther eare only a limited number of trade spots per theatre.
Hope this helps a little :2thumbsup:.

Another question then, does adding more tradeships to a single tradepost give you more money? I haven't gotten down to trying, but if it doesn't work I won't have to bother.

Anotehr question, is there a limit to how many trade ships you can assign to a trade zone?

Yes it does, although the increase is less with every ship added. The limit is however many ships you can get in a fleet (so 20).

Interesting, I had assumed otherwise, I'm already raking in a ludicrous amount with only one in each slot.

Does a trade ship gain more 'experience' and hence generate more income, if it has been trading longer, similar to the merchants in MTW2?
I will be waiting for your guide and with what you have told us so far, it will be very informative.
Thanks a lot for your help. I can't wait to try it with my one Prussian ship. All hail Prussia the Great!:clown:
Some of my warships have the coin on there after I parked them in a trade zone once so I guess they can be trade ships too
Does anyone know why I have only three trade slots and thus only allowed 3 trade partners?
are trade ships good for anything other than parking them in trade zones and troop transports?

I believe building up the port in your capital allows you more partners, not 100% certain on that though.
