The recent economic crisis has been affecting everyone so I've decided to help the family business by trying to promote it online, promoting it on forums and other areas where it could gain potential customers.
I was wondering if you have any ideas regarding cheap but effective marketing of the business, in order to bring in more customers? Looked online and some of them are quite good, I started employing them, such as flyers at community events.
Thoughts? ~:)

Hmmm... well whenever I see car magazines they always have bikini clad women.
Have you considered this route?

If that's not feasible (or considered proper in your society) you may want to look at business models of companies in the same type of market (such as pepboys, autozone, etc.).
Do you allow online purchasing or have an online catalog?

Yeap, you can go on the site and then order online. I'm promoting it on online forums, started today, plus i'm preparing a sort of marketing e-mail because we are going to launch a new product so I guess it's time for people to know about it.
Drawings. Every purchase you get to put in a chance to win a free brake job/oil change. Pick two a week. Even set it up with a nearby garage, so that it will help you both. In return for you sending people their way to get their oil or brakes changed, they will give you a discount.

cheep, shoddy commercials?:clown:
you can also try myspace or facebook, or some other place, like Ebay, google or yahoo; there are minimal tax restrictions when selling online, so I can tell you, its a potentially profitable market.
EDIT: listen to Fragony...

Viral Advertising!
All you need is a web cam (or video camera) and ability to upload the video to youtube.
Ohh and for it to actually take off... something that is fairly simple but very catchy/ or funny...
Of course sex sells but you are still in secondary school right ? (11-16) probably makes any girl friends you have a little to young to sell it with sex
If your a bit older and have willing female friends that would be a big help...
Ohh and i think someone mentioned facebook... may have just been the wind though..
