View Full Version : 32bit or 64bit vista
Hi guys just wanted to get some thoughts sorrounding the total war games and 32 or 64 bit vista. In the end i want to be able to play Rome, Medieval 2 and of course Empire.I understand issues sorrounding hardware, and compatibility. My question is will i be able to play them only in 32 bit or can i also play them on 64 bit Vista. All comments welcomed:idea2:

I see no reason why you could not play them on 64 bit.
That being so, I don't see a reason to go 64 bit. Now when Windows 7 is just around the corner.
Go with 64bit, especially when you get more than 3GB of RAM.
No real reason to go 32bit unless you have some old peripherals where you can't get 64bit drivers anymore.

Or if you have any really old games you like to play....

Are the compatibility modes in 64-bit notably worse than in 32-bit?
Well, the old 16 bit games just plain won't run in a 64 bit OS. Apparently, it's just plain unpossible. Also, Gametap (and probably a couple others) don't support 64bit OSes either.
We had a thread (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=113612) about it a little ways back.
Just wait until you can get those on GOG, i wouldn't really expect my DOS version of ATF to run in 32bit Vista either.
