Roman recruitement

I have just swapped to 1.2 and about to restart a roman campaign. I would like to get the recruitement MICS right this time. Sorry but I cannot work out how the viewer works other than what troops you are supposed to get. Its the how I am struggling with. I seeem to have got pretty lightwieght forces outside Italy particularily in Africa and Greece playing 1.1. Bretheran cavalry is supposed to be good but what with and where. Any tips would be grateful.

I am still on 1.1, so i cannot answer most of your questions. However, I can say that Rome does not have archers in its original "Latin" territories. They can recruit Greek Archers in Magna Graeca though, and some North African ones in ... North Africa, there are some Celtic ones in Gallia Cisalpina too I think, but they are not very effective.

In the latin parts they can recruit slingers, which is much more effective than any but the Cretan (and Persian, etc.) archers. Accensi can really chew away at most enemies, in 1.1 especially, but from what I hear in 1.2 as well.
