Yoyoma, do be kind and help us destroy shlin. We will make a pact.

Hmm... first you try to make me Barbecued, then you laugh and chuckle about it to your buddies over there. Now you want my help?

Heh, a daemon's got standards you know. And feelings. Besides, I'm still all beat up from earlier. You'll have to wait for me to heal up a bit before I feel safe getting involved.

Relic at E15

Any Questions or unsures, feel free to drop me a pm. i'm quite tired so i dont know if i missed anything

From now, you are not allowed to travel to north into the rows 1-12 and east columns K-T. This will result in an instant kill.

Also staying in the same location for more than 3 turns will leave you open to heat detectors. This will result in Whirlwind artillery being fired in your location, more than likely killing you

DAY 12 ENDED

DAY 13 PMs IN PLEASE Please label as something along the lines of "TE Day 13 Actions/Command"

PLEASE add co-ordinates to your orders/commands

Pah, the Dreadnought shouldn't be spawned anyway - your body could not have been brought up to the spaceship in the first place! My men were standing in that square and would have seen anyone who tried to move the body.

Host bias for Space Marines!!!

Orbital > all :laugh4:

This is what I got on Day 11, when I was killed by the soon to be killed Shaylin:

A large Eldar squad suddenly appeared and the Sergeant was under attack. They returned quick sniper fire but were outnumbered by the Eldars. Desperately seeking help, Sergeant Reenk shouted over to the Marines commanded by Shay’lin, not knowing their true intentions.

“The Enemy is in our sights! We need back up!”

With a smirk on his face, the Chaos Lord shouted to all the sergeant's squad

“Loyalist maggots of the Emperor, the Forces of Chaos... Call for your destruction!”

And with a roar from the Chaos Marines

“For the Emperor!”

The Chaos Marines rushed towards the small scout squad, one throwing a grenade.

“Death to the loyalist scums!”

The grenade exploded at the scout squad position, killing one on the spot. Sergeant Reenk shouted to his squad

“Stay vigilant Broth-”

He was cut off by the salvos of Bolter fire from the Chaos Marines, which just kept on going until all the scout squad was shredded. The scout squad was totally annihilated and the relic remained unharmed.

Even in death I still serve!
This mission is of the utmost importance. You now have three options:

Day 14

The day was clear and vision was good. There were rays of true sunshine for the first time in 2 weeks; everything was all calm and peaceful this morning.

However, the morning peace was broken by a sudden tremor as the Daemon Prince and the Eldar Avatar of Khaine continued with their fight for the third day. The Prince of Chaos was throwing everything at the Eldar Avatar: it swung the Daemon Sword several times at the Avatar only to be met by a clash of fiery metal each time. Pushing away the Daemon Sword, the Avatar of Khaine threw back a flurry of blows which was barely fended off by the Daemon Prince. Changing the Wailing Doom from sword to spear, the Avatar thrusted the weapon, aiming for its enemy’s chest. Prince Yoyoma deflected the weapon slightly with its sword and the Eldar spear lodged into its left arm. The Prince gave a short yowl of pain and grabbed onto the spear, giving it a mighty tug. The Avatar jerked forwards a few steps, into the attacking range of the Chaos Prince. The Prince threw down its weapon and used its mighty claws to slash at the Avatar; ripping through its metallic skin letting larva blood ooze out from the gaping wounds. The Avatar also let go off its weapon and the two daemons started to fight with fists and claws. Trading blows at each other, both daemons struggled against one another, like they have done for the past few days and neither wanted to back off. The Daemon Prince used his foot to kick a low blow towards the Avatar’s knee, causing the Avatar to buckle with one knee on the ground fending off the Chaos Prince. Taking the advantage, the Daemon Prince jumped onto the Avatar and although the larva blood was burning at its skin, Prince Yoyoma spat a lump of Daemon phlegm into the Avatar’s face and gave a roar of satisfaction as it carried on slashing at the grounded Avatar...

***

Driving up to the Thunderhawk evacuation ship, Commissar Beefy popped out of his Leman Russ Tank and gave a shout to the Force Commander as he and his squad was getting off the tanks.

“Sir! Take the Relic and go! We shall hold off the daemons to give you time for extraction. Make no hesitation on calling the strike when you are back on the battle barge. Only the faithful shall win the day and we are honoured to have served the Emperor. Now Go! For the Emperor!”

Looking back at Commissar Beefy, Force Commander pever gave a salute while his men were unloading the relic and carrying it onto the Thunderhawk. He had worked with Imperial Guardsmen before, but this situation was different from the rest in that the teamwork between them was equal – usually only the space marines do most of the work. There was a general reliance on each other and these Guardsmen have shown their bravery to match those of his squad. Without the Commissar and his men, this mission could have turned out quite differently. The Force Commander gave a short but meaningful reply.

“It is my honour to have served for the Emperor beside you.”

Turning back to his squad, the Force Commander boarded the Thunderhawk, and it soared into the sky with orange heat waves from its boosters that scorched the ground. Without further time wasting, the Commissar ordered his tanks to sergeant Reenk’s position.

***

The Greater Daemon watched the Prince and the Avatar fight and was in fighting mood itself. With a gleeful shriek, the Lord of Change looked at the two mechanical walkers in front of him and started mumbling words of Chaos sorcery. Looking at each other, Warboss Whitey Eyez and Sergeant Reenk knew that fighting each other is meaningless and that the greater threat was obviously the daemon targeting them. For the first time in Imperial history, Orks and Humans worked together to defeat a common foe. Both walkers ran at maximum pace towards the Lord of Change with Assault Cannon and Big Shoota blazing. The slugs made contact with the Daemon but it did not hinder its sorcery casting. With a scream the daemon unleashed a barrage of small green projectiles from its scythe wand, impaling the thick armour of the walkers with easy. Several of these projectiles ripped through the metal legs of the Dreadnought and crippled its movement; whilst the Killa Kan, although crude, was unaffected movement wise. The Dreadnought carried on with its Assault cannon fire and the Warboss close the gap with Buzza Saw spinning. The Chaos Daemon prepared another spell and started mumbling something different. Cutting away with its Buzza Saw, Whitey Eyez bobbed up and down around the daemon’s legs, avoiding the occasional kick.
Lifting its Scythe Wand, the Lord of Change was about to screech the final words when a cannon shell landed in its face. In pain the Lord looked towards the direction of fire and received another cannon shell to the chest. Three Leman Russ tanks had rolled into range from the Ork Camp, giving fire support for the two walkers. Out of the hatch was Commissar Beefy, who gave a cowboy styled shouted

“The cavalry has arrived! Let them have it!”

The Lord of Change was now fighting a worthy group of smaller enemies.

***

Making his way to the bridge of the Battle Barge to meet the Librarian Brother-Captain Taka, Force Commander pever and his Terminators lugged the relic into the room. Brother-Captain Taka greeted his Commander, and the Force Commander replied.

“Brother-Captain, we need to execute the strike or else the world will be fully tainted by Chaos. It cannot be helped; there are too many daemons on the world.”

Brother-Captain knew that ordering an Exterminatus would mean everything would be eliminated and that no life could ever spawn from the planet. He also had good men on the planet surface fighting these daemons. Turning swiftly to face the planet, Brother-Captain said in a strong tone.

“In the name of the Emperor, this world is Tainted and the act of Exterminatus will be initiated.”

***

A beam of blue light could be seen in a distance from Sergeant Reenk’s position. It has started. Moments later, a beam of light fell onto the Eldar Avatar and then another onto the Daemon Prince, seconds later both of these great beings vaporised. Beam of bright blue light could be seen all around now, and one landed on the Greater Daemon he was fighting. It gave a terrible cry of pain and melted to nothing within seconds. To his right, another beam of light landed on the Commissar’s position. He was looking into the sky, saluting, and his mouth was moving until they had all vanished. Then he looked at the Warboss who was looking at him as well. Then blank.

***

From the Battle Barge point of view, the beautiful blue-green planet was now black. A ball of black ash.

***

Taking the relic into the Battle Barge’s chapel, Librarian Taka was feeling stressed from the act of Exterminatus. Many lives were lost just to clean this Chaos filth, was it worth it? His mind was weak and disturbed.

A voice whispered into the Librarian’s psychic mind.

“Yes, why did you kill all the innocent lives of Gamrom? You have committed a crime against humanity, and now the Inquisition will come for you. They will arrest and execute you. They will execute all those in your command for your ‘execution’ of the planet.
However the dark would see what you have done. The dark know what you have done is the best you could have done. You spilt blood over the planet to reach these Chaos Daemons. Blood for the blood god. Come to the Dark. Come to Chaos.”

It cracked his mind. The Librarian looked up at the golden statue of the Emperor. His eyes were red and black.

Force Commander pever entered the room silently and approached the Librarian.

“Brother-Captain, where... is our next destination?”

“To Cadia, we need to get near the Eye of Terror to do some... research.”

Loyalist Space Marines Victory!

pever and reenk (and beefy, althought it was not his primary objective)

Well done for your excellent team working skills

Notable Players:

Most kills: White Eyes

Best commands: Shlin

Fastest to Accomplish an objective: White Eyes

I will write a commentary later. There were a few big turning points in the actions that really affected how the game went.

Also, I really want to thank EVERYONE for playing (including ares :laugh4:). It was my first game i ever hosted and i didn't really know what was going on to be honest. I learnt quite a bit about the rules of hosting and that nothing really ever can be fixed in these types of games, everything has to by dynamic.

I hope everyone enjoyed playing this BR style'd game, and balancing the game was really hard. :sweatdrop: also working on a theme that im not really pro about meant that something would have been incorrect compared to the actual series. and thanks everyone for tolerating the constant extension and mistakes and missing information in your write-ups, my bad :sweatdrop:

anyway, if anyone wants the stuff i've done and written, i'm happy to zip them in a file and send it you

Once again, Thanks all for playing

everyone had different objectives. yours was to eliminate as many non-ork players as possible. you did that by wiping out flax in one single turn on day 4 or 5 (or 6)

Thanks for hosting taka, I still don't understand Warhammer at all, but with your hosting and your great PM's I gathered enough of what was going on and understood what was happening pretty quickly. Thanks for putting up with my late PM's and stuff too.

I realize this game must have been really a ton of work to host, but the quality was very good and it was very interesting. I enjoyed it a ton, definitely among my favorite games ever.

Thanks to pever for being a great teammate too. And thank you Beefy, I'm so happy we found each other.

Nice betrayal shlin, we were sure we had this wrapped up a while back, but you made it interesting. :2thumbsup:

Thank you reenk  i understand that it would probably be hard for someone that has no idea of the Warhammer world to join in on us, but you did well!

I must admit that i was getting lazy towards the end as there was so much to write for everyone. but i am glad you enjoyed it

and with shlin playing, he was deffinately someone who added much flavour to the game, even convinced me to let him infiltrate into your group lol

Rough explaination of what I did in this game:

Pre-game:

Picked Tzeetch as my God and Alpha Legion as my Legion. This gave me two abilities - I can create illusions in one square everyday, and gave me +20% in ambushes. In retrospect I picked probably the weaker choices from the list Taka gave me (Khorne gives me damage boost, Nurgle gives me self-healing and Slannesh allows me to see everyone once every 3 days), but overall, I was pretty happy with my choices.

Day 1:

I started with 20 Chaos Space Marines. I immediately painted half of them as Blood Ravens - I have no idea who my enemies are, so might as well plan ahead. I also created an illusion of a World Eater warband near the ork camp, which I believe White Eyes noticed :smash:

Day 2:

I knew from the write-up that the Space Marines landed in two squares, so I sent an illusion of a group of Thousand Sons at one of them - this identified my Space Marines enemies as Dark Angels.

Day 3:

More repainting! Half of my troops are Dark Angels, other half remain Blood Ravens. Illusion at Ork camp again - failed to scare anyone as nobody was there... :sweatdrop:

Day 4~6

I was pretty scared at this point - from what I can read in the thread, the Orks are winning! Luckily, I encountered pever and the other pro-Imperium forces, and somehow managed to convince them I was a group of Dark Angel scouts. My Blood Ravens remain in stealth just in case I am betrayed...

Day 7~8

Engaged in combat with WE with my "allies", summoned a bunch of Eldar illusions to distract them, but they seemed not to affect them... Anyway, out of my 10 Dark Angels, I lost 9 to the Orks :skull:

Luckily, I created an illusion of a drop pod landing, and my 10 Blood Ravens quickly repainted themselves as Dark Angels - to the Imperials, it seems like I got reinforcements! :devilish:

Day 9~10

RR begins journey to get to the extraction point with the artifact - I tried everything to stop him!

First I summoned an illusion of an Eldar Avatar - that made RR crash his speeder. The next day, I summoned a group of Eldar strike bombers bombing RR's position, again stopping him from moving. These two delays allowed me to get closer, and allowed me to pwn him on Day 11.

Day 11

Got the relic from RR and transformed into a Daemon - and then the relic got stolen again... :sweatdrop:

I spent the rest of the time attacking everyone I see, but the Space Marines had already gotten too close to the extraction point... :wall:

when i first saw shlin's commands, i was like omg i know why you're the king of BR. his commands were very detailed and specific. most of the time, his commands were so good that i had to break some of my own game rules and mechanics just to accomodate them LOL

as with why orks didnt get super units, orks got the phase 2 non daemon unit like everyone else, and was given a choice of tank, killa kan or the game's only flying unit, bomba fighta. only 3 people went daemon, yoyoma, flax (as the avatar of khaine - as a counter daemon) and lastly shlin. beefy got tanks, reenk dreadnought and pever from termies to er.... relic termies :clown: both yoyoma and shlin found the relic and opened so they got daemon units. everyone else got sup'd up phase 2 units but pever probably got the weakest by far.

marines and co actually never got any reinforcements, only reenk did if i remember correctly and it was in items not manpower. Orks probably got the most reinforcements, totalling around something like 8 units iirc.

i cant seem to find shlin's Daemon role, and reenks dreadnought. but the dreadnought was identical to the killa kan, while shlin's daemon was in between the daemon prince and avatar.

Yoyoma's daemon also got an update and became more powerful (when the clouds cleared, if you guys remember)

I have about 50 or so TE PM's scattered about with my billions of Settlement PM's that I didn't delete for my commentary which seems ever less of becoming a reality. :wall:

But basically, this is my synopsis:

Pregame: Hmm, sounds like a cool game. Whoops, you mean I have to choose one of these classes? Ok, I will go scout because of all the cool gizmos. What weapon? Flamer, sounds funny.

Days 1 -3: Ok, this sounded cool but :daisy: have I gotten myself into? I have no idea :daisy: is going on. pever seems confident enough we will win, so that's good. Now I should probably stop delaying the game and get taka my orders. Yes, I'll just move towards pever because I really don't know what else to do. Hmm, I think just telling taka "move towards pever" makes me look extremely noob like I am. I know, I'll pretend to be pro and send an orbital bombardment at a random spot acting like I got intelligence and stuff. What? I only have one atm! :wall:

Day 4-7: OH NO! pever is asking me to take over his commands for a couple of rounds. Wow, I hope I don't get ourselves killed. K, the plan will be to move close to each other. Hmm, there is some enemy close by but who? I'm too much of a sissy to find out so I'll lob some frag grenades and avoid them. Woot got orbital again and pever is back plus I learned how to use the map! :2thumbsup:

Day 7-10: pever recruited shlin. He seems pretty up to date on this stuff, so good. OMG HI BEEFY! Haha, so that's where Yoyoma is. ORBITAL! DIRECT HIT! Aw, not dead yet, still was pretty cool. K we found the relic! Wow Reenk you are so pro getting Beefy on board, orbitaling Yoyoma and finding the relic. Act all cool and stuff, only taka knows about your true noobness.

Day 11-14: Ok, :daisy:, why aren't I home yet. Always getting disrupted. Hmm, after several hints taka blatantly states I am being betrayed. But who. Better send a threatening PM to shlin and Beefy saying you'll orbital them both. After all taka did say something about 2 orbitals. Or maybe not but it's a good thing to say anyway (btw did I ever get two orbitals, I think I read something but maybe I just imagined it). Damn, both of them denied it. K, well, let's go hop on Beefy's ride. :daisy: I'm dead! :furious: It was Beefy! No wait, taka says it was shlin. Makes sense, that Shaylin character taka kept telling me about might have rung a bell but I'm stupid. Ah well, I get to be a machine. Better just cover pever and Beefy until they reach home. YAY!

No swearing or abbreviations of such

Commentry

right, lets have a quick talk about all the factions:

Major factions

Space Marines - pever and Reenk

objective was to find the relic and get out. Reenk picked to be scouts, forgoing powerful grey knights and tac marines for stealth, items and abilities. pever picked termies over tac marines and assault marines.

Overall the marines were one of the weakest in terms of unit hp and firepower. However, there was two of them, so they needed to work together to get anything done. This was not an easy task though because they were on opposite ends of the map with enemies between them. Their playing style was to get as many allies and finish the mission by working together.

Reenk's was one of the weakest units along with flax, but what he had and flax didnt was the Orbital Bombardment. It had a 50% accuracy and instant death (apart from daemons) to those in the square. He wasted his first one on a totally random square :laugh4: and had to wait for Drop Pod to get another, which was used more appropriately on the daemon prince. Reenk's units were totally obsolete 1/3 into the game when daemons came into play. however he had huge movement (4 squares, only bested by flax's 5 squares) and when coupled with the speeder given to him by pever, a massive 6 squares. Shlin however (being infiltrated into the group and knowing what was happening) orders a Bloodthrister to scare reenk and crash his speeder, a devious move by shlin :smash: he was then later block by shlin again and then met his fate to shlin's guns. he came back as a dreadnought.

pever on the otherhand, was more powerful, but was :daisy: slow at only 1 square movement. at the end, he managed to get the relic to the extraction point with the help of beefy's tanks and reenk's dreadnought, which got in the way of a powerful attack by the Lord of change.

Chaos Marines - shlin

objective was to either find the relic and get out OR to turn daemon and kill everyone, the mafia of the game. shlin picked the versatile chaos marines over raptors and berserkers.

Chaos marines had more units than most other players (aside from orkz) and admittingly, probably one of the most fun roles to play imo. he could choose his own god and legion, giving him extra powers and skills, but he HAD to be aggressive to make us of the advantage. The more he killed, the more he got from the Chaos Gods. Being the lone bad guy, shlin had the world world against him and was in the middle of the map, surrounded by his enemies. However, his commands were excellently detailed and so made his infiltration into the Space Marines group easy. The SM grp had no idea shlin was the bad guy although they suspected that somthing was wrong. Towards the end, he manages to trick everyone and grab the relic from the SM, and then turning daemon.

However, I'm not really sure if it worked out or not, but he turtled the first few rounds and didnt do much, when he could have gone out and killed a load of people, boosting his powers. He did however, use his illusionary images to confuse and disrupt a lot of people and very effectively used it towards the end to steal the relic. But his transformation to the Lord of Change was a little too late in the game to be of any great significance. If he kept the relic to himself and ran to his own extraction point, he may have won the game.

Orkz - Ares, White eyes and Yoyoma

objective was to kill all the other players, kinda like the serial killers of the game. Ares and Yoyoma chose flash gitz and white eyes storm boys.

The orkz were by far the most powerful and numerous faction at phase 1. They were there to put the pressure on everyone to stop camping. with 400hp and 250 for storm boyz, hard hitting AND constant reinforcements, the Orkz would have been incredibly hard to kill. They were a bit confused to start with and chose to defend their banner instead of going out and killing people. However, yoyoma and white eyes went out on rampage a few turns after. Ares being WOG'd wasnt really that much of a damage to the Orkz but when Yoyoma turned daemon, that was when the Orks were in trouble. The real boost came when most people were camping and so i gave the orks special powers including extra firepower, movement and stealth detection increase. They took out quite a few units from various players at this point. When yoyoma turned daemon, they lost the power and white eyes was the only ork left. This wasnt a real big problem though because white eyes became the new warboss and was given extra powers - including extra reinforcements each turn. If he retreated and regrouped (like what orks do) and amassed a new full squad, he could have done massive damage to the remaining phase 1 units. However he wanted his sup'd up unit, so I gave it him early to balance things out.

White eyes then decided to look for the relic to deprive the other players of getting it so increasing his chance of winning, but was 10 minutes too late as reenk sent his orders in just before WE. this was reflected in reenk and white eye's write-up where the relics "disappeared" right in front of him.

By the time it got into late phase two white eyes, like most of the other phase 2 units, became obsolete and had to think of different ways to win (for example allying with other units to take down the daemons etc). but this never happened.

Yoyoma as everyone knows turned to be the first daemon. His signature move was to urinate on things, like when he urinated on a tank he had defeated and onto the avatar's face to blind him. By turning to daemon, his objective kinda remained the same BUT he had to kill everyone including orks and chaos forces. When he first appeared and everyone was ganging up on him, he was VERY VERY close to being defeated, only having something like a 1/4 life left or something. If everyone else pushed on to find and kill him, Yoyoma would have been removed as a threat, but he was allowed to get to full strength and he became the game's most powerful player with 1300hp and 100 damge (the avatar was 700 hp and 150 damage, and the Lord of change was 1000hp and 100 damage)

Minor factions

Eldars - Flax

The most isolated faction of the game, Flax went with the stealthy scouts as opposed to reapers and howling banshees. He got very good skills and items, but lacked the firepower and hp.

Flax's commands were also very good, the 2nd best in the game. He used his items wisely and moved alot. He would stealthily travel south and didnt even attack anyone when he had the chance to. "patience will win the day" was his motto :laugh4:. He was unlucky to have met WE when he was given the powerup as he was stomped to death by WE as he only had a measly 40hp (compared to WE's 250). However, i had planned that he would come back as the counter-daemon after his death anyways.

When he was Avatar, he needed to keep harassing the daemon prince to stop him from materialising (noted from Blood ravens omnibus). he did his job well, but the daemon prince managed to escape and avoid everyone for two days, releasing his full power. after that the avatar was at a HP disadvantage, 700 vs 1300. None the less, he managed to survive an attacked by both Chaos daemons at one time.

Imperial Guards - Beefy

The second minor faction. Beefy went with ogryns as opposed to massed guardsmen and kasrkins.

also isolated at the bottom of the map with the orkz to the west and chaos marines to the north, Beefy's best chance was to find the SM and request for an alliance. He did manage to get the alliance he asked for mid-game with the daemon prince hot on his tail trying to stomp him :laugh4: however, he was able to stealth one round which was probably his life-saving round.
After meeting up with the SM, things started to turn out good for beefy, even with the occasional battle with the daemons or killa kan, he managed to help out the marines win, as opposed to him winning his own main objective. He was also the first player to use the map for interaction eg serch building for items, etc

Notable Events:

yoyoma's turn to daemon meant that it became much harder for the orks to win, and was a major concern for everyone else. this also unlocked Flax's Avatar and the start of phase 2 units.

shlin's betrayal disrupted the SM victory by a good few rounds and then stole the relic for himself.

Overall, i must say well done to the Victors for their organisation skills

and those that nearly made it - more alliance and deception needed from you :clown:

YAY!

You know, reading from a host point of view, that is absolutely freakin hilarious :laugh4::laugh4::laugh4: u have no idea how much i am laughing at your synopsis :laugh4::laugh4::laugh4:

this was reflected in reenk and white eye's write-up where the relics "disappeared" right in front of him. You went by what time they were sent in????:furious3: (I am not up at 3:00am most of the time.....I thought you random.ORG it....or we had a speed thing.....I am really upset with that now....:furious3:

and allying with anyone.....bad idea....I was the orks.....even if I would have killed the demon....I would have been wasted by the Space Marines shortly after.....:juggle2:

Overall:Orks needed a better "objective" or a "super unit".....you knew when I lost most of buddies it was game over for the orks.....:shame: We had the damn thing at the start....if we would have ran away with it....like everyone else we would have won.....:whip:

What I did in the game

Day 1-14: Umm run!!

My motto was Hit and away.. I think it worked.

Good game for my Space Marines Buddies! You've made it!

Also.. Apologies to TheFlax.. So you weren't Chaos after all :laugh4:

I think Shlin and White_eyes had a good game over all.. In terms of deception and cunningness

being very honest, The orks were over-powered at the beginning, and after the loss of ares and yoyoma could still hold your grounds when you became the warboss, being quite balanced althought harder to win.

on full squad, you could deal 25x2 =50 + jetpack bonus (+20) and then your opponent elimination bonus of +15% damage = 81 damage.

at peak damage you did nearly a 100 damage, rivalling that of a daemon or two Leman Russ tanks.

when you lost 6 units to the terminators you wanted to quit the game because of massive damage, but when flax was outright killed in one go, he said nothing apart from "i knew i was gonna die when i lost my sneakyness :laugh4:". please dont forget that the Orks were one of the strongest units around, receiving reinforcements EVERYDAY and with higher HP and Damage than most other players right from the start. The Ork's main strategy was to 'retreat, regroup and attack' which im sure you know since you played the dwan of war series. i stimulated this by giving you reinforcements everyday. if you retreated for 2 days, that would have been 8 units recovered

i also gave you your 2nd phase unit early. if i gave you a 3rd that would have made it unfair for everyone else. if i gave u a squiggy, i would have needed to give the SM a titan and the IG a baneblade, and made shlin tzeentch himself

Most host base their happenings on time of pm received, even reenk did so in the settlement. in a game dynamic as this, thats the only way i can host it. i always press that everyone should send me their pms early, as early pms will give you advantages.

your objectives were achievable, but i admit, would be hard. thats why you need to do things with other players. if for example, you teamed up with the anti daemons (eg SM) and then turned on the anti daemons, you would have still won as your superious numbers, damage, hp and constant reinforcements gave you a massive advantage.

yes you guys did have the relic at the start, but you also encouraged yoyoma to open the box. if he kept the relic on him, how would the others have had the chance? and your objective was to kill everyone, not to keep the box

i know you are unhappy, but as a first game (thats not even a std mafia one!), theres much i need to improve on and i know that. all i can say is that next game (if i host one) i will try harder.

thank you for your support and opinion

Also.. Apologies to TheFlax.. So you weren't Chaos after all :laugh4:

 For some reason I decided to trick you into thinking I was Chaos. (My reaction was completely faked) I realized seconds later that it was completely irrelevant to the game and didn't help me. :laugh4:

Now unto the commentary of the mighty Eldars.

As it was mentioned, I had to chose between Dark Reapers, Howling Banshees and Rangers. Normally I would go with the Banshees since I find them pretty cool, but I chose the Rangers for the same reason Reenk chose the Scouts; neat abilities.

Even before the game started I had a strategy in mind, using my rapid movement during the day and the night to get into a good central position, plant a distress flare with a booby trap and wait for someone to come, armed with Range 3 Sniper Rifles and Grenades. Since I was pretty excited and bored by a paper for school, I wrote a little story introducing my squad and their mission, tying in to the short and mysterious description taka had written.

Xalfalai emerged from the webway gate with another ranger and at once they scanned the surroundings with their helmet's auspex. Nothing was amiss and he removed his conic helmet of blue and yellow, exposing an elongated face with a pale complexion, dark almond shaped eyes and long silky hair of a light brown. Breathing in, he looked around.

« So this is Orgah? It is not much to look at Eliandra. » Xalfalai spoke in melodious tones dripping with contempt.

His companion also removed her helmet, revealing a face with many similar features, if only more feminine and with dark hair.

« Nevertheless, the relic is on this world, as the Farseer fortold. Our task is clear. » The female Eldar replied in a similar musical voice, but devoid of emotions. Xalfalai nodded and tested the sights on his long rifle, there was not much else to do, but centurial beings were nothing if not patient.

Half a rotation later, Xalfalai noted that the wait was over. Two figures clad in a mesh armor of blue and yellow, covered with a camouflage cloak, emerged from the brush. One moment they were invisible, the next they appeared in plain view. Such was the ability of Eldar Rangers, unsurpassed in stealth and cunning.

« So? » Xalfalai asked them curtly.

The first of the two replied. « It is as the Farseer said, the world in overrun by the greenskins. The Orks have amassed a large Waaagh and strike, in typical fashion, without strategy or plan at the many settlements of this world. »

« But there is another force present here. » Interjected the second. « The Mon-keigh tainted by the warp are also here, we know not their motives, but we suspect they seek the same relic we do. »

Xalfalai frowned, these minor inconviniences, while inconsequential alone, might pose a threat if combined. « What of the humans of this world? »

« They fight valiantly » Answered the first of the two Eldars. « But they are doomed to failure, even if they do not yet know it. The forces amassed against them are too numerous and they are too primitive to devise a stratagem which could save them. »

Xalfalai stood thoughtful for a moment, before slipping on his helmet once more. « We will use the struggle of these Mon-keigh as cover for our operation. They will never know... » The Eldar stopped as his companions looked to the skies. Drop pods were descending upon the atmosphere of Orgah bearing the false God Emperor's children, the Space Marines.

« Fools! » Eliandra intoned.

« They are children. » One of the Rangers continued.

« They do not understand. » The other replied.

« Their meddling changes nothing. » Xalfalai finished. « For Alaitoc. »

« For Alaitoc. » The other three responded in unison.

In an unmarked clearing of the planet Orgah, four lithe figures disappeared into the thick woods.

Then the game started and taka announced that there was no night phase, prompting a question from me and then my denying having any night movement or abilities. (Again pointless denial :laugh4:) I guess I got a little too much into character, because I was very arrogant in my refusal to adapt to this new more "action-oriented" change. I kept my plan and soon enough I had planted a beacon not far from the middle of the map.

By that time, a relic or more (??) had been taken and after waiting a round or two, I realized no one really cared about my flare. My plan had failed and things went downhill from then on. The anti-camping orbital bombardments were closing in. (Curse you taka for scaring me out of hiding. :clown:) Around that time, schoolwork started piling up and I paid less attention to the game. I gave a few late (and very brief) commands ordering a move towards the city.

For all those rounds I had spotted about no one, then out of nowhere I got a PM telling me that some voice were approaching and talking about crushing me. I was flustered, my 95% stealth had been pierced. I ran, placing a booby trap behind me (totally useless as White_Eyes:D had jumpacks) but basically I knew at this point it was GG from the Eldars.

To my surprise I was offered to be revived into a Wraithlord (Walker) or if I waited until Phase 2, I could respawn as the Avatar of Khaine. I picked the Avatar and that very same round, Phase 2 kicked it. My main goal was to find Yoyoma and kill him and that's what I set out to do, with my decent movement of 4 and sight of 5 I quickly found him but was delayed by giving bad commands which sent me in the wrong direction. (I was tired and only glanced at the map, getting the axis' wrong.) When I finally closed in on Yoyoma, we slugged it out for the rest of the game.

In my opinion, the first phase of the game was very fun, even if the only thing I did was getting splattered by White_Eyes:D. All along until my death, I felt I had many options and had more to do than say: "Attack target X". Which brings me to the Avatar of Khaine. At first I'll admit there was a coolness factor of being 30ft. tall and pretty powerful, but soon I found playing him pretty boring. My turns came down to "Move there and Attack if Daemon Prince is in range." Maybe I missed something, but it didn't seem I could do anything else.

All in all, I had fun. Thank you for the game taka, you did very well for your first game. I have no complaints about your hosting. If you ever make a part two, I'd like it if most, if not all, units had abilities to activate. On a strategic level, it makes things more interesting.

Finally, I'm interested in seeing your notes about the game. You can email me at: the_flax@hotmail.com

Im in australia, get over it. :laugh4:

I got a few orks killed, but then when that killakan took out like 3 terminators in one turn, then the eldar illusions and everything.

I live though.

In hindsight, WHY DIDNT YOU TAKE GREY KNIGHTS? :laugh4:

And you wouldn't have given me a titan. Then I would win. :grin2:

If you host another one, let me know and I'll throw in my knowledge of 40k.

Great fun, I enjoyed that much more than BR, even though I forgot I had drop pods.

@flax

you have mail!

yes, looking back at the game, i think phase 2 was a bad idea in that it probably got a bit boring being a bit too "super". if i was ever to host another (maybe after beefy's Noble sons and my small mafia) i think i will keep it so that everyone gets phase 1 equivalent units and everyone gets abilities. maybe the fact that some players know that they could potentially get wiped out in one go would add more depth and careful planning to commands. thank you for the suggestion

***

On the whole i think players like shlin, flax and yoyoma had a slight edge in game due to their commands being creative. this then leads me to the next point of improvement. i think apart from the mathematical mechanics to the game, a certain amount of dynamics need to be implemented. when i said chaos could not ally with loyalist, shlin comes up with some of the best commands that just make me have to bend my own rules because his commands we logical and realistic (being a hardcore fan of warhammer also helped him a lot). In the next game, i'm sure that i will take away some of the maths and let the players add more custom dynamic commands that could affect the outcome.

If there is enough players willing to join on a next one, i will deffinately host another with hopefully more improvements

I was going to mention Eisenhorn in response to some books being mentioned, because, as you said, it was awesome. It really gave me a new perspective on the Warhammer 40K universe. Space Marines in that trilogy, be they Chaos or Loyalists, are incredible. The few scenes in which they appear, you get to see how vastly superior they are to normal humans. The Karskin also get major props in one of the novels, going in hand to hand with a Greater Daemon.

I also read Faith & Fire, because I was building a Witch Hunter army and actually I haven't finished it yet. Although I love the concept and the lore behind the Adepta Sororitas, the novel pretty much fell flat after a few chapters, so much that I've been reading it on and off for more than a year. I don't really recommend it.

I'll take note of the Horus Heresy, I had dismissed it because one of my friends jumped into the Warhammer with those novels and told me he was not satisfied by the series.
