Hello I'd like to get clear on the gameplay settings ( Easy-Medium... )

I'v been reading that on combat Hard the enemy gets a minimal bonus while on VH the bonus is huge. Medium should give nop bonus whatsoever.

How is the AI tactically different in these settings? I'd like to see equal forces but with a proper tactical AI to fight against. Last night my line infantry behind a wall went into a shootout against militia with no cover and they lost badly. Both started with 120 and after a while I had 80 left and the militia 100. Givven the conditions I should have killed and made them route by the time I got to 80.

I find it hard to effectiveley do battles when a clearly in your favour head to head results in immiment defeat.

Thank you for reading

I don't think CA have actually said what the exact differences are between each difficulty setting. It seems likely that it will be the same as RTW and M2TW, though, with only stat bonuses and no "smarter" enemy AI on harder battle difficulties.

All I know is, on Hard the AI's ships fight to the death. They either have to explode or flip onto their side before they give up. Only time Ive had a fairly healthy enemy vessel surrender was when his buddy infront of him blew up and I think the moral penalty from loosing friends in close proximity caused them to break.

Well, RTW and M2TW have different difficulty approaches though.

In RTW, VH gives +7 to the AI's attack (supposedly no defense) and + to morale.

In M2TW, VH does not give the AI any stat bonuses; the player side tires faster (than on lower difficulties and the morale has bigger impact).
