How about, since there are the Total War ones going on, we have an arena maul and take the two or three most popular multi-player non total war games and have a little tourney of our own to celebrate this ten year anniversary.
I recommend TF2 and Left four Dead(L4D)
What say you guys?

I'm intrigued. How do we do a TF2 "maul" (haven't seen the total war ones)? Just pick teams or something?

Idk, maybe 2v2's 4v4's 1 on 1. Just get a little arena game going and the best at it wins? Personnally for the L4d one I say 4v4. I think we have atleast 8 players enough and some non .org players that play with us. But those were just off the top of my head, I'm looking for better recomendations.
Veho, Crazed Rabbit, Monk and NJS vs all imo. :laugh4: :clown:

:laugh4: Can't blame me for trying though, right? We only stacked teams once, the other times we were pretty fair, we even lost that one time. :shame:

I was quick-matching VS games in L4D and I joined one against a clan. My team was doing alright (we seemed to handle tanks better) but on the subway map they ambushed us with 3 hunters and a smoker and incapp'd us all at the same time. It was astonishing.
Yeah, though, I'd be up for L4D or TF2.

3 hunter/smoker combo is the most powerful in the game. In the hands of a clan, or someone who really knows how to time an attack, it can easily incap the survivors.
The only thing is everyone has to be dead on. If you are off by even a little in your timing, what could have been gg will be just another failed ambush.

Yup.
Coming up the final ladder in NM 5, my team had decimated them last round at that point, so we knew we had to be careful. First guy got pounced, smoker missed, i managed to melee the hunter off him, smoker got the third guy that came up, a 3rd hunter got our fourth, but the one guy that was able to do anything didnt, and the hunter recoereved quickly enough to pounce back on him to incap us all.
If you need another player for L4D, I'm interested. :yes: I'm not much of a TF2 player though. (I do have the game, but barely played it.)

Neither am I. Personally I'd choose l4d over tf2 any day of the week. But we need more players to get it rolling.
If we get enough players or people have their own teams, then we can get some serious gamin up in he-ar.

Why not Quake Arena Live? That way everybody can play, it has little lag (Contrary to L4D), its free, web-based, and it "weight" is like 5 MB.

I never play multiplayer, and I don't have any of the games mentioned in this thread. Oh - and I'm appalling at FPS! :surrender:

They are signups for the competition, not for specific games. Once we get the players then we'll get the games in order.

Man if my internet isnt fixed by the time the org b-day is im going to be pissed. Its been two nights in a row now that my team has lost because i cant hit what im shooting at or bash what im going for. I think its my internet dropping and reconnecting rapidly, so in rts games it might seem like a minor pause while in fps quick paced action such as l4d it is the difference between life and death.

You could try posting a few advert topics in busier forums. The more people who know about your tournament, the more potential players you have.
Make sure you PM the relevant mods to ask their permission before posting a topic though. Not everyone will think it appropriate.
