Welcome mini game lovers. If you haven't read up on the carnage from the first two Murder Manor Mini Mafia games, here are the links.

Standard ruleset applies from the last 2 games. If there are additions/subtractions, I will make a note of them, and re-post the rules before the game begins anyway.

A group of history's greatest scholars and thinkers get together to determine which is the one true faith; or the one true way of living. However, there are some... outsiders... who seem to think their way of living is better than all the rest, and are determined to squash all other philosophies.
Political, philosophical, and religious content. DO NOT JOIN if you are offended by religious-themed or politically-oriented content. Note: No person's faith will be maligned in this game.
Of course, if you want slapstick comedy, but still a fun game, I have some nice PG-13 rated cartoonish games for you as well.

I can spit out a mini game in a matter of hours, yet I understand how much work goes into the big ones. This is the first game I've seen you host, and so even though the rules here state unlimited mini games, if your game needs players, that's the first place people should go.

I support order, work, and general productiveness.

Forgiveness is a virtue held in high regard in my religion and thus I bear no ill will towards you, AVSM. Yes I am Thomas Aquinas and I am not the impostor here.
Quite simply, I was taken about to read your vote against me in both Knightime (where everyone seems to not vote or abstain, thus making a probable lynch) and here which also placed me in the lead. Now I don't mind dying, but I was hoping to last more than one round in either one of those games. :clown: Even if you were the instrument of my lynch in both game, I wouldn't be mad or anything though.

Sri Guru Raghavendra Swamy (ಶ್ರೀ ಗುರು ರಾಘವೇಂದ್ರ ಸ್ವಾಮಿ) (1595-1671) was in a very special place... a place that was a blending of Nirvana and Heaven. All the greatest thinkers and philosophers who had ever lived had gathered there. He had been debating with 6 of the others, and was walking on a puffy cloud back to his lavish and supernatural dwelling. The blissful enlightenment that surrounded this man literally glowed, and his wisdom passed on to the others. But the forces of wisdom and enlightenment were not the only ones who had entered this Nirvana, there were radical thinkers as well with more radical philosophies. They were at war with the Gentle Ones.
Indeed, walking behind the Saintly Guru Raghavendra was another figure... a figure of malevolence and darkness. This figure hated everything that Guru Raghavendra stood for, and would no longer tolerate his peaceful and enlightened morality. He grabbed the Guru by the neck, and impaled him through the back, twisting the blade until it had completely destroyed the man's beating heart. Even in this realm, people could be destroyed by the Evil Ones. The gentle Guru looked into the heavens and cried out for Vishnu to protect him... but his calls went unanswered.
The malevolent figure, an incarnation of darkness stood and watched him die, and then laughed as he wiped the saintly blood from his blade. "Morality is a joke, you foolish man. And soon, everyone in this pathetic little playground will know the truth."

The Islamic Philosopher Ibn Rushd was walking through the glorious heavens, being watched by Allah. This place was a paradise, and he stopped to watch the many different kinds of exotic birds nesting in the gardens.
From behind him, a creature of malevolence appeared. Ibn Rushd sensed something askew, and straightened himself. But there was no real warning... just a sharp pain in his back and stomach, and lots of blood pooling onto the ground.
He fell to the ground and looked up at his attacker... but he could not see because the glorious light was behind him, and his face was dark.

But we have to lynch characters instead of players. So even if we get a scummy scent from any players, we can't lynch if we don't know who is who.
I know us philosophers are bunch with huge ego, thinking our philosophy is awesome but I think we should seriously do some research so we know who is who. Heres what I got so far.

I've been trying for four of these games now to get the Director position and one of these years I'm actually going to get it. :laugh4:
This was the first instance of someone demonstrating that they really wanted something. I knew GH was excellent with writeups and he was also very likely to play it neutral to scummy if he was townie. He was the perfect early game Director for people who wanted to become scum. Our later falling out does not erase this fact.

I originally envisioned doing enough funny interviews and such that actual gangsters might contact me, wanting to be interviewed. I got contacts via other means, and it never quite worked out the way I planned with the interviews. Only a few people ever requested it, was hoping more people would interact with the DJ character and less with the Askthepizzaguy character.

It was this simple, starting gangsters. Send me an anonymous email address and I'd post it publicly, allowing folks who wanted to be mafia to contact you directly while maintaining your anonymity. Scan then and recruit them.

I wanted to form doctor protection and hit squads, so I could justify defending myself and form some contacts. Some of them would go on to become scums or doctors, and I wanted contacts in the town and in the mafia.

Take this advice and run with it. This game is not all about Pizzaguy, so make it about you instead. I'll root for you.
Too many people approached me and I wanted to make sure others had a shot at organizing things. If I was too close to everything I would be seen as a threat by somebody. Tried very hard in all seriousness to make it easier for others to do their own thing, I really tried.
There's no such thing as neutral players. There are only players who haven't decided which side they think is going to win yet.
Tincow is the first one to seriously question my motives, and he was completely correct to do so.
You were expecting a different TinCow?
I disagree. Going surgeon is very hard. How many townies have successfully accomplished that? One or two ever? Going mafia is also very hard. scottishranger managed it in Capo 2, but his 'Holy Grail' achievement is certainly not the norm. Neutral is the norm in Capo. People tend to keep their options open until they think one side has an advantage, their choices are removed, or they get killed/lynched. If you want true difficulty, take scottishranger's path and try to become an independent Don. You can do neutrality anywhere, but it's only in Capo that you can pick your own fate like that. That's what makes this game so superb. It's Choose Your Own Adventure Mafia.
Although I think I made my point about how it would be a relatively simple matter to become a doctor or wiseguy, through organization, here Tincow makes a point about choosing the harder path and picking one's own fate and one's own adventure.
I did take this advice to heart, as will be demonstrated over the course of the commentary.
So now we all know that ATPG is going rogue detective.
He still wants to be the CIA Man and is slightly disappointed that he won't get a chance to go the other route offered as opposed to being townie hero.
So R-D is the next best thing.

That's pretty accurate, actually. I still hadn't formed a plan beyond networking and seeing what happens. Sure I wanted to have lots of mafia contacts, and would be literally forging gangsters in order to be absolutely sure I had some... and wanted to be in contact with someone who was capable of being a Don or was a Don, but most of my plans had been to be as neutral as possible and see what happened.

I'm a newb to this board, and have only played one game with AskThePizzaGuy before, and how he is behaving here (trying to coordinate the world) may be his normal play style. But it seems to me he is trying to manipulate the world in plain sight, and I don't like it.
BillMc's instincts are dead right, as usual when he's a townie.
I wish we could get him involved in more games here, he's downright scary when it comes to tracking scum.

Phase Three
Ashoka the Great, Buddhist Emperor of India, was walking down the smooth paved road winding through the mountainous region of Paradise. He had spent many days debating the finer points of Buddhist philosophy, as well as the merits of being a vegan. He argued against death and destruction, and sought inner peace. He did all of this while carrying around his sword, a magnificent blade which he had used to vanquish many foes, one that had recently been wiped clean.
A dark figure approached Ashoka, and their eyes met. Knowing one another's hearts and minds, they immediately dropped their disguises and unsheathed their weapons. There would be no fine intellectual debate here; only a battle to the death. Ashoka scored the first touch, swiping the shoulder of his foe and drawing first blood. However, as the battle progressed, Ashoka's skills were shown to be obviously rusty. The old master was forced backwards, and the sounds of metallic clashing and scraping were deafening, and echoed throughout the otherwise peaceful valley.
"Who are you anyway?" gasped Ashoka as he deflected another killing blow.
The creature of darkness said nothing and continued his bloody work. A mere few seconds later, Ashoka's sword-hand was sliced clean off, and a swift kick to the chest knocked him to the ground. There was no escape. Finally the creature of Darkness spoke.
"Jeremy Bentham.... I recognize you. You were an advocate for utilitarian ethics... you believe that actions are not good or evil; you believe that the greatest good for the greatest number of people is what defines morality. HAH! That is a sorry viewpoint of morality. Obviously actions can be immoral in and of themselves... that is, if you believe in morality. That is just a crutch for the weak. Everyone knows that the strong survive by taking what they need. It is a shame though... out of all the so-called philosophers here, you are the one other person who might have believed that the ends justify the means. Though your outward appearance was of Ashoka the Great, indeed a great warrior of his time, someone who knew how to get the job done... you were really just a fool who believed in the greater good; Jeremy Bentham in disguise."

Just then, the creature of Malevolence swiped Beefy's head clean off... and so ended the life of Jeremy Bentham, Utilitarian Ethicist.

It is a duel between Beefy and the creature. The creature suddenly approaches Beefy. ATPG said that this was a sudden death round, and you were the one that killed Beefy. I had little to go on, and actually admitted that it was a weak point, yet you attempt to ignore it. Why?

I'm not, the way you wrote that a first seemed to indicate I was in the writeup. Hence my questions. The fact I seem to ignore that you said it was a weak point is not very relevant, since its apparently enough for you to vote for me.

The Philosophers met in the grand university of Paradise, to discuss the recent brutal murders and who might have carried them out. Thomas Aquinas stood up and said "I believe it was Solomon Ibn Gabriol who performed these dastardly actions! The Jewish people have been using force to maintain possession of the Holy Land, and now they wish to gain possession of Paradise itself!" Kong Fuzi calmly replied, "No, my friend... it was Lao Tsu. He must have done this. He believes in the yin and the yang... he probably wishes to seek balance between the peaceful believers and the warlike conquerors." Solomon Ibn Gabriol remained silent, but seemed offended by the suggestion that he was a warlike man. Lao Tsu then accused Kong Fuzi of being the awful murderer. Solomon spoke then and said "What of this... Thomas Aquinas? Surely the catholics wish to convert you all to their religion."
They bickered and argued all throughout the night, and they could not make peace. Finally, Aquinas and Lao Tsu agreed that it had to be Kong Fuzi at fault... he was a philosopher, but his philosophy was not so much a religion as it was a way of living.
Kong Fuzi stood and said: "A wise man thinks before he acts. I see that many of you were eager to jump to conclusions, but slow to realize your mistakes. Did you not observe that Solomon avoided voting altogether?"
Finally, Lao Tsu stood up and said "ENOUGH of this! I will not sit idly by while you attempt to weasel out of your death, murderer! You have killed, and your punishment shall be death!"
And Lao Tsu unsheathed his blade and sliced Kong Fuzi's head clean off in one smooth strike. He then wiped the blood off of his blade and put it back in its sheath, much to the relief of Thomas and Solomon.

Solomon Ibn Gabriol went to sleep peacefully that night. But his sleep was not so peaceful... he dreamt of nightmarish things and awoke with a start. Then he ran to get some water, for his throat was very dry.
"My God. What visions are these?" he thought to himself. Could they have been wrong about who the murderer was? He decided to consult the Torah for guidance. Opening the Torah, he was not greeted by the usual comforting sense of wisdom and self-reflection... the pages had been slashed repeatedly, and covered in blood. "Who could have done this?"
"I'll give you four guesses, and the first three don't count."
With a sudden motion, Solomon's life ended. A second later, his head hit the floor. Another second later, his body joined it.

Lao Tsu had not slept that night. He was slightly concerned because not everything had gone according to plan. After returning home from his walk, he lay his sword on the shelf, and waited in the darkness.
Sure enough, he heard the sounds of an intruder entering his home. He quickly went and unsheathed the blade, and returned to his bed.
The door opened slightly... Lao Tsu could see Thomas Aquinas looking in... he was carrying a weapon. Lao Tsu smiled... "nice try...." he thought. He waited for Thomas to come forward... closer... closer... closer...
Thomas Aquinas said a soft prayer, inaudible, and then said "God forgive me". He raised his sword. Just then, Lao Tsu struck with his blade and impaled the Catholic man, and Thomas dropped his sword. The sword was removed just as quickly, and blood burst from the open wound.
Lao Tsu: "So you thought you could sneak up on me, huh? You won't be killing anyone tonight."
Thomas Aquinas: "WAIT! I am not the murderer.... please... get me a doctor..."
Lao Tsu: "Oh really? Then why were you in my room trying to murder me?"
Thomas Aquinas: "I can explain... cough.... get me a towel, help me stop the bleeding..."

Lao Tsu got Thomas Aquinas a towel, and helped him wrap it around him.
"I never murdered anyone. I suspected that perhaps Kong Fuzi was not the murderer, and I went to check on Solomon Ibn Gabriol, and someone had sliced his head off... I figured it must have been you."
Lao Tsu: "That's an obvious lie. You murdered them yourself and came to finish me off..."
Thomas Aquinas: "I suppose I was wrong. If you were the Creature of Malevolence, you would have killed me by now."
Lao Tsu: "What is this Creature of Malevolence? What do you know about him?"
Thomas: "I know he is devious, violent, destructive, and delights in killing everyone..."
Lao Tsu: "Who do we both know that is capable of such wanton acts of evil?"
Thomas: "Oh no.... not again..."
The narrator paused for a moment to let it all sink in.

Thomas Aquinas: "It's not in his character to be this unfair to his own followers, though... but I suppose I could not put it past him. He seems to delight in this kind of twist."
Lao Tsu: "Your Lord must not be very kind and merciful, then... why do you follow him?"
Thomas Aquinas: "I had to choose to have faith in something... I felt if I could trust... the Pizza Lord... everything would be all right..." *cough*
Lao Tsu: "Yes, it seems as if your Lord has let you down. Has left you to suffer and die. Do you not see now the error of your ways? Don't you realize now that the only true path is the path of leadership? Of gaining power for oneself?"
Thomas Aquinas: "I suppose so... I see it has its uses... but that sounds very strange coming from you, Lao Tsu."
Lao Tsu: "Accept now that your God has failed you... and the only true path towards wisdom is obtaining the power to defend yourself."
Thomas Aquinas: "All right, all right... so what is the plan? Do we gang up on the Pizza Lord?"
Lao Tsu: "What do you mean, we? You foolish old man... I have just proven your faith in God is pointless... He will not save you now. It is nothing but tragedy and pain for the rest of your life, which you'll be happy to hear, won't be a long wait."
Thomas: "What is all this? Why were you trying to get me to turn my back on the Pizza Lord?"
Lao Tsu: "Because I wanted to prove that your faith is fleeting... you don't truly believe in anything. So that makes you a hypocrite. You were ready to toss aside a lifetime of faith, all because of one mortal wound. You are nothing more than a coward, hiding behind the disguise of belief... now I see it was all an illusion. But you are not the only deceiver here... I have been hiding behind a disguise as well."
Lao Tsu removed his mask.... and revealed himself as Niccolo Machiavelli, The Creature of Malevolence.
"And now that I have shown you the path of mercy and belief is for the weak, allow me to demonstrate my philosophy, for you... and what we do with sheep."
Thomas Aquinas watched in horror as Niccolo Machiavelli unsheathed his sword once again, and shoved it swiftly through his neck, impaling him against the wall.
"There is no morality... not in this most dangerous game. You live by the sword, and you die by the sword. And don't expect the Lord to save you every time."
The bloody business finished, he walked out of the modest home, and went back to Thomas Aquinas' much nicer mansion, and delighted in the fact that all his enemies lay vanquished once again. So many dead bodies.... he would dispose of them in the morning. For now... Paradise would be much quieter... and it was all his for the taking.

I think the game setup with 2 mafia who don't know each other have truly balanced this game.
So far, we have 1 win for town and 1 win for mafia under those rules.
Did everyone have fun, enjoy the writeups? Satisfied with the twist, which was mostly in the plot and not in the game design, this time?
