View Full Version : I really feel frustrating with this...

Hi, I know i shouldnt keep moaning about horde stuff but i was really frustrated by that.

In my expert Mori game i have hunted down Oda and up to the Imagawa province in the east and got the "Australia" in the west in 13 yrs time. I know although my land looks really big but the province are actually not so rich. However, since all the diamiyo still holding their province [none of them got more then 6 province in total], i should be most advance in Japan i think but its NOT!!! When i hunt into the western most island i realize that there is a Imigawa horde over there[over 2500 in 2 province]...and all of my previous effort is gone since i really cant overcome both horde from east and west together with my 2900 force.

The question is: why such AI can cheat like that with only 4-5 province but could support more armies then i got 1/3 of Japan. Even Oda only with 1 province could have over 1800 troops while i can just support 3000 at most...

I really hope this AI cheat can be fixed in later version.

Well, one possible explanation is that as you swept over the lands like a plague, you pushed his small garrisons back further and further until they were simply all holed up in Kyushu. Thus, the horde you see could be the combination of all the smaller armies you trampled over earlier.

As for the other possibility, well, I am sure others could explain to you the trade deficit that other Daimyos are allowed to get away with whereas you must stick to a balanced budget. Heck, if we could all go cold-war spending, there would really be no need for tracking koku! "Oh, I'm 10 trillion koku in the hole? Bah, let the taxpayers of tomorrow pick up the tab! By then, some other sap will be on the throne! Now gimme some more citadels! YEEHAA!"

Theoraticaly u r correct Vanya , but keep in mind that the cpu only occupies border provinces...

You are true Satake, but have you never 'pushed' a frontline army many, many provinces back, to where they end up piled on top of the frontline army they had on their other front?

Here is my experience:

(1) It is better to hunt down the AI daimyos (Oda and Shimazu, Imagawa) first, not the ronin. The AIs grow fast and gives you a much larger threat in the immediate future, while the ronin usually don't attack you if you just have 1 unit to garrison the borders.

(2) Defense is much easier. The mountains and rivers are a great plus. You can occupy some easy-defending provinces and just concentrate on the other front. Although the AI outnumbers you, you can always crush them on the battlefield. AI loves to attack you using their daimyo. You can check out the ally status. If possible, kill the daimyo who has no ally, and all his provinces go ronin. Ronins grow much slower. Even by only defending you will turn all the stupid AIs into ronins http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

(3) Gotta grow faster http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Thx for those helpful advice guys! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

I finally finished the Mori expert game after i change the strategic a bit. I spend my kuko in development in 2 dojo only and all other for troop size. Once the maintenance cost meet the annual income, i attack. And more important i notice that as Mori you shouldnt break into the west most island until the final years. Just let the green and blue horde stand and watch between each other over there would be fine. All i need is a small size of troops to defending the 1 to 1 border at the west and break into the eastern land with my main force!
