So yeah, I think this week as near as I can tell from the preview is doing combat in ancient Germania. I've been fairly happy with this show unlike HC's other new offering of Battles BC. Its a little elementary because its not super duper hardcore history but watching reenactors and experimental archeologists beating on people is a fun learning experience.

Anyone else have an opinion especially since they will probably do a Rome episode with LS.

It's ok I guess, the viking special was pretty meh, made Vikings out to be the only ones to ever do ship to ship boarding combat and that the throwing axe was the only thrown weapon used. Also, apparently the spear is overpoweringly awesome, even in single combat.

We'll see when it gets to Roman stuff.

Oh my gods, they actually showed Romans without Segmenta. *Edit* Nope just showed some Segmenta clad roman :( *

Better then Battles BC no doubt, no CGIng everything to hell.

Though it seems like the show seems to make weapons seem centric to the people their describing that show, Like they make the Sling out to be only used by germania.

Well, LS was found at Kalkriese. I didn't really get that vibe because obviously they are focussing on this one group of guys so everything they say are going to only refer to them.

its not really intended to do that, as from the three known episodes, they only wish to focus on HOW the weapons were used, rather than the history of the weapon per se. same with the vikings. the result is a surprisingly centric view, which is not good, but the result of trying to sum details up in 1 hour. It is indeed far better than battles BC, which I can proudly say I avoid like the plague.

besides, some romans by 9 AD would have had that LS. at least most were not depicted in it, but in the more common armor forms.
